Leveling Technology To Save Humanity-Chapter 71: Facing Ones Demons
Chapter 71: Facing Ones Demons
That name...
Crash!
The tray of baked goods fell to the ground. Granny Bimto spoke in a daze, her pupils dancing maniacally in an unfocused manner.
"Aunt... Aunt Bimto?"
"Ahh–" Bimto woke from her stupor, her body still trembling uncontrollably.
She couldn’t help it... she couldn’t help it.
Tears rolled down the corner of her eyes when thinking of the facing image she had of the young girl she once called her daughter. Clint felt pity for her, helping her to a seat while running her bath soothingly.
It was amazing how the AI in her safety bracelet already noticed her emotional changes. "Master, Master, what’s wrong with you? Are you alright, Master? Simon is sad now that Master is sad..."
In a flash, it changed into a spider, climbing on her shoulders and rubbing itself against her cheeks like a furry cat. It knew just the right amount of pressure needed not to graze or roughen Bimto’s skin. Afterall, it was made of metal, and wasn’t an actual living thing.
Still, its actions worked quite well.
Through her tears, Bimto stared at Clint and the little spider on her body with warmth.
Yes, she was no longer alone.
Despite the hollowness in her heart, she had a son, a caring community, friends, and her little spider—Simon.
Sometimes, she forgets Simon is just a mechanical object there to protect her. It spoke so realistically, like a child, and was very fun and amusing to be around with.
It helped her with chores, made the bed, assisted her in cooking, and even sweeping, when it placed the stick of her broom in its mouth. To be honest, it was like having a Pet in a fantasy world.
Do spiders have eyebrows? She has ever taken the time to notice it, but her little Simon had eyebrows and a pair of big googly eyes that made her smile whenever she felt alone.
Pfft~
Hahahhahaha~
Bimto laughed through her pain, feeling that she had finally put everything behind her. She had done wrong to numerous in the past, but not that ungrateful daughter of hers. So why must she be the one to be afraid of confrontation between them?
It looks like the day she dreaded has finally come. So why back down now? After all, she has always known there would be a day when mother and daughter meet.
"The priority in Geldhan village has always been to first take care of our villagers." Clint advised sternly. "Aunt, you are one of us. So if it’s too much for you, I can have them sent–"
"No," Bimto interrupted, shaking her head sideways. "Little Clint, when you live as old as I have, you know that everyone someday faces their demons."
Taking a deep breath, Bimto used the napkin her Simon brought over. "What a thoughtful little thing..."
Bimto gratefully ran her cupped hand against Simon’s little head. She dried her tears, no longer feeling her body trembling any longer. Simon seemed to notice this, reporting the lowering heart beat and other vital readings its master was in.
Please!
What good is a Safety & Security bracelet, if it can’t detect the vitals of its master? Such requirements are basic properties all S.S Bracelets must have. It knew a list of First Aid techniques downloaded into its software, and the location of the nearest clinics according to the GPS too.
Of course, since Geldhan village also had a newly opened clinic not on the the global Search Engine Maps yet, Gort had immediately added this into the bracelets database. So all bracelets know how to get to the Village’s clinic if their Master was injured.
Amazing, right?
Wiping her tears, Bimto felt it was a great time to be alive. So why dwell too much on the past?
As Simon helped pickup the fallen cookies, Bimto chuckled softly, turning her attention to Clint. "Don’t worry about me. You can tell them to come. I’m ready to face my demons now."
...
On the other side, Hunteria got word from Clint. She had to admit she was taken aback by the news.
Everyone knew that Merta’s matter was like a taboo to Bimto, so much that she had once gone into cardiac arrest by the mere mention of she-who-shall-not-be-named. So seeing how she readily accepted the matter, made Hunteria dazed for a bit.
Well, since Bimto wanted to meet with her daughter, there was nothing more they could do.
Hunteria’s go-Kart drove in front of Merta’s vehicles, leading them to Bimto’s home. It was funny how a daughter would forget the road to her own mother’s house, a home she grew up in.
"What a disappointment," Hunteria murmured to herself.
It looks like ages ago, after Merta openly wished to forget everything about their ’poor’ village, she really did erase many aspects about the village from her thoughts.
Hunteria could see from Merta’s embarrassment that she truly forgot how to get to her mother’s house.
It’s true that the roads are now newly built, and development is also everywhere. But, the residential homes have not changed. Their locations have always been right where they ought to be. Even distant cousins who visited in the past, came over and found their relative’s homes without too much of a hassle.
It’s truly a shame to have such a person as a daughter.
Sokka’s eyes burned brightly, when seeing the level of high-construction around the place. If he read the news correctly, his Cousin, Gort, was the one truly responsible for making it all happen. Despite the fact that he looked down at Gort, he still felt entitled to a fraction of Gort’s wealth.
’Soon, l have millions in my account, not that rubbish 800 Gwins a month that father gives, and not the additional peanut money of 5000 Gwins a month from mother!’
Heh-Heh-Heh-Heh~
A strange light flicked through Sokka’s eyes menacingly.
This was his time to shine. And it all begins with his dear Grandmother Bimto, who was speculated to also be a millionaire.
As her beloved grandson, shouldn’t she make up for lost times by giving him a big slice from the pie?
Rich!
Rich!
He was gonna be RICH.
