Chapter 125: Rabbits And Mud

Ronan watched Arielle, who was busy making the rabbits comfortable in his arms while he felt uncomfortable. The girl looked up with a radiant face making Ronan speechless. Instead of being annoyed, the man smiled broadly.

"You want to touch the stag, right? Go ahead, I can take care of the rabbits," said the man, feeling an inner conflict.

The stable boy grabbed the rope and offered to tie the deer first so as not to surprise the princess with its movement. The deer might suddenly become wild. Arielle refused because she didn’t want to make the deer uncomfortable.

Arielle lifted her skirt a little, so as not to get smudged with the mud. She grabbed her coat and placed it on her lap. Arielle was now sitting parallel to the stag.

The stag just snorted, not bothered by Arielle’s presence. Arielle could see her reflection in the deer’s round eyes, which were staring at her intently.

The girl reached out her hand to touch the top of the deer’s head. The deer responded by snorting and closing its eyes. Arielle had to be a little careful because the deer’s antlers were quite wide, with many branches that were three times larger than the deer’s head itself.

"Sorry to make you come here. You’ll be back at your house in a minute," Arielle said, and the deer could only respond with a soft snort. Arielle looked at the deer and smiled. She rubbed the deer’s neck gently.

Ronan was always in awe of Arielle’s tenderness towards the animals she met. His heart warmed, remembering how the girl fought her fears to grab his paw in the form of a wolf. The girl’s soul really seemed to be able to bring peace to him.

The man admired Arielle so much that he didn’t notice that one of the biggest rabbits had jumped out of his arms and followed Arielle. Ronan, who was surprised, tried to reach the rabbit, making the rest of the rabbit in his hand splattered on the mud. They also splendidly splashed his clothes with the mud. Even Riel, the rabbit that he considered special, also betrayed him by free-falling into a mud puddle.

Arielle was still busy stroking the body of the stag in front of her. The young man who kept the cage itself tensed when he saw the rabbit’s white fur turn brown and dirty the princess’s hair.

The young man looked scared at the king, feeling confused about what to do. Ronan tried to grab Riel to carry him back. He didn’t care about his dirty clothes.

It felt like Riel still wanted to play because the little creature kicked the king’s mask, making Ronan surprised. The young man rushed to help the king pick up the rabbits back from the muddy puddle.

Arielle was thinking about the fate of the deer in front of her. She furrowed her brows when she saw a brown object jump at her. It startled the stag she was petting, so it stood up so fast, making Arielle splash in the mud.

Arielle rushed to her feet, trying to calm the deer, who was retreating. It got surprised by the attack of the brown furballs that were wandering in front of it.

The stable boy released the two rabbits he had taken and hurriedly grabbed the rope to restrain the deer from running or stepping on the princess’s rabbits.

"Huh? What’s wrong?" asked Arielle. She panicked as she reached out her hand, trying to touch the stag in front of her.

The skirt of her dress was covered in mud, and so was her coat. After successfully touching the deer’s neck, Arielle stroked the stag’s brown fur gently a few times, and the stag slowly stopped backing away.

Arielle looked back to see what had happened. Ronan was busy chasing Riel, so the stable boy had now turned to chase her two biggest rabbits.

"Your Majesty?" Arielle was surprised to see the king’s clothes were now covered with mud. There were even brown footprints on the mask the man was wearing.

After making sure the stag behind her calmed down again, Arielle grabbed the king’s body and pushed him away from the mud.

"Let me do it, you stay here," the girl said.

It didn’t take much effort for Arielle. The rabbits automatically followed her without being chased first. Arielle also grabbed Riel, who had fallen on the snow, making a pile of snow that was as white as cotton dirty because of their muddied bodies.

Arielle let out a long sigh, seeing the very dirty rabbits. This was her fault. Arielle knew that the king was not good with animals, and she forced her will to ask the man to take care of her wild rabbits.

So this was the result. Arielle couldn’t have bothered Tania or Lucas to clean them.

After collecting the five rabbits that had turned brown, Arielle now turned to Ronan, who was standing with dirty clothes.

"Your Majesty, sorry for making you like this. I didn’t think they would be this wild and make your clothes dirty," Arielle said regretfully.

Ronan looked at his body.

"You don’t need to apologize. I can’t take care of them myself," the man replied, reaching for Arielle’s dirty body. Her dress was covered in mud and so did the girl’s white hair. It was splashed by mud earlier when the stag was kicking up a fuss.

"Looks like we have to clean up," said Ronan, leading Arielle to leave the area where the deer were.

Arielle’s face flushed with embarrassment as the several knights still on the grounds of the Colosseum stared at her questioningly.

Likewise, Kael even stopped his sparring activity with one of the other knights. He just wanted to make sure that the man he saw walking with Arielle with muddied clothes was Ronan.

Kael was wondering, who was that king’s sparring partner that succeed in making the king’s body full of mud like that? To Kael’s knowledge, Ronan never lost in combat and nobody could wrestle him to the ground, not even Kael himself.

Sometimes he sparred with the king, yet they ended in a draw, and Kael never really got to make Ronan’s clothes dirty.

The king didn’t care about the stares of his knights or Kael’s, he kept leading Arielle back to Blackthorn Palace.
