Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 173 : Shopping on the 7th Floor (1)
"
Didn't you ever hear you aren't supposed to text and walk at the same time, something about it being dangerous and all that jazz?" Watching Aoni out of the corner of his eyes, Damien said with a smirk.
"Speak for yourself, Mr.Look at me I'm soooo cool walking with my hands behind my head without a care in the world. I'll have you know I needed to message my Mom my new number along with letting her know I made it back in one piece."
"Pretty sure the Bureau already did that; honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she's already seen your scores, too," Contrary to what he expected to see when Aoni looked at Damien, he found the young man to be wearing a rueful expression.
'There's more to his story than I know, but it's not my place to ask,' thinking that, he began steering the conversation away from family.
"Yeah…true, but since this is my first time owning a CommuWatch, setting it up is a bit of a challenge. I am so used to memorizing everyone's number and using a payphone or something to contact them that it feels a bit strange making contacts."
"Anyway, can you show me how to look up my banking information? I know that an account was automatically set up for me the moment I was confirmed to be a traveler, but I don't know what to do…" Feeling helpless, Aoni held up his Commu towards Damien, causing the annoying guy to break out in a fit of laughter.
"Seriously man, I swear im not one to judge, but you gotta look at this from my point of view, the things you are just finding out how to do at our age, I learned by like five or six…hey, hey I'M ONLY KIDDING, AONI DON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND!"
---
Banter aside, the two soon found themselves sitting at a table in the food court, munching on some meatball subs as Damien went ahead and gave Aoni an abridged version of Smart-Tech.
Of course, he kept it simple since he was worried about accidentally overloading the brain of his new friend. However, he still got the job done, and by the time the last few bites of their dinner (it was already around 5 pm) disappeared from their plates, Aoni had a decent grasp on how to use the wrist-worn computer.
"You must have brought back some decent stuff from your Territory for the Bureau to give you so many CryptoDollars; I mean, look at me; I ended up with less than 100k, which is by no means a small amount of money, but you, Bro you're officially a millionaire! How's it feel?" Rubbing his stuffed belly after having destroyed not one but six full-sized meatball subs, Damien asked while covering his mouth and burping.
"Honestly, nearly everything I brought back was No-Grade materials, with only a few 1-Star's mixed in; I think the biggest thing that made me money was the Low-Grade Energia Crystals I stumbled on. According to my examiners, they had a minor amount of Elementalized Ice Energia stored in them, so if I had to guess, that's where most of this money came from."
To be honest, Aoni nearly slipped hard when explaining things to Damien, and if it weren't for the timely interference from his Attribute Notice flashing in his face not so discreetly, odds were, he would have said something stupid when asked about the money.
After spending a good couple of hours or so with Damien, it had to be said that Aoni was already letting his guard down a bit too much and slipping ever so slightly into the way he acted on Genovia, aka the polar opposite of how he was supposed to act on Terra.
| Careful with how you word that next statement; you found the crystals hunting outside of your Territory in a naturally formed lake surrounded by insectoids; that is your cover story |
"Found; what kind of luck do you have to just STUMBLE into a bunch of Elementalized Energia Crystals!" Damien's eyes shot wide open upon hearing this, pausing mid-belly rub, and his mouth formed a perfect O-shape.
Did Aoni think something so rare, such as Ice Energia Crystals, grew on Trees? If it were that easy, couldn't literally ANYONE become a billionaire with no trouble at all?
"Uh…well, you see…" So following what the AN told him, Aoni began spouting off bullshit, causing his new friend to nod in understanding.
"Anyway, I don't know how I am supposed to feel; this is no small amount of money for me or even my family for that matter, considering until my Awakening, the highest Grade Traveler in my household was three stars, yet here I am having already passed them."
"Anyway, let's clean up. I wanna hit a few shops and try to find some useful nodes and gear; having not summoned a single being, I need to make up some numbers, even if they are low-grade drones or mobs." Standing up and swiping all the trash on the table onto his tray, the pair left the food court, with Damien once again leading the way.
"So there are a few different official stores that sell nodes and Summoned items, the best of which would be Caster's Emporium; theyre a worldwide Trade institution that has a contract with the Bureau, so their stuff is all legit."
"But with that level of authenticity comes an inflated price tag. There are also some lesser-known trading companies we can scope out, and in the worst case, we can try our luck in the market stall area." Speaking nonchalantly, as they walked through the busy Mall, Damien pointed out one place after another, giving a brief description of each one before they finally arrived at Caster's.
"Fair warning, bro, this place is expensive, but considering what you are looking for, I don't expect you to go bankrupt; in fact, they probably have a decent backlog of low-grade nodes rotting away you could get for a reasonable price."
