Limited Time Marriage: Nice to Meet You Mr. Foster-Chapter 34 - 33: Brother, It Doesn’t Hurt
As Jared Grant’s stern scolding echoed, the hall fell silent, leaving only Lili’s sobs of pain.
"Look at what this family has become? The old are not compassionate, the young are not dutiful, constant quarrels—does it even resemble a family?" Jared Grant coughed as he cursed.
At this moment, Felicity Grant patted Jared Grant’s back with concern and comforted him:
"Grandfather, don’t be angry. South was just worried about Seth’s injury, that’s why he acted rashly."
Jared Grant looked at everyone with disappointment in his eyes, showing satisfaction only when he gazed at Felicity.
"You all, big men, never give me peace of mind like Yaxi does. Just disperse already, so I won’t be annoyed seeing you. Lili, pick up your salary and leave tomorrow." Jared finished speaking, snorted coldly, and returned to his room.
Shawn Grant stared at South Grant as if shooting cold daggers, each intended to kill her.
Lili sobbed beside Shawn Grant, asking him to take her to the hospital.
South Grant looked on coldly, "Uncle, if you have any issues, direct them at me. If something happens to Seth again, the next cup of water—I can’t guarantee on whom or with what it will be thrown."
After speaking, South Grant turned and headed toward Seth’s room.
She didn’t hold a knife to subdue others, but when a blade came down on her, she wouldn’t flinch.
If anyone dared harm those she protected, she’d not relent, no matter how hurt she was.
As South Grant entered Seth’s room, Seth was using his left hand to write on a drawing board: 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Brother, I’m not in pain."
It’s said that children with autism are angels sent by heaven.
As South Grant looked at those four crooked, simple characters, she felt a lump in her throat.
His right hand couldn’t be used, so he could only write with his left.
He didn’t cry out in pain, yet told her he wasn’t in pain.
South Grant hugged Seth’s small body in her arms. Just then, Fiona Grant pushed the door open and saw South Grant and Seth embracing. Fiona walked over and asked Seth:
"Seth, does it still hurt?"
Seth lifted his head from South Grant’s arms and shook it.
"As long as you’re okay." Fiona Grant reassured him by rubbing his hair.
South Grant couldn’t be bothered to talk to Fiona and chose to ignore her presence, yet Fiona just had to come over, and unfortunately, South Grant wasn’t in the best mood.
"You know to be concerned now, but where were you when Lili was spouting nonsense in the hall?"
Fiona Grant looked embarrassed and could only murmur softly:
"I was reviewing lessons in my room after school, with the college entrance exams coming up. It’s stressful, I didn’t notice what was happening outside."
The words South Grant wanted to snap back were on the tip of her tongue, but then Seth held her hand, looking up at her.
Seeing Seth’s clear, innocent eyes, South Grant held back her words.
"Seth, I’ll sleep with you tonight, okay?" South Grant no longer paid attention to Fiona.
Seth nodded happily, and then South Grant took him to wash up, ignoring Fiona coldly.
Watching South Grant’s indifferent demeanor, Fiona clenched and then released her fists at her sides.
Throughout the night, Seth couldn’t sleep peacefully; the burns were painful. Even after applying soothing balm, the burnt area throbbed with heat.
But he dared not disturb South Grant, just lay quietly.
Similarly, South Grant couldn’t sleep either.
