Chapter 73: A Mother’s Love?

They say: Mother’s are full of grace, mother’s are bright...

Mother’s are kind, mother’s are forgiving, mother’s are warm, and mother’s are peaceful safe havens.

It is often said that a person can willingly commit murder, slaughter entire cities, and even turn cannibalistic down the line. But the one constant thing they will have is their mother’s love. For a mother will never see their child as a monster, and perhaps... will hide their child’s unique quirks from the world and all incriminating evidence too.

Well... that’s what some dull-witted and shameless bastards would think, was the definition of what a Mother was. And maybe in the past, Bimto would have also thought the same... BUT NOT ANY MORE.

Hah! Bimto inwardly sneered when seeing their reactions. "Look here, I told you guys that I’m a busy person alright? So if you’re looking for jobs, please go to the next door and look for vacancies!"

Bimto still acted as though she didn’t recognize Merta. "And you there... you who looks like she’s about to cry. I’ve known quite a few professional Mourners in my day, but never those as shameless as any of you!"

What’s a Professional Mourner? Of course it’s someone paid to appear at funerals and cry their eyes out for the deceased, in cases where the deceased was either hated or doesn’t have family.

Such people have been around for ages.

When burying her mother, Bimto used such services, as she and her mother were very hated by the community at that time. It was funny that during a funeral where she thought no one would show, everyone in the village appeared.

In their words, no matter how hated a person was over, they should still be respected and missed when dead.

Bimto will never forget that day when the villagers she had done evil to, all out money together to take care of her feeding and her wellbeing.

The Villagers were simpler people at heart... She felt she didn’t deserve their gratitude. From that period on, she changed, but still decided to commit suicide and end it all. Luckily, she found her adopted son, who gave her hope for the future.

In the past, she thought she would have to pay Professional Mourners to cry at her funeral when she sensed her time was almost up. But as the years went by, she found that she didn’t need such things.

She was loved and wanted, fat more than she could ever imagine. Many have long forgotten what her former self looked and acted like. If you tell any of the young children about her past, they would think you’re a psycho and perpetual liar, trying to ruin her good name.

To many, she was a fairy Godmother, a Santa Claus, a good being that deserves all the love in the world. But she wasn’t always like this...

Bimto inwardly chuckled.

When was the last time she ever spoke so arrogantly?

Well, it seems that because the villagers were truly good in nature, this part of her has long been tucked away. But even though she truly changed at heart, that didn’t mean she had become a pushover.

Bimto understood one major lesson in life—Good is typically enough to defeat evil, but only a higher Evil and defeat pure dark-hearted evil!

"Shoo, shoo, shoo... I’m not taking auditions for Professional Mourners, so go cry somewhere else."

Pfft~

Clint, who was seated in the house, couldn’t hold back any longer.

Who was that?

Merta heard his laughter and turned red from fury and embarrassment. Who the hell is that bastard to laugh at matters between their Mother and Daughter?

"Mom, it’s me... It’s your little padded-jacket, your daughter, Merta."

"Oh?" Bimto crossed her arms against her chest, leaning gracefully on her door. "Merta? Never heard of that name in my life."

"You—" Merta’s chest rose and dropped, anger very evident on her face.

At this point, even a blind man could see that Bimto was toying with them. But do you think she will ever give up so easily, especially with millions involved?

Merta gnashed her teeth, her angered words flowing without her even thinking about them. "Mom, I know you know it’s me. How can a mother–"

Plop.

Sokka dropped to his knees, stopping the situation before it escalated higher. He looked quite pitiful on his knees. "Grandmother, I am Sokka.... Your only grandson. I don’t know what wrong my mother did to you in the past, but... I can assure you that my mother has long regretted it day and night."

The corners of Bimto’s lips raised high.

Regret? Of course she must have regretted it. After all, her mother is now a millionaire, how can she not feel regret? And why do you keep emphasizing the fact that you are her ONLY grandson?

Do you think she will Rudd up and kiss you because you’re the only grandson she might have in this life related by blood?

"Grandmother, believe me, my mother has missed you dearly. Sometimes, I see her secretly crying and muttering your name."

The more Sokka spoke, the more ticked off he became with this maternal grandmother of his.

’Dammit, when will this old hag tell me to rise?’

Shouldn’t she rush up to him, pull him up lovingly and tell him it’s alright, you forgive his mother? What’s going on here? Why was this old hag not reacting to the script?

No matter what wrong a child has done to a parent, shouldn’t that parent forgive, and forgive, and forgive no matter what?

’Old HAG, If not for your millions, do you think I, Finch Sokka, will ever kneel before you?’

Sokka lowered his head, burying the murderous glint in his eyes. And when he raised his head again, he was an innocent boy, clueless of all dangers in the world. "Grandmother, my mother is truly sorry."

"Yes, yes..." Merta added, wiping her fake tears away.

The guards and staff also nodded, with the maid also wiping her teary eyes in a dramatic manner.

"Madam, the mistress has truly suffered, please forgive her just this once."
