Chapter 108: Ch:108 A New Perspective

*Glug*

"ari.. queisà.."

Daniel swallowed a mouthful of healing potion and unleashed his final chant.

The instant the words left his lips, the sand beneath him surged upward, clinging to his legs like a living magnet, and his body moved against his will.

’Okay... it’s happening. Calm down, relax,’ he told himself, forcing his mind to settle.

Daniel’s body stood on its own. The potion slipped from his hands, the red liquid spilling across the ground in a perfect circle, his eyes wide and mouth poised to swallow.

His right hand rose toward his left eye. The moment his fingers touched his skin, he lifted his tongue and swallowed in one smooth motion, believing it would ease the pain

But, little did he know, any temporary effects would be nullified during the ritual.

...

*SQUELCH*

"MHHH!!! MHHH!!!" he tried to scream, but his lips were pressed tight, the sound strangled and muffled.

The ritual showed no mercy nor pity. The moment it touched his skin, his left eye was torn apart. His breathing grew ragged, and tears blurred his vision.

The pain was unbearable, but everything comes at a price.

...

Within minutes, his left eye began to regenerate as if some unseen force was knitting it back together, and the pain started to fade.

The grains of sand on his legs crumbled away, and his body felt alive again, moving under his control.

’Finally... it’s... over...’ he thought, his gaze drifting to the clear morning sky.

Daniel dropped to his knees, fatigue threatening to make him faint. Just as his body was about to hit the ground, he jerked mid-fall, bracing himself and stopping from collapsing face-first.

The healing potion took effect.

"Ugh... haah... haah... Haah..."

He paused for a moment, taking a steadying breath. His severed eye was gone, as if the sand itself had swallowed it.

The ritual diagram was gone, erased without a trace, leaving Daniel alone in the backyard with the grimbook resting beside him.

A moment of silence settled over the backyard.

Daniel calmly lifted the book and walked toward his room, his expression cold and his movements measured.

Inside his room, he leaned over his bed, chin resting on a pillow, the grimbook at the center, ready to be opened.

First, he checked the penalty time.

It was gone.

Seeing that, he let out a deep sigh and began turning the pages as usual.

*SIGH~*

Daniel’s brows furrowed, and without hesitation, he flipped the book over and began reading from the opposite side.

"What the..." he murmured, trying to process the new letters.

The strange symbols beside Strength and Charm made it clear where this was heading—he could now upgrade himself manually.

Still, he continued flipping through the pages, searching for more information.

——————

( Page: -7 )

To upgrade your Strength, Charm, Dexterity, Vitality, or Intelligence, place your finger on the plus icon and clearly state the desired number, then complete the process with a chant.

Use the chant [Upgrade] to increase your stats.

...

...

...

——————

Below the chant were detailed descriptions of each upgradeable stat. Daniel read them carefully, his fingers tracing the words as he moved along.

In summary, Strength represented raw, brute power.

Dexterity governed speed, agility, and reflexes.

Vitality determined endurance and defensive capability.

Intelligence increased his magical damage, granting additional bonuses.

Charm enhanced his appeal, making him more attractive to the women he desired.

"Hmm..." he murmured with a faint smile. "Let’s upgrade my new stats."

Without wasting a second, he flipped to the stats page and began allocating his points.

"Ten upgrade."

"Ten upgrade."

"Ten upgrade."

He placed ten points into [Dex], ten into [Vit], and ten into [Int]. Instantly, a surge of power flowed through his body, and a small wave of dopamine hit his mind.

Dexterity: 10 [+]

Vitality: 10 [+]

Intelligence: 10 [+]

Essence Points Available: 36

————————

As Daniel considered where to allocate his remaining points, his eyes locked onto his level. That’s when he remembered the reward.

He was already level twenty-six.

The {Eternal Eye} had been granted at level twenty, and another reward had unlocked at level twenty-five, one he had yet to discover.

His fingers raced through the pages until something unfamiliar caught his eye. To his surprise, it wasn’t a new skill, nor was it a new ability.

[ Combat Arts ]

Shadow stepback: A shadowborn combat art of the Veil. When an enemy attempts a backstab within 2.5 meters, you instantly shift behind them, leaving an afterimage in your place for 1 second. You remain unseen for 1 second before reappearing, but you cannot attack during that time.

Once the chant is cast, the effect lasts for 2 minutes.

Cooldown: 30seconds.

Mana: 50

Chant: [???]

Place your finger on the question mark and assign a chant to activate this combat art.

——————

"Stepback," he said, placing his finger on the mark.

Far from Daniel’s quiet room, the consequences of his actions were already spreading.

—-

At kyle’s house.

"Ahh!! Stop! Stop!" Krin jolted upright in bed, his body jerking as if struck by an unseen blow.

Kyle, who had been lounging in a chair with his legs propped on the table and his arms crossed behind his neck, jumped in fright. He twisted around in shock—and tipped backward, crashing to the floor with a hard thud.

*THUD!*

"I’m sorry... don’t beat me," Krin whispered, gasping for air.

Kyle froze, heart skipping a beat, as Krin cowered on the bed, eyes wide with terror, both arms shielding his face like a beaten animal expecting another strike
