Lord of Myths: I Can Summon and Fuse Divine Powers.-Chapter 45: Escape of the Secret Room.
[Secret room — After sunset.]
Eirian was nervous at that moment.
At first he was very clear that he wanted to save those children who had been held captive.
However, now he realized that also meant betraying his family.
His father would surely be very angry with him.
His brother would surely feel disappointed.
However, he couldn’t leave those children alone either, it wasn’t right.
"Alright, you can do this, Eirian," the boy said to himself, as he approached the bars. "Agneyastra."
The young man said quietly, as the marks on his arm glowed with an intense scarlet color.
He approached the bars and began to expel heat from his hands, simply expelling the flow of ka out of his body.
The bars of the first cell melted, however there was no reaction from the demons, in fact some moved back with fear.
They were weakened and scared, something understandable given their situation.
"H-hey, don’t be afraid, okay? I’ve come to free you," the boy said somewhat nervously, but trying to sound friendly.
His reddish hair reflected orange colors with the torchlight.
The demons didn’t seem to fully understand what Eirian meant, and simply didn’t react.
"Come on, we have to get out of here," the boy insisted, taking a step inside the filthy cell.
The smell was horrendous, even more intense inside the cell, so much so that it was difficult for Eirian to breathe.
As he approached, the children in the cell dragged themselves backward, fear becoming increasingly evident on their faces.
Eirian felt sorry for them, they were emaciated, almost skeletal.
Condemned to live in that filthy place with barely any food or water to survive, surrounded by dirt and darkness.
That made Eirian sadder, but also filled him with determination.
He wasn’t going to ignore those children’s suffering, he was going to protect them.
Now more resolute, the young man extended his hand to them. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"You have nothing to fear now, you’re safe," the boy affirmed with a smile and a burning gaze.
At first the children hesitated, however, finally, one of the youngest girls in the group slowly stood up.
She was a girl with pink hair, and two magenta horns on her head.
She had a lizard tail the same color as her horns, which moved with difficulty.
The girl walked weakly toward Eirian, seeing her, some looked at her with fear, fearing something might happen to her.
However, the girl kept walking, until her hand reached the boy’s.
"A-are you going to take me to my mommy?" the girl asked with a hoarse and weak voice, but full of hope.
Eirian felt the girl’s hand in his, it was small, weak, fragile.
She was someone he had to protect.
The redhead nodded with determination.
"Yes, don’t worry," the boy answered firmly. "I’ll get you all out of here!"
Hearing that, the girl’s face relaxed.
"T-thank you," she responded, as the others stood up with difficulty.
Apparently, they now trusted Eirian.
They began to stand up, even helping others who were weaker.
Eirian felt a pleasant tingle on the back of his neck.
Was this what it felt like to help others?
It was much better than causing harm, Eirian was sure of it.
"Alright, now I’m going to get the others out," he indicated as he left the cell, looking for the others to help them too.
Then, the door at the end of the hallway burst open, and someone came out of it.
It wasn’t Alioth, but a girl, whose hair was made of snakes.
He recognized her immediately, she was the girl he had attacked and brought here.
Seeing her, Eirian felt some guilt, after all it was he who had attacked her.
"I need to get out of this place quickly, and tell someone what’s happening here," the girl said as she walked hurriedly toward the exit.
Then, their gazes met.
Eirian swallowed hard, while Ruth narrowed her eyes.
"U-uh, hello," the boy said somewhat nervously.
Ruth, however, frowned, recognizing her aggressor.
"You!" she exclaimed, as she started running toward him.
By reflex, Eirian extended his arms toward her nervously.
"W-wait, I—"
But Ruth didn’t let him continue, throwing a quick punch at his jaw, dislocating it.
If it weren’t for his orgone, Eirian would have gone flying with a broken skull.
"Now you’re going to get it, you bastard!" the girl roared as she threw another punch at him.
The boy covered himself with his arms, trying to defend himself, though deep down he knew he deserved those blows.
"Wait, calm down," the boy tried to convince her, however, Ruth didn’t listen.
Quickly she landed a kick to the boy’s privates, making him double over in pain.
"Calm down? There’s no way I’m calming down!" the girl roared furiously, as she grabbed the redhead by the hair.
However, suddenly, she felt something take her by the waist and try to push her weakly.
"D-don’t hit him! He’s going to take me to mommy," a small voice pleaded with difficulty.
Hearing it, Ruth turned, seeing it was a girl who was talking to her.
Seeing her, the girl released Eirian, looking at him with intrigue.
"What’s going on here?" the girl asked as she moved away from the young man.
Eirian was still doubled over in pain, some small tears fell from his eyes as he raised his gaze to see Ruth.
"I’ve come to save them, I’m not the enemy, not anymore," he said with difficulty.
Ruth raised an eyebrow, examining Eirian as if she wanted to decipher whether he was telling the truth or not.
"I see, well, okay, I believe you," she said, now calmer. "Though don’t think I’ll forget what you did to me so quickly."
Eirian nodded, he knew what he had done was wrong, it was normal for her to treat him like that.
When the pain finally subsided, he straightened up again.
"Alright, we need to get the children out of here, I’ll take care of melting the bars," the boy indicated, as Ruth nodded.
The boy went cell by cell melting the bars and inviting the children to come out.
Ruth seemed to be more charismatic when it came to convincing the children, so with her it was easier.
After that, Eirian and Ruth left followed by all the children.
"Do you know the way back?" Ruth asked doubtfully, as she followed Eirian who was starting to descend the hill.
The boy nodded, and guided her and the children along the path that led them out.
However, they didn’t have time to leave the hill.
"Huh?" Eirian’s instinct activated, as he stopped moving.
Then, right in front of him, a spear stuck into the ground.
It was his brother’s spear.
