Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 318: Deep Talk
After Arielle and Ronan returned to the inn, they were taken to the fourth floor, and Arielle could see the town square more closely. It was brighter than she thought it was. The inn was extremely luxurious. Without needing to explain, she immediately knew that only nobles could afford to stay in this place.
Perhaps because of the agenda of opening the palace to citizens who needed the presence of royal officials, Ronan provided another place for them so some nobles who lived far from the capital could rest here without having to stay at the palace.
"It’s spectacular," said Arielle, seeing the bright lights in the square.
She could see a statue of a wolf with a fountain in the middle lit up in various colors. Arielle could also see a fairly small palace from where she was. Northendell Palace looked dazzling from here, especially in the Cathedral tower.
Although the palace looked dazzling, the forest that surrounded it looked dark and cold.
"Ronan, when are we going back home? The air will be freezing if we come home late at night," said Arielle, who was still looking at the magnificent scenery in front of her.
Ronan walked closer to Arielle. He had taken off his robe, coat, and belt, along with his sword. The man hugged her from behind and lightly kissed the girl’s cheek.
"Who said we are going home tonight?" asked Ronan, with a seductive voice right in her ear. His lips grazed against her earlobe.
"Shall we stay here?"
"Where do you want us to stay?"
Arielle let go of the man’s arms and walked around the room. She hadn’t had time to take a tour because she was curious about the sight that Ronan had said. Ronan just let Arielle do whatever she wanted and chose to lie down on the bed while watching her wander around the room.
"They take good care of this room," Arielle said while looking at a painting of the Northendell palace from a distance.
"Who painted this?" she asked, pointing at the painting on the wall.
"I don’t know. I don’t really care about that kind of furniture."
Arielle watched the painting carefully. Exquisite. The painter was able to depict Northendell’s palace almost as well as the original. Arielle’s ability was clearly not comparable to the painter. Even the paintings of Ronan she made still used the wrong colors.
The other furniture, which was dominated by gold, was clearly made just for Ronan only. Arielle touched the gold vase without flowers that was on the fireplace.
"How long are you going to check every piece of furniture in this room?" asked Ronan, who was getting bored.
Arielle laughed a little and sat on one of the coaches by the fire to warm herself. Ronan got up and reached for the bottle of wine that had been prepared for him.
The man sat on the couch in front of Arielle and poured himself a glass of wine. He knew Arielle didn’t drink wine, so he didn’t ask her to join in. The girl grabbed the Frostberry fruit that the inn maid had prepared.
One hand held the wine glass, and the other slipped between Arielle’s slender fingers, then held it tightly. The two of them drifted into silence as they watched the fire gobbling the firewood in the fireplace.
The solemn atmosphere was perfect to start a deep conversation. Ronan pulled her hand closer to him. Initially, Arielle would refuse, but she needed Ronan’s warmth far more now. She stood up and sat on his lap.
Their gazes locked for quite a long time before Ronan brought Arielle’s head to rest on his shoulder.
"It’s just the two of us. You can tell me everything. I will hug you tightly. So, how are you feeling right now?"
Arielle didn’t answer the man’s question immediately but nudged her face to Ronan’s shoulder to stop herself from crying.
"Ronan, I already know a little about my mother," the girl said. Ronan only responded by nodding. "Her name is Mirabelle, and she is my father’s legal wife. So I’m not completely an illegitimate child."
Ronan nodded again, letting Arielle tell him everything.
"Duke Pellington said my mother was a slave whom Duke Pellington freed. He planned to take her as his wife." Arielle paused again to see Ronan’s response, but the man just listened in silence.
"My mother left Duke Pellington’s residence and worked as a servant in one of my father’s manors in the same area as Duke Pellington’s residents. Father and mother got married in one of the nearby cathedrals," Arielle explained with a hoarse voice.
She continued tearfully. "So, my mother was my father’s wife who was not registered in the palace Cathedral like his other wives. That was why... people considered father and mother’s marriage to be invalid because it was carried out outside the palace."
And Duke Pellington’s obsession with Mirabelle was passed down to Arielle.
"So, I’m just the daughter of a slave. There’s no way I’m a descendant of the Moon Goddess. I live my day as usual. Growing up without experiencing weird things."
Ronan nodded. He understood the girl’s concern. The fact Arielle had known her mother’s identity was something good, but he didn’t really mind it. He chose Arielle as his life partner, not because of her background.
"Then..." Arielle continued with a dubious tone.
Ronan turned to the girl and gave her a gentle look. Arielle was also looking at him. Both of them were immersed in each other’s reflection in their eyes.
"I’m afraid I will disappoint you in the future."
"Disappoint me?"
Arielle grabbed the wine glass Ronan was holding in his other hand and swirled it slowly to smell the sweet aroma of the wine.
"Priest Elis and Priest Khan said I have power. But what if they are wrong? I’m afraid everyone puts high expectations on me. When it’s proven that I have nothing to be proud of, they will be disappointed. What if you are also disappointed in me later?" asked Arielle with a sorrowful face.
Ronan cupped Arielle’s face and pressed his forehead against hers.
"That’s not gonna happen, Arielle. No matter what happens in the future, I will always be with you, support you and also catch you if you fall. I will kill anyone who hates you."
