Chapter 11: First Level

Just as Lukas was also about to leave the hall, Amara, who had been standing silently, looked at him and said, "Thank you!"

Then, without telling him why she thanked him, she left.

Her impression improved in Lukas’s heart, and as he watched her graceful figure leave the hall, his eyes flickered in thought.

Could he save her?

He wasn’t sure because he still hadn’t stepped foot on the mage path, while Raymond was a peak Adept Mage—Peak Two-Star.

However, he knew it wasn’t completely hopeless because after spending several hours trying to digest the Legacy, he understood something—the Legacy he now possessed was very strong.

So, if he was lucky, maybe he could really manage to save her.

After pondering over it for a moment, he shook his head and walked out of the hall.

Immediately, his brows furrowed because he saw Isaac talking with Oriana, his lecherous eyes roaming over her figure.

Oriana was nervously fidgeting, her head lowered. She couldn’t ignore him because he was Raymond’s son, and it would be deemed disrespectful, which would lead to punishment.

"What are you bothering my personal maid for, Third Brother?" Lukas said, walking over.

Isaac furrowed his brows. After giving him an ugly look, he glanced at Oriana. "Think it over carefully."

Saying this, he left.

Lukas glanced at Oriana, who wore an uneasy expression, his eyes narrowing.

"Let’s return to my room." He said and walked away.

...

A short while later, in Lukas’ room, Lukas and Oriana were sitting on the edge of the bed. Lukas’ hands were protectively wrapped around Oriana who was silently shedding tears, wetting his shirt.

Lukas’ expression was dark.

Oriana had just told him what Isaac had said to her—he threatened to harm her daughter, Ellie, if she didn’t give in to his demands.

After a while, he cupped her face in his hands and looked into her eyes as he said, "Give me a month, Oriana. I’ll resolve this matter. Can you do that?"

Oriana bit her lower lip. In her eyes, he could see suspicion and the lack of trust. This was understandable.

He was a cripple and someone without a say in the family. How could he resolve this matter?

"It’s alright if you can’t believe me, but no matter what, try to delay him for a month." Lukas said, "If I can’t resolve this matter, you can do whatever you think is right."

Oriana stared into his eyes and saw his confidence and determination.

She sat up straight, took a deep breath and wiped her tears as she nodded, "Okay, Young Lord. I’ll try my best to buy a month’s time."

Though she said this, she knew it would be very difficult because Isaac was being so pushy right now because Helen wasn’t in the Mansion and wouldn’t be back for a week at least. So, he wanted to obtain her within this week.

Lukas also understood this but he still believed Oriana could buy herself some time.

Time slowly passed as Lukas made some small talk with her, trying to take her mind off this worrying matter.

A little less than an hour later, someone knocked on the door.

Knock!

"I have brought you dinner as per First Lady’s order, Young Lord."

Oriana opened the door, took the tray of food from the maid and returned after closing the door.

"Let’s eat." Lukas said, shifting back on the bed to make room for her to place the tray and sit down.

Oriana didn’t hesitate and sat down, a small smile gracing her lips.

Soon, they emptied the food tray and Oriana left the room.

Lukas wanted her to sleep in his room so she wouldn’t worry about Isaac barging into the servant quarters. However, since she had to face him to buy time, she couldn’t avoid him.

Lukas rubbed his slightly bulging belly, a satisfied look on his face. The food was incomparably delicious and because Oriana only ate a little, he had to finish it all.

After lazing on the bed for a while, he sat down cross-legged and started to regulate his breathing to better digest the food and since it would take quite some time, he closed his eyes and focused his attention on the First Legacy Bubble.

...

It was very late in the night when he felt his head throb in pain, a sign of mental energy exhaustion. Reluctantly, he stopped and opened his eyes.

Though this process of digesting the information was monotonous because he wasn’t able to understand anything.

Right now, he was like a child who was just beginning to understand the alphabet. Only after he finished digesting the bubble’s entire information would he be able to understand what it was.

Despite this, however, he wanted to continue and finish this task as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he was just an ordinary person and had limited mental energy.

...

Lukas had nothing else to do apart from eating nutritious food to recover, digest the Information and then sleep to recover his mental energy.

After eating good food for two days, he had recovered enough for him to do some physical exercises, such as push-ups, stretching, and some running.

Here, it was important to mention that the First Lady, Simone, had been sending him breakfast, lunch and dinner ever since he joined the family dinner.

If it was before or if he wasn’t able to do some critical thinking, he would have thought she was doing this so he wouldn’t join them again, but since it wasn’t either of the cases, he knew she didn’t have such intention.

On the third day, Oriana came to him, looking nervous.

"Young Lord, I talked to him and convinced him to give me a month’s time" She said,

"Oh? How did you do it?" Lukas asked.

Oriana hesitated for a while before saying, "I... I told him I’ll willingly go to him after a month."

Lukas was silent for a while. He then gave her a hug and reassured her, "Don’t worry, I won’t let it come to that."

"Mm. I believe you, Young Lord."

...

On the fifth night since he transmigrated to this world, Lukas was sitting cross-legged, chipping away at the last of the information in the bubble.

In the last two days after Oriana told him about the deal she made with Isaac, he pushed himself to digest more information and managed to lessen the time from original 7 or so days to just 5 days.

Rumble!

Suddenly, the first Legacy Bubble shook as he digested the last bit of the information. In response, his mind rumbled and he felt disoriented.

When he regained senses, he found himself in the familiar, colorless hall once again. Raising his head, he looked toward the throne and saw the indistinct figure sitting there.

[Congratulations! You can now obtain the first level of my legacy.] The ancient voice sounded in his ears.
