Chapter 317: The Hard Choice For Arielle

"But, Miss. What is your name?" asked a boy who stood near her.

"Arielle. My name is Arielle," Arielle replied quickly and then hurriedly left the group of children.

Arielle came down from the edge of the fountain and right on the other side of the fountain, Ronan was sitting alone with his arms crossed. She walked slowly from behind and hugged him.

"You’ve been waiting here all this time?" she asked warmly.

Ronan smiled in amusement.

"I’ve been following you behind all this time," replied the man in annoyance.

"Forgive me. I was too carried away by the atmosphere. They are so bright that it makes me happy and unknowingly spend some of your money."

Ronan grabbed Arielle’s hand to leave the square. It was night, and it was getting colder outside. He said nothing, which made Arielle feel guilty. She was supposed to be spending time with Ronan today and ended up playing with a bunch of little kids.

As she passed the outskirts of the square, Arielle climbed up the barrier steps and walked ahead of the man. Now, her position was higher than Ronan’s. She stepped back while dropping her head a little.

"I apologize," she said, but Ronan ignored her. "This is my first time having this much money, so I got carried away. I promise to be more frugal next time."

Ronan continued to walk, making Arielle stop in her tracks. When he felt Arielle was no longer following him, he stopped and looked back. The girl was looking at him with a deep frown.

"If you are angry because I used your money to pay for all the food, scarves, drinks, and children’s toys earlier. Give me time to sell my dresses. I’d pay you back. I don’t want you to be mad at me."

Ronan could no longer pretend to hold back his annoyance. Seeing Arielle, who thought that he was angry because of the money, was the cutest thing he had ever seen. Ronan was chuckling, and his chuckles turned to laughter, and for the first time Ronan burst out laughing in public.

Arielle, who stood in her place, was confused by Ronan’s change in attitude. The man walked closer to Arielle and pulled down the cloth that partially covered his face.

"Am I mad at you? Of course not, Arielle. I’m just teasing you." replied Ronan between his laughs.

"You are teasing me?"

The man was still laughing while holding his stomach, which started to hurt. Even his eyes were watery from laughing too much. He just nodded because he couldn’t speak after seeing Arielle’s innocent face. Her expression was cute.

The man hugged Arielle’s body tightly. "How can I be mad that you spent my money when I asked for it myself, Arielle?"

"You’re not angry?"

"Doesn’t my laugh prove that I’m not angry?" asked Ronan as he looked up because Arielle stood at the edge of the square, so the girl got taller than him.

Arielle slapped the man’s shoulder lightly. "You are so mean. Wicked man. I am worried, you know."

"I’m wicked? What about someone who has forgotten my existence earlier?"

Arielle took one step up and wrapped her arms around Ronan’s neck. She hopped to his broad back when Ronan’s hands went down to her thighs, keeping her from falling to the ground.

"I just feel a bit lonely, but I have to admit that I really enjoy watching you play with the kids so cheerfully. It also makes me feel happy too." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Arielle hugged the man’s neck and Ronan continued to piggyback her out of the square to return to the inn.

However, before they went to the inn, Ronan stopped in front of the painting supplies store as Arielle wanted.

"But your coin is only half," said Arielle, showing that Ronan’s pouch had shrunk considerably. Even though there was only half left, Renan’s money was still enough to buy a lot of canvas and brushes.

"It’s not mine anymore. You are free to use it," said Ronan casually.

Arielle still had doubts. She wasn’t sure if she could really use the money freely again.

After Ronan put her down, the two entered the shop. Arielle used the money more carefully than before. Ronan said that she could use it as she wanted, but it might be because the man didn’t want to make her feel guilty.

Arielle must understand it without him telling her. She promised not to overspend the money again.

Arielle stood in front of a row of canvas shelves. She wanted the big canvas but ended up with the smallest canvas. Arielle must know the boundaries. She already had the big one in the palace. Lucas bought her a new one right after she came back.

"Are you sure you want to buy the small size?" asked Ronan, looking at some of the other canvas sizes.

"Yeah, I don’t need a bigger one. There are still many large canvases that Lucas bought before. I want to paint on a small canvas," she replied, then got a nod from Ronan.

Ronan didn’t interrupt her like last time, so it means Arielle made the right choice.

It was time to choose the brush. Arielle took two mediums and one small brush.

"Are you sure that’s all you need?" asked Ronan again.

"Yeah."

"Are you sure?"

"I’m sure. The brush can be used multiple times for different colors."

Ronan didn’t interrupt her again. He just nodded at Arielle’s choice. Both of them were standing in front of a line of various colors of paint. Arielle was confused now. Her heart wanted all those colors, but remembering what had happened earlier, she became hesitant.

She picked up some basic colors and Ronan still watched her without saying anything. Arielle glanced at Ronan doubtfully. Without looking at what was in front of her, she picked all the colored paint from the edge of the paint table, then put it in the basket, making Ronan smile widely.

"That’s my girl," said Ronan proudly.
