Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 172 : Swift Retreat, Communicator Acquired
"Leave??? You wanna just LEAVE after getting top marks on your STATS?" Hearing Aoni's words, Damien stared at him incredulously.
"I said what I said, now let's go. We are already sticking out like a sore thumb. The bigger a scene you make, the worse it's going to be for me," giving him a pleading look, Aoni tugged his wrist away from his new friend, Spun around, and began cutting a path through the crowd of young adults, making their way closer to get a good look at the screen.
Being around the blabber mouth was bad enough, but once you factor in that his scores are open for anyone to see and his name smack dab in gold letters on his Orange Access Card, anyone could make a connection if they had even half an active brain cell.
"Oh yeah, that's right, we still gotta do that," nodding in such a way that his hair flapped about like a fish, Damien fell in step next to Aoni as they pushed against the bodies coming the opposite direction.
Eventually, after nearly coming to blows more times than he could count, the pair freed themselves of the tangled limbs and made a mad dash out of the lobby toward the direction of the elevators.
Only once they were safely behind the closing doors and had hit the button for the appropriate floor did Aoni allow himself to breathe.

"Fucking mad house, why the hell is everyone our age so damn crazy, present company excluded…actually you know what, I guess you're pretty crazy yourself, Aoni, I mean, SERIOUSLY what the hell is with your Stats?" Leaning against the stainless steel elevator wall, Damien examined his new bestie with a collective gaze.
From his point of view, the young man didn't seem like much, but then again, the clothing Aoni wore was quite loose-fitting, hiding his physique.
"They don't make sense; how are your numbers all in the D-Rank range, yet your Overall Rank is only E-?"
"Dude, did you memorize my info?" Cocking an eyebrow and giving Damien a strange look, Aoni asked, feeling a bit violated.
"Uh…would you believe me if I said it's a family trait?" Turning his face away, Damien stared at his reflection, more importantly, his unique pink eyes.
"I mean, I guess, regardless, if you have no idea why, how the hell am I supposed to have any clue?" With a shrug of his shoulders, Aoni left it at that because there was no way in hell he was about to start spilling secrets to someone he'd just met.
Maybe if they had grown up together, it would be a different story, but as of right now, he was keeping his so-called "New Friend" a little closer than arm's length away.
After all, he could tell that there was no malice or evil intentions behind Damien's approach.

It didn't take long for the two young men to reach their destination, and when they stepped off the Elevator, the two paused for a moment to take in the bustling sight before them.
"Wow, this place really looks like a super high-end mall." Aoni, being the less well-traveled in expensive tastes, mused while keeping his head on a swivel.
In a sense, the 7th floor really did look like a large mall, and since he'd seen it enough times online, the fact that there were actually three individual floors on the Technical 7th wasn't too shocking.
After all, with the immense resources in the government's hands, and this being a government building, the fact they had the means to build past spatial restrictions wasn't that out of the question.
I mean, take Aoni's backpack or even the chests back in his territory; they were all significantly bigger on the inside than the outside; thus, why couldn't the 7th floor of the Bureau be the same?
"So where, too, first? The Phone store, or would you like to grab a bite to eat first? Bringing up his arms, Damien cradled the back of his head and walked forward into the first level of the mall and away from the elevators, only to end up stopping a few seconds later when he noticed Aoni standing in place and checking out the higher levels.
"Unfortunately, even if we are Orange-Cards, we are restricted to the first level, unless we reach Yellow, that is, which shouldn't be too far out of our reach."
"Yeah, I know; still, I can't shake the feeling that the first level is more of a flea market than an actual mall," Aoni grumbled before catching up to Damien.
"You aren't entirely wrong; since the majority of Travelers tend to hover around One to Three stars, this is generally a scattering of people and markets, unlike the higher levels where you have actual reputable businesses."
"Still, that doesn't mean there aren't a few down here as well; take the phone stores, for example; since it's all regulated, they have to have authentic items or else they'd be shut down."
Nodding his head and following Damien's lead, since the young man seemed to know exactly where he was going somehow, Aoni didn't hesitate to window shop as he passed numerous stalls and stores.
As expected, the place was packed to the brim with people coming from all walks of life, from young, newly awakened to grizzled old veterans, but even with so many people constantly on the move or chattering, there seemed to be an order to this chaos.
No one fought, no one stepped outta line or raised their voice, and there was no stealing or crime.
It was kind of strange, but being as he didn't see anything wrong with it, Aoni kept his mouth shut until Damien brought him to a large store with glass windows labeled, "Zipline Communications!"
---
Nearly an hour later, Aoni and Damien left the store, with one young man strolling along lazily and the other furiously tapping away on his brand-new smartwatch.
Then again, calling it a watch was a bit of an understatement because the thing was only a little smaller than a typical smartphone yet didn't seem out of place on Aoni's wrist.
