Chapter 97: 97: Join us- Part 1

Within two hours, Liam managed to drag Darius to the brink of exhaustion. Darius could not even stand on his two feet by the end of it all, and his legs gave up.

"Tsk, are you truly that weak? I thought you would last a little longer with all your boasting and whatnot. I guess I will leave you in a safe place for now. You better thank me for going out of my way and helping you train."

Liam commented as he dragged the unconscious body to a hidden corner before putting it down and expanding a barrier around it.

The barrier instantly covered Darius’s body, and Liam checked its specs. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

"I think this should be fine. Darius will wake up in about two hours, so a three-hour barrier should do."

Liam stretched his back as he stood up and said this. He got a conflicted look from the half-dragon for his confidence.

"What makes you so sure about it? How do you even know how long this human will be out for?"

Asger asked in a curious voice. The half-dragon was sure that his contractor had no skill that could tell him the duration of Darius’s rest.

"Huh? Ah, about that! I just guessed. But I am willing to bet that I’m right and that we will meet this man in the future soon."

Liam’s confidence was overflowing. The half-dragon realized that nothing he said would make Liam question what he had already declared, so he gave up even before trying.

"Do what you want. Does this mean farming is over and we’re going to head back? What are we going to have for dinner?"

Asger seemed more interested in dinner than being in the dungeon.

Since the half-dragon used to be a boss of a dungeon, he held no interest in one anymore and just wanted to relax.

Liam thought for a minute before he answered.

"Eh, I can’t be bothered to cook tonight. Maybe we should eat out. It’s my last day of break before I need to return to work, so I was thinking of having something light. Also, Elder Erin will return tomorrow, so the meal problem should resolve itself just fine."

Liam pointed out as he walked back to his camp, where he had left Zane, Ethan, and Elaine.

Because Liam had killed so many monsters, they now avoided him and kept their distance. It was a clear sign that his time in this dungeon was up.

"Well, it was fun while it lasted, but I’ll need to look for another dungeon to run on the weekends. I should look into gathering-type dungeons to try and make some quick money...."

Liam made plans as he walked back to base. The trio he had left behind looked unharmed but tired.

Zane was the first one to notice Liam, and he quickly stood on his feet to greet him.

"You’re back. Are you hurt? Did something happen outside?"

Zane questioned one after another as he turned Liam around to check up on him.

"I’m fine! I didn’t get a single scratch. I did run into Darius while I was hunting, and that man showed me a thing or two. Anyway, as you can see, I’m fine."

As soon as Liam mentioned Darius, the trio stiffened before Ethan erupted into an angry rant.

"So, you think that man is better than us just because he’s A-ranked? Then why don’t you go and hunt with him instead of hanging around a bunch of losers like us?"

Ethan was letting his aggression out on Liam by using harsh words, but his expression showed how vulnerable he felt.

That would have made most people feel a certain way, but Liam was not one of them. He was not going to stay in a place where he was not needed.

"I see! I understand what you said. In that case, I should get going—"

Liam took one step before Ethan realized his mistake and quickly stood in Liam’s way to stop him.

"No, wait! I didn’t mean that. I just... misspoke. Just come back and sit down."

The young kid quickly retracted his words, and Liam took a seat once more.

As the party wrapped up their time in the dungeon, they decided to spend a little longer gathering resources before heading out.

They moved carefully, ensuring they didn’t waste any potential profit.

Liam took note of the materials he had collected—rare herbs, monster cores, and various crafting ingredients that could fetch a decent price in the real world.

After an hour or so, they exited the dungeon and headed to the exchange center, a bustling place where hunters traded their spoils for money or equipment.

Liam quickly sorted through his inventory and exchanged everything he didn’t need.

When he received his payout, he was satisfied—he had earned a pretty decent sum, more than enough to cover his expenses for the week.

As he was about to leave, Zane approached him, looking somewhat hesitant but determined.

"Liam, I’ve been thinking. I really liked working with you. You’re strong, reliable, and smart. The kids and I could learn a lot from you. So, what do you say to forming a permanent party with us?"

Zane started, rubbing the back of his neck.

Liam glanced at Zane before sighing. He had expected this and he appreciated the offer as well. But he had no intention of binding himself to anything at the moment.

Liam had far bigger plans to take care of, so he had no time for a party of this calaber.

"I appreciate the offer, but I have no plans to form a party with anyone right now."

Liam replied honestly.

Zane’s expression darkened with disappointment.

"Why not? I mean, you can’t deny we work well together. If we stick together, we’ll get stronger and make even better money."

Liam shook his head.

"It’s not about money or teamwork. I just prefer working alone for now."
