Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 216: Terrifying Behemoth
"They’ve left." Lu Ke walked to the doorway and asked, having heard the conversation between Xu Yi, Corey, and Yuta.
"Yeah, they’ve already gone. This group is impressive. They’ve managed to hold out this long without a camp." Xu Yi couldn’t help but praise them, truly admiring their perseverance.
Anyway, he didn’t think he and Lu Ke could achieve that.
Without a camp, surviving on this island is incredibly difficult.
"Indeed remarkable, they’ve been exploring all along. If they found a place to settle, wouldn’t they be able to survive for 500 days?" Lu Ke was equally shocked when she heard about it.
She and Xu Yi both had experiences that showed just how dangerous this island could be.
To have lasted so many days without being eliminated, she couldn’t imagine how strong that group must be.
However, Xu Yi and Lu Ke would never have guessed that their strength was in their danger anticipation ability, allowing them to perfectly avoid those dangerous predators.
Without the threat of these predators, armed with their hunting bows and machetes, it was impossible for them to starve.
Moreover, they also had the strength to handle wolves, raccoon monkeys, and leopards.
With such abilities and danger anticipation, they could go long without needing a camp.
"Are we going hunting today?" Lu Ke stepped out of the doorway, planning to go downstairs to wash up and do a session of the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening. This routine needed to continue without interruption.
"Yeah, we can head out to survey the surrounding area." Xu Yi felt this part of the forest was still quite complex.
Wolves and raccoon monkeys, both territorial creatures, had come near their camp.
Hopefully, they would fight each other, which would keep their camp safe.
So, after they ate some jerky and packed some water, they headed deeper into the woods.
Not long after entering the forest, Xu Yi and Lu Ke saw two animals being startled away.
"Is that a leopard?" Lu Ke asked, sure it was a feline, though not certain if it was a leopard.
"It’s a lynx, also a feline." Xu Yi explained, having seen it more clearly.
"So that’s what it looks like, I’ve heard of them but never seen one." Lu Ke commented and then caught up with Xu Yi. Originally, she wanted to ask if they should take a closer look.
Upon closer inspection, Xu Yi spotted an animal’s carcass.
"It’s a fox, mostly devoured already." Xu Yi mentioned, picking up the fox tail to take back and use for a fur collar.
They continued forward.
After half an hour, Xu Yi suddenly caught a strong scent of blood, the intense aroma wafting over immediately.
Xu Yi drew his machete and said, "Stay alert, run if anything seems off."
Lu Ke nodded, gripping her crossbow tightly, following Xu Yi.
The blood scent was overpowering; she smelled it too.
A few minutes later, they saw a pair of massive wings.
A Flying Giant Beast, it was the corpse of a Flying Giant Beast?
Xu Yi and Lu Ke exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock in the other’s eyes.
A Flying Giant Beast had actually been killed.
Was it the raccoon monkeys?
They managed to bring down the Flying Giant Beast using stones?
So, dealing with a Flying Giant Beast might not be so hard after all, when even monkeys could bring it down with stones.
"Xu Yi, look over there..." Lu Ke tugged on Xu Yi’s sleeve, her voice filled with fear.
Xu Yi turned to look, taking a sharp breath.
There were several raccoon monkeys piled together, forming a heap of corpses.
"So, this Flying Giant Beast might not have been killed by these raccoon monkeys?" Xu Yi was at a loss for words, hoping it was indeed the raccoon monkeys that took it down.
It would mean the Flying Giant Beast wasn’t so terrifying.
However, by the looks of it, perhaps both the Flying Giant Beast and the raccoon monkeys were hunted by the same animal.
If that’s the case, it’s absolutely terrifying.
Xu Yi and Lu Ke wouldn’t stand a chance against these dozens of raccoon monkeys.
Even without them hurling stones, he and Lu Ke couldn’t possibly take down so many raccoon monkeys in one go.
The Flying Giant Beast, he couldn’t say, as he’d never faced one. But he had dealt with raccoon monkeys before, so he knew well their strength in battle.
He had been wounded by one even after hitting it with a crossbow arrow.
Such fearsome creatures, and yet a dozen had been massacred.
Even more chillingly, they had been stacked together.
What could this mean?
What kind of animal hunted them?
Could it be an advanced intelligent creature?
Xu Yi’s mind went blank.
Lu Ke licked her dry lips and tugged Xu Yi again.
"We should leave here, right?" She was utterly terrified, knowing all too well how strong the raccoon monkeys were. Especially since there were a dozen of them.
Whatever could do this could easily kill her and Xu Yi, right?
"Do you think it could be the two from group 403?" Xu Yi suddenly considered a possibility and blurted it out.
"Ah, no way, didn’t they say their points were less than 100?" Lu Ke doubted Xu Yi’s theory. Could humans really become that strong? 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
This involved a dozen raccoon monkeys and a Flying Giant Beast after all.
If they were that powerful, their points wouldn’t be just 100, right?
Of course, she hoped the people from group 403 weren’t telling the truth, that they were indeed that powerful.
At least they were still humans, and for now, couldn’t attack each other.
"Apparently not, not with those footprints there." Xu Yi pointed at a print, which was filled with blood.
Xu Yi walked over to measure it.
It matched the length of his machete.
"With feet this large, how big do you think it is, at least two or three meters tall, right?" Lu Ke felt a chill down her spine looking at the print.
"And it’s bipedal, not a four-legged animal." Xu Yi noted with a frown.
Humanoid, and an exceptionally large humanoid creature.
Could it possess intelligence?
Was its intelligence at the level of Homo sapiens?
These questions left Xu Yi deep in thought.
After all, this was an alien planet, so having intelligent beings was entirely possible.
If they were still primitive, like the Cannibal Race, then he, Lu Ke, and the other challengers on the island might become their food, right?
At that moment, Lu Ke suddenly exclaimed, "Xu Yi, we’re surrounded," as she released a crossbow arrow from her short crossbow.
