Chapter 111: Ronan The Wolf

Arielle was diving into a dreamless sleep. In the darkness, she suddenly saw a pair of red beams shining at her and she felt familiar with the color. When Arielle approached, she could touch a soft black fur.

She suddenly found herself caught in a memory on a full moon night when she faced the huge wolf for the first time. The wolf had red eyes. Then Arielle also remembered something strange.

She remembered that she had been in a cave and saw a familiar man transformed into a huge wolf. Then her other memories appeared. She woke up on top of the wolf’s body and thanked it for saving her.

Arielle was still touching the black fur, and the gaze in the pair of red eyes looked really sharp. Arielle accidentally stepped back because she was afraid. That gaze was too intimidating.

The wolf in front of her growled. It opened its mouth wide as if it was going to eat her alive. Arielle, who was shocked and frightened, started screaming loudly.

"AAAAH!!!"

She jumped up from her sleep, making Ronan startled. The man rushed over as soon as he heard her voice.

"What is it, Arielle? What happened?" he asked frantically.

Arielle’s breath was bated. She now panted like someone who had just finished running laps. Sweat began to trickle down her temples, and her lips trembled violently. Ronan cupped her cheeks to make her look at him.

Arielle saw a pair of red eyes looking at her, and the fear she felt earlier immediately came back. "Get away from me...!"

Arielle slapped Ronan’s hand away and stood up from the bed, she landed on the thick furry carpet.

"Arielle?" called Ronan, confused by the girl’s fear. "What’s wrong?"

The man tried to circle his bed to get closer to Arielle, but the girl backed away in fear. Ronan’s heart ached to get the treatment just now from Arielle.

"Arielle, what’s the matter? Tell me if I did something wrong," said the man who felt sad as he watched the girl’s shaking body.

"W-Who are you?" asked Arielle in a trembling voice.

"Me? I’m Ronan. It’s me. Don’t you recognize me anymore?"

"No-no, you’re not Ronan... if you are... then who is the black wolf?"

Ronan didn’t understand what had happened. He needed an explanation. What black wolf did Arielle mean? How could it be sudden?

"What wolf?"

"I-I... I-I kind of remember seeing you... transform... into a big wolf... I-I was just hallucinating, wasn’t I? Y-you weren’t... a wolf, right?"

Ronan’s eyes widened in surprise and his throat became parched and dry. Words couldn’t come out of his mouth. . The man remained silent. He looked at Arielle sadly as his heart ached even more from her reaction of pure dread.

Ronan wasn’t ready to talk about that topic or introduce his wolf side to Arielle yet. He was afraid of getting a response like this and now it finally came true.

No. He wasn’t ready to give up.

Ronan bent down and reached out to touch Arielle’s skirt which now hung on the floor. Ronan gripped the fabric so tightly and felt desperation sink in.

"I ... don’t want to talk about it now," said Ronan wearily, with his head bowed in regret.

"Why? That means... is it true... are you that wolf monster?" asked Arielle as fear started to overcome her. The girl hugged her knees and cornered herself under the nightstand. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Ronan clenched his jaws hard in frustration at Arielle’s fear. "You’re going to leave me, aren’t you? If I told you the truth, you’ll definitely leave me, isn’t that right?"

In her dream, Arielle was attacked by the red-eyed wolf. Would that happen too?

Her tears started to fall. Arielle slowly wept in fear. Ronan looked at Arielle, who was crying, with mixed feelings. He wanted to hug the girl immediately, but the girl’s cries stopped him.

"Are you going to pounce on me?" asked Arielle between her tears. "Are you being nice so I don’t fight back when you tear me to pieces? Why me? I still want to live longer... I don’t want to die now..."

"Arielle? What are you saying? I won’t hurt you at all, not an inch. I wouldn’t even let my hands touch you..."

Ronan began to despair because Arielle would not stop crying in fear. He was too confused and also hurt by everything that was happening right now.

Arielle, who was previously asleep in such a peaceful manner, suddenly became hysterical and cowered away from him. And now the girl also wanted to ask about his wolf side? How could she remember it?

It pained him so much.

"Arielle, please. Let’s talk calmly," said Ronan, who now only stared down at the floor. He didn’t dare to raise his head just to see Arielle’s frightened face. It would only break his heart even more.

"Tania... help me..."

Ronan tried to cover his ears when Arielle started to call for Tania. It reminded him too much of bitter memories of the past. He was now too hurt to even think calmly.

"Arielle, please don’t be like this... you’re scaring me," said Ronan desperately.

The image of his mother crying in the corner of the room swinging a dagger at him made Ronan feel sick in the stomach. And now it was Arielle’s turn to loathing him.

Why? Why did it have to be like this? Out of all the people in his family, why did it even have to be him? How could this happen when he was so happy with Arielle by his side? Why did it suddenly become like this?

Ronan growled loudly and clenched his fist together. It made Arielle push herself even closer to the wall.

The king’s breath hitched with his emotions. His sense of hearing grew sharper. He could clearly hear the laughter of the party in the palace hall. His instincts grew stronger when he sensed someone was headed towards his room at a leisurely pace.

Arielle’s eyes widened in horror when the king’s body tore through the clothes he wore. He transformed into a wolf in the blink of an eye, and his human voice disappeared completely.

Arielle covered her mouth and shook her head. She silently pleaded with the black wolf in front of her not to come close. That red piercing gaze was just like her dream.

Arielle’s heart skipped a beat as the black wolf stepped closer with a low growl.

"Don’t... come closer..." Arielle begged. She had no room to escape.
