Chapter 315: Ronan’s Trick Question

"Lazarus?"

"That guy likes to party, and I give him permission to use this room but not the bedroom."

Arielle stood up from her chair, then walked closer to the glass window. This inn turned out to be very close to the town square because she could see the painting supplies shop she had visited with Lucas.

"The view in my room is much better," said Ronan, who was still faithfully sitting in his place.

"Is that true? Can I see it?" asked Arielle, beaming with a cheerful smile.

Ronan smiled mischievously. He was sure what was in his head must be far different from what Arielle was thinking. He looked at her with a calculating gaze, and Arielle was still waiting for the man’s answer.

"Of course, you can, but we will come back at night because the view is much more beautiful. We can walk around the town first," he replied.

Arielle smiled cheerfully and looked back at the expansion of the scenery outside.

"Ignorance is bliss," Ronan muttered while suppressing his smile.

After finishing their lunch, Ronan asked Arielle for a walk around the town square. Slowly the girl began to cheer up again. With their hands intertwined, Arielle and Ronan walked down the city streets.

Both Arielle and Ronan were wearing their hoods. Arielle’s status as a royal princess had been announced in Nieverdell, and it was possible that the news could have spread to Northendell. Ronan didn’t want to make Arielle feel uncomfortable by the gazes of the surrounding people.

"Is there something you want to buy?" asked Ronan as they passed a food stall.

"Hm..." Arielle thought for a moment and looked back at a painting supplies store. "Maybe when we get back, I’ll buy a new canvas and brush."

"Of course. Besides that?"

Arielle swept her gaze to her surroundings and shook her head.

"Are you sure there is nothing else you want to buy?"

"I just want to take a stroll to the square," replied Arielle, pulling Ronan’s hand to make him walk faster.

Arielle stepped into the area she was familiar with. She recognized some shops she passed while looking for gifts for Ronan. As it was getting late, some shop and house owners started turning on the lights in front of their houses one by one.

Although it didn’t snow that afternoon, the temperature was chilly to make Arielle walk with her body close to Ronan’s arm.

"I remember that shop!" Arielle pointed at a jewelry store she visited to pick up Lucas’s gift for Ronan. "Lucas bought a present for you there."

Ronan nodded slowly. Arielle was about to turn around to head towards the direction of the square, but Ronan grabbed her hips and led the girl in another direction.

"Eh, but the square is over there?" said Arielle, a little unsure of where they were going.

"I want to buy something," the man replied casually and walked towards the jewelry shop that Arielle had pointed at earlier.

Arielle, who was confused, could only come along. However, at the door of the shop, she prevented Ronan from entering.

"You want to buy something?" asked Arielle.

The man shook his head. "Not me but you."

"Me? But I don’t need any jewelry right now," the girl replied in confusion.

"I know, but you have to buy it."

Arielle blinked her eyes, still not understanding. She didn’t have any reason to buy jewelry. There was no event whatsoever to make her wear jewelry.

Besides... she didn’t dare to accept any more jewelry. She was worried that the jewelry would be lost again, as it had in Nieverdell. Arielle was afraid of being careless and lost it for the second time.

"But I don’t really need it now," she insisted.

Ronan thought for a moment. "I’m not doing this for you. You promised you would pamper me today, right?"

"Ah!" Arielle just remembered that. The girl nodded in understanding. "Then, we should head back and I will pamper you all day!"

Ronan raised his index finger, asking Arielle to listen to him. "No, no. You can pamper me from now on."

"Now? How to?"

"I’m carrying too much money, so help me lighten my pocket."

"Huh?" Arielle tilted her head, still not understanding what the man meant. Ronan chuckled and spread his robe so that Arielle could see a red velvet pouch hanging tightly around his waist and above his sword, which was also slung over his hip.

"I am not used to carrying this many coins. So it feels very heavy, and now it’s your job to lighten it up."

Without waiting for her reaction, Ronan gently pushed Arielle into the jewelry store. The shop owner, who was wiping one of his rings, got up to greet the customer.

Ronan showed him his gold ring. To show his royal crest.

"Your Majesty!" the man said excitedly. "Long Live The King of Northendell’s Kingdom. Is there anything I can do to offer you, Your Majesty?"

"I want to see all your latest jewelry right now," said Ronan, making the man smile widely.

"Very well, Your Majesty!"

All this confused Arielle. She stood awkwardly in front of Ronan, who was holding both of her shoulders from behind.

When the owner of the shop appeared with two sets of emerald green and opaque yellow jewelry, Ronan pushed the girl closer.

"So, which one do you want? Green or yellow?" asked Ronan while pointing at the two jewelry sets consisting of earrings, a necklace, and two bracelets in each of the black velvet boxes.

Arielle wasn’t sure. She had never been in a situation like this before. She paid close attention to the two sets of jewelry. Both of them were equally beautiful. If Arielle knew the price, then she would choose the cheaper one.

"Uhm... I prefer ...."

The girl’s eyes ran towards the two sets of jewelry in turn. She was confused! Did she need to choose randomly?

Arielle’s finger was about to point at the emerald green jewelry set, but Ronan cut it off.

"Wrong answer," said the man, causing Arielle to look back.

"Wrong? Then is this yellow one better?" asked Arielle in a contemplated tone.

"Wrong too," replied Ronan casually.

"Then?"

"That was a trick question, and the answer is, you get both!"

"Huh?" Arielle furrowed her brows in confusion.

Ronan shook his head slowly, then cupped Arielle’s face. "You are very beautiful. Any kind of jewelry would suit you, so the answer to the question is all the rows of jewelry in this display case."

"All!?"

The jewelry shop owner smiled as if he had won an incredible jackpot today.

"Send all the jewels in the display case to the palace. You’ll get paid there."

The man bowed respectfully. "Long Live The King of Northendell Kingdom! Long Live the King!"

Arielle was getting confused by the situation. Ronan pushed Arielle out of the shop and went to the boutique, which Arielle had also visited before.

The shopkeeper who recognized the king immediately called the owner and designer in the shop. The designer treated Ronan with respect, just like the owner of the jewelry store did earlier.

Ronan looked at some catalogs and gave Arielle a choice. This time, the price was listed in the catalog, so that when Ronan asked her, she could make her choice without hesitation.

Of all the designs available, Arielle chose the simplest dress at the cheapest price, even though the cheapest was still very expensive for Arielle.

Ronan looked over at Arielle’s choices for a bit and nodded in agreement.
