Loved By a Vampire King-Chapter 620: Forbidden Love Tastes Sweet ( Ralph & Jasmine - Part 17)
" My lady! You look dull! Is everything all right? You should be happy today!"
The maid said with a smile, brushing Jasmine’s silky hairs. Months passed since the truth came into her knowledge. Oscar continued to act like a good husband. But Jasmine made the smart decision this time. In these months, she continued to act as well, pretending to be happy with Oscar but they were never intimate again. No matter how many times Oscar tried to touch her, she gave different excuses. She didn’t want to give her body to someone who cheated on her feelings.
Jasmine wore a fake smile, standing up to skip the maid’s words,
" It’s just my pregnancy hormones! Has everyone come yet?"
She couldn’t understand why Oscar bothered to arrange a baby shower today since he had all intention to kill her son. However, she couldn’t give any reaction. So, she followed what Oscar wished and dressed like a doll to greet the guests.
The baby shower program was thrown pretty exaggerating. Several people were invited from Oscar’s land including Jasmine’s family as well. Remembering of her family, Jasmine asked her maid anxiously who was loyal to her,
" Have you received any letter from them?"
The maid shook her head with disappointment. From the past few months, Jasmine used all the methods to contact her family. In fact, she ran to her father one night during the rain but was kicked out ruthlessly. She didn’t stop trying starting from sending letters and persons. However, she never received any response. In her mind, it was her family who could save her son and daughters.
Jasmine looked down to hide her tears. She knew her family too well. Once they cut the bond, there was no going back. It didn’t mean that she didn’t stop trying to contact Ralph. She performed the ritual again, tried to summon Ralph but nothing worked. She didn’t know that Ralph had cut all the ties with different realms. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to hold himself back if he felt Jasmine. It was his only way to keep his promise.
Jasmine didn’t blame Ralph for not coming. After all, she deserved all this. Wiping her eyes, she told the maid with a fake smile, tugging her veil one side,
" Let’s go! The guest must be waiting!"
The maid brought her downstairs in the event. The castle looked very different today with all those beautiful wild flowers, decorated in the walls. Jasmine had no attention on this arrangements. She was all in her head until Oscar’s chirping voice broke through her attention,
" There...my prettiest wife..."
Oscar held his hands up to bring her down from the stairs carefully. Today Jasmine really looked like a new bride. She had worn a customized pinkish gown today with long veil on it. The veil was covering half of her head, sliding down to the floor. Her beauty was never fading. She didn’t look like a mother with two children.
Jasmine smiled back a little. Oscar kissed on her forehead in front of the guests. It broke her heart to think that he was faking everything. However amidst the crowd, Jasmine couldn’t help but swiping her eyes across the corners in a hope to see someone.
Today was her baby shower! Wouldn’t he come, would he?
When she found no one, her heart sank in pain. Oscar introduced her to the officials and their families. As they all were on Oscar’s side of letting him be the king, she was told to behave politely. Oscar only cared about her image in front of these people. He didn’t even notice the sadness behind her eyes.
After the long row of introduction indeed, Jasmine was left alone finally. She couldn’t wait to get out of the suffocating atmosphere. Once it ended, she rushed outside of the castle, ending up near the ocean since their castle was built amidst the ocean. She sat by the bench alone numbly. Since there was no one around, she broke down into tears. She couldn’t take the lies and pain anymore.
Then she lifted her eyes to look up at the dark sky. She muttered, hoping that Ralph was listening to her,
" If you are watching me... please..come back... for once...I..I want to see you for once...For god’s sake.. just one more time, Ralph!! I...I really..."
Her words were interrupted when she heard the sound of wings flattering. Turning her head to the side, she saw little Arcabous & young Debisa, landing on the ground. They weren’t so grown up back at that time. During her stay in the castle, Jasmine had formed great bond with these two dragons even more than Oscar as she was the one who fed them, took care them when they were very little.
The dragons made animalistic noises as if they understood her pain. Jasmine smiled at the little ones, opening her arms to call them closer. The dragons played around her. Arcabous, the little one jumped on her feet, going up to down next to her. Jasmine rubbed its head and brought it closer to place it on her lap. Suddenly, she looked into her eyes and gasped in shock to see scenes in its eyes. Upon close inspection, she noticed that the events were from her past when she was young with her family.
Jasmine was shocked to know its ability. She understood that Arcabous could show the past to anyone. She was in daze for a while and thought about something that came in her mind. Bringing its head closer, Jasmine whispered to Arcabous with tears and smile on her lips,
" If you meet Ralph one day..tell him... that I fell in love with him but it was not our time..We..we are just the victim of vicious circle of our lives, Arcabous! At least, he will be happy to know that his love didn’t go in vain!! He won’t feel worthless anymore...I.. really..feel sorry for him.."
