Chapter 84: 84: Restricte Dunegon Entry - Part 1

Liam looked down at the card he had gotten from Logan before he quickly put it in his inventory and proceeded to forget about it.

But just because he was not interested did not mean he would get to avoid talking about it.

"Hey, human, are you not interested in that offer? You could try and check out one of those ’guilds.’ It’s that place we were taken to when I first exited the dungeon, right? Looks like a decent place to conquer and make your base. It even has low-level magicians you can make your subordinates—"

"Asger, how many times have I told you not to watch more dramas? They rot your brain a lot. Besides, a guild is not a place where I will be able to do much if I continue to hide. So let’s avoid anything to do with the guilds for now."

Liam spoke firmly and ended the conversation.

He had no interest in joining a guild currently, mostly because he did not want his actions to be limited by the rules set in place.

"Let’s check out this C-level dungeon. It should be much more fun than the one we went in before."

Even though Liam said these words, they were closer to wishful thinking than certainty.

He was not ready for them, but a part of Liam longed to head toward the hard dungeons and face the thrill of clearing them, just as he did in his memories. He wanted to feel the same rush of adrenaline in his veins as he once did.

But Liam wouldn’t be at that level for some time. He needed to start slowly so as not to hinder his progress.

"Sure, human. Let’s do what you want for now."

Asger agreed before he settled down around Liam’s shoulder.

Liam used a spell to mask Asger and make sure he wouldn’t be visible to a non-magic user. After all, Liam did not want to cause a scene and make people faint by bringing a lizard around in the open.

He took a bus to get as close to the dungeon as he possibly could, and then it was time for Liam to start walking.

The C-class dungeon was located deep in the mountains, and the area had been kept under lock by the Magic Association as an excuse to ’preserve the natural wildlife’ of this place.

Because of this rule, most people left this place alone. And those who did not want to leave such a precious place alone were dealt with by the barrier surrounding this place.

It made any non-magic user turn back and not be able to progress.

The security was adequate, but it did nothing against magic users as well as Wardens who could sense magic.

Liam placed his hand on the barrier and felt the slightest repulsion from it before he and Asger slipped inside.

Inside the first barrier, things were much different than outside. The small post set by the International Magius Society had a few people running around. They were guarding a second barrier, which protected the actual entrance to the C-class dungeon.

Liam approached them with his permit in hand, but he was not immediately noticed due to how busy the people around him were acting.

He quickly stood closer to listen in on what these people were saying.

"Quick! Have you found those people yet? We cannot open the dungeon until we find those non-magic users. How did they even get past the barrier in the first place? ...What do you mean a Warden helped them slip inside for money? Do they think this is a picnic spot or something?... I get it... fine..."

It seemed as if this conversation was going to take some time, so Liam quickly made himself busy by sitting down and observing the place.

After almost five minutes of waiting for someone to notice him, Liam got impatient and decided to cough to make his presence known. And his trick worked just as he expected it to.

The female worker on the phone immediately noticed Liam and turned to look at him with a sorry look on her face.

"I am so sorry, mister. If you are here for the dungeon, then I am afraid that you will have to come back later. As you can see, we have run into a small issue on our end. Once again, we apologize—"

The lady sounded sorry but also exhausted. There was no telling how long this problem of non-magic people sneaking into this area had been going on.

Liam understood why he had been asked to wait, but that did not mean he had to like it.

Had he been his usual laid-back self, Liam would have decided to wait around and let the situation resolve itself.

But he had decided to stop holding back when he was posing as Nico, and that also meant doing what he wanted.

He quickly stood up, startling the receptionist. She immediately turned to look at him with a sorry face.

"Mister, I am so sorry for this delay. I promise it will not take long for us to catch those intruders. Please, just wait a few minutes and—"

"You want me to wait? But it looks like you are struggling. I will give you all a hand so that you can get this done quickly and I can head inside the dungeon already."

Liam’s confidence made the receptionist speechless. She immediately opened her mouth to ask Liam to keep out of it, but it was too late by that point.

He had already left the area in search of the foolish humans who trespassed into this area without knowing where they were going and what kind of danger they were about to face.

Truly, Liam was doing them all a favor by dealing with this himself rather than letting the dungeon beasts handle them.

"I suddenly feel sorry for the humans who are about to come across you. Maybe it was not a good idea to adapt to this identity after all."

Asger muttered in a low voice, but Liam ignored him this time.
