Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 119: Dream and Reality
Stella Grant truly wouldn’t appreciate his kindness.
Especially upon realizing they were discussing her with Hugh York, her face turned noticeably colder.
Hugh York was unaware of the situation on Silas Sutton’s side. Hearing his words, he chuckled, "It seems President Sutton still has some work to do."
Silas Sutton knew what Hugh York was worried about and laughed lightly, "Rest assured, this play can’t go on without your stage."
In other words, your retreat won’t be cut off.
Hugh York instantly understood, "Regarding the acquisition price, I hope President Sutton will show mercy."
Silas Sutton responded with a smile, "I’ll have Manager Grant work overtime tonight to draft a new acquisition proposal and send it to your email later."
Hugh York agreed promptly, "Alright."
After hanging up with Hugh York, Silas Sutton tilted his chin towards Stella Grant, "Did you hear the phone conversation?"
Stella Grant said, "I heard it."
After speaking, Stella Grant furrowed her brows and asked, "Did something happen on Shawn Bishop’s side?"
If nothing had happened, Hugh York’s attitude wouldn’t have suddenly shifted 360 degrees.
Clearly, during dinner tonight, Hugh York had deliberately held back, unwilling to relent.
Facing Stella Grant’s inquiry, Silas Sutton took half a step forward, mischievously looking at her, with eyes like hooks, "Want to know?"
Stella Grant wrestled with her curiosity about work and her instinct to protect herself, for a few seconds, then said, "I don’t want to know."
Silas Sutton suddenly laughed, "If you don’t want to know, don’t ask. Go and revise the acquisition proposal."
The acquisition proposal Stella Grant previously gave Hugh York had flexibility built in, intended to give him room for negotiation.
Now that cooperation between both parties is basically a done deal, there’s no need to hold onto the bottom price. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Stella Grant walked into the bedroom, took out her laptop from the suitcase, and upon opening it, asked Silas Sutton, "Should I follow the price I previously proposed for the acquisition?"
Silas Sutton, fiddling with his phone, replied, "Yes."
Stella Grant asked again, "Do you need to review it after I revise it?"
Silas Sutton was busy sending messages to someone and didn’t immediately respond to her question. A minute later, he looked up at her and said, "Stella, Ray Woods saw my expression in the restroom earlier and found it very strange."
Upon hearing this, Stella Grant’s heart tightened suddenly.
Silas Sutton’s deep gaze fell on her, carrying a hint of scrutiny, "When he saw me, besides panic, there was no sign of anger over being cheated on by a girlfriend."
Stella Grant, "..."
Silas Sutton squinted slightly and asked, "Are the two of you acting in front of me?"
Stella Grant, "..."
Their eyes met, Silas Sutton’s eyes were clearly teasing, while Stella Grant tried hard to stay calm.
After a while, Silas Sutton snickered and said, "After you finish revising, send it directly to President York’s inbox, no need to show it to me."
Seeing Silas Sutton shift the topic back to work, Stella Grant secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "Okay."
After speaking, Silas Sutton didn’t stay in Stella Grant’s room much longer, grabbing his suit jacket and leaving.
As he opened the door, Stella Grant dared not even lift her head, apprehensive that he might regret and stay.
Only when she heard the door close did Stella Grant’s tense body relax abruptly.
Finally, he was gone.
Stella Grant finished revising the acquisition proposal by three o’clock in the morning, attached it to an email, and sent it to Hugh York. Then she stretched, got up to wash, and rested.
Probably due to the negotiations with Silas Sutton, coupled with revising the acquisition proposal, she was exhausted, leaving her without the energy to think about Kenneth Grant’s affairs. She took a hot shower and fell asleep immediately.
This sleep, Stella Grant slept exceptionally soundly.
Only until just before waking up did she have a brief dream.
In the dream, it was during her university days. Unable to afford tuition, Lynn Adler took her everywhere to borrow money.
Faced with indifference and ridicule, there was no need for much explanation.
Yet, even so, the tuition was still insufficient in the end.
Lynn Adler was so distressed that she cried, taking her to beg her uncle, Zeke Adler.
Facing Lynn Adler’s tearful plea, Zeke Adler sat on the sofa smoking silently, while her aunt, Lily Harrison, sarcastically taunted, "Sis, I don’t mean to criticize, but with your family’s circumstances, why send Stella to university? Last year’s twenty thousand dollars you borrowed from us was just barely paid back."
Lynn Adler, red-eyed, wiped her tears and said, "I’ve found a job as a hotel odd-jobber, I guarantee I can repay this money."
Lily Harrison, "A guarantee? What guarantee can you offer? With a monthly salary of two thousand eight hundred, after food and expenses, how much can you save?"
Lynn Adler, "The hotel I work at provides food and accommodation, so there’s no cost. Stella only needs five hundred a month for living expenses; the rest can be saved..."
Lynn Adler cried and said a lot, but ultimately, the money wasn’t lent.
As mother and daughter left The Adler Family, Lily Harrison slammed the door shut, mocking through the door, "It’s crazy, insisting on university with no money. You’re so pretty, working in a bar would earn much more... "
Dreaming back and forth, she remembered Lynn Adler seemed to want to rush back and argue with Lily Harrison, but the scene shifted, and suddenly she received a call from the school’s Discipline Office saying someone was willing to sponsor her unconditionally.
At that moment in the dream, the hotel’s landline suddenly rang.
Stella Grant frowned and opened her eyes, taking a deep breath. After a few seconds, she got up to answer the phone.
Connecting the call, the receptionist on the other end asked, "Miss Grant, a man named Kenneth Grant who claims to be your father wants to see you. Will you meet him?"
