Chapter 314: A Little Trip For Arielle

After Ronan left the room, an apprentice priest came to visit Arielle.

"Namina?"

"Good afternoon, Princess. His Majesty the King assigned me to assist you."

"Assist me?"

Namina nodded with a wide smile. Arielle allowed him to enter. She sat on a sofa, waiting for what help Namina would offer her.

"May you extend your hand, Your Highness?" asked Namina who stood beside her.

Arielle hesitated to extend her hand because she remembered what had happened to Priest Khan when they touched. Priest Khan was hurt. What if she hurt Namina, too?

"You don’t have to worry, Your Highness," said the child calmly.

With a little confidence, Arielle stretched out her hand. Namina tugged at her sleeve and formed a simple trigram on her left hand. The child’s palm hung above Arielle’s palm.

Arielle didn’t feel their hands touching, but she could feel the warmth that Namina was sending for her. When they were in Frostmount Village, Namina also did the same. He helped to warm Arielle’s body.

After warming up Arielle’s body, Namina was allowed to leave the princess’s room.

"Thanks for your help, Namina."

"With pleasure, Your Highness," replied Namina, then left the room after he closed the door.

Arielle didn’t feel cold anymore. The wrinkles on her fingers from soaking for too long had also disappeared because of Namina’s help. While waiting for Ronan, Arielle cleaned up some of the broken glass around her dressing table. She also kept the rabbits away from getting hurt.

Just as Arielle finished collecting the shards of glass, Ronan arrived with warmer clothes and a cloth covering his face, and a robe. Usually, he would only cover his face with a cloth when he planned to go out of the palace. In one of his hands was another black robe. The man took Arielle’s hand away from the glass shards.

"Leave that. Let the maid clean it up."

"Don’t you want to know why this mirror broke?" Ronan glanced at the broken mirror, then shrugged nonchalantly.

"You can tell me later, but if you don’t want to talk, then I don’t need to know."

"But I had broken your property."

Ronan put on a robe for Arielle and led her out of the room. He immediately closed the door when he saw one of Arielle’s rabbits jumping out of the basket to follow her.

"Arielle, I can afford to replace the mirror with a diamond, if you wish. There’s no need to worry about things like that."

"I’m sorry," Arielle whispered in a soft voice.

"There is nothing to be sorry for. It’s not your fault."

Arielle looked up at the man beside her and smiled. "That smile suits you way better than a frowning face."

The girl looked away, embarrassed. She wondered why Ronan had so many words to make her feel embarrassed like this. The man also smiled behind his mask.

Arriving in front of the Whitethorn palace, a huge black horse was waiting for them. It was Ronan’s favorite horse. Although the man didn’t like animals, he looked quite close to the black-maned horse. The horse was very dashing and charming, just like the owner.

"Are we going out?" asked Arielle, who did not see any other horses there.

"Yes, we’ll have fun outside the palace," replied the man enthusiastically, then lifted Arielle to get on his horse first and followed her.

Ronan wanted Arielle to forget everything that had happened, and leaving the palace for a while would be a good choice. If they continued to stay here, Ronan was certain that she would definitely feel sad again. Maybe when she accidentally met Priest Elis or anyone who reminded her of that incident.

Besides, he also wanted to spend time alone with Arielle without anyone disturbing them like this morning. Although, after this, he should have solved Lazarus’ problems and confirmed whether Crimson was Lazarus’ daughter or not.

Hence, Arielle was more important right now. Lazarus could wait until tomorrow. The most important thing was, Lazarus was already in the palace, and Kael and William were keeping an eye on him.

Ronan pulled the reins of his horse and left the palace. The night would come soon as the sky was getting darker along with the temperature dropping. Ronan rode his horse at medium speed. He put the hood on Arielle’s robe as they passed through the forest that surrounded the palace.

"Ronan, where are we going?" asked Arielle. She raised her voice a little because her voice was muffled by the gust of wind.

"I plan to have dinner with you, but if there’s somewhere else you’d like to go, we can stop there for a bit."

Arielle shook her head.

"I’ll go with you," she replied.

"You’re the best," he said while gently nudging Arielle’s head with his head.

"Ronan, ride properly please." She utter a protest when she felt Ronan was not looking ahead.

Ronan just laughed. "How can I focus when you are in my arm like this?"

"Ronan..."

"Okay, I understand."

***

Ronan stopped his horse at a fairly large inn. From the outside, it looked very elegant, with a row of glass walls on the first floor. Arielle had never seen this place before. When she thought about it, she hadn’t explored the capital of Northendell.

"Why are we here?" asked Arielle, while looking at the building in front of her.

"To have dinner."

The girl looked up ahead for clues about what place in front of her was. Ronan handed his horse to a servant standing guard at the door. Then, the man led Arielle in. When they entered the first floor, Arielle was flabbergasted to see the interior of the inn. It was luxurious.

"This is the best inn in all of Northendell. Since I don’t like the higher-ups or nobles staying at the palace, I’ve prepared this place for them to stay if they wish."

A servant recognized Ronan. The man strode towards his king and bowed respectfully.

"Your Majesty, Long Live the King of Northendell Kingdom," the servant greeted with his head hanging low.

"Your Majesty, Long Live the King of Northendell Kingdom," the servant greeted with his head hanging low.

Ronan raised his hand, too lazy to make small talk. The servant understood the gesture and let Ronan and Arielle go to a special room for the king. Ronan hardly ever visited the inn, but he always had a special room reserved for him. However, because the room was rarely used, Ronan also allowed Lazarus to use it.

The room was on the second floor, near a large glass window with a luxurious interior. Arielle felt they were in another part of the palace. Ronan pulled a chair toward her and sat across from the girl.

"This is... an inn?"

Ronan nodded. A manager in charge of guarding the inn was there to welcome Ronan and Arielle.

"Your Majesty, Long Live the King of Northendell Kingdom."

Ronan nodded, accepting the man’s greeting. With careful steps, the manager approached Ronan to give him the menu of the food they had.

Arielle left everything to Ronan because she did not understand any of the food listed on the menu. After receiving the order from the king, the manager bolted out of the room.

"Is this a special room?" asked Arielle while looking around the room.

"I also have a special room here, but I never use it. This inn is quite close to the palace, so there is no need to stay here."

"Ah, although it’s never been used, this room is well-maintained."

"I often let Lazarus use it," Rion said.
