Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 346: Arielle’s First Lesson
Arielle reached into her pocket and handed Lucas a folded piece of paper that she had written earlier. "Please give this to His Majesty the King."
Lucas looked at the folded paper for a moment. The man nodded in understanding and accepted it.
"Thank you."
"Is there anything else I can help you with, Your Highness?"
"No, that was all."
"Then, I’ll excuse myself."
After Arielle and Lord Edmund got acquainted with each other, Lucas excused himself to leave the room. He would come back to escort the princess when the designer had arrived.
"So, what basics do I need to learn today, Sir Edmund?" Arielle asked. She couldn’t wait to start her lesson.
Lord Edmund smiled, then he took a book from the pile of books brought by Lucas earlier. "I will explain some of the types of funds the queen will have and its purpose."
Lord Edmund also explained the financial basis of the kingdom, which was divided into three; royal funds, king funds, and queen funds. And now Arielle would learn about the queen’s fund first.
The queen’s source of funds was not as much as what the king had. Most of the queen’s funds were used for charity events and scholarships for priest apprentices that were qualified to receive the funds.
Lord Edmund also explained about the flow of the use of funds slowly. The queen had the freedom to use the funds without the consent of the king because the queen’s funds were independent.
Arielle copied down some things she needed to remember and Lord Edmund would patiently wait until the princess finished copying down what was needed.
"Then, at the end of every month, the use of the funds will be given to the king as a report, so the king can adjust the funds for the queen in the following year."
"May I ask?"
"Sure, please, Your Highness."
Lord Edmund could always answer all of Arielle’s questions by using sentences that the girl could easily understand. Arielle was also not shy about asking many things if she didn’t understand, although it had been explained.
Arielle saw all the flow of funds and reports that would become her responsibility.
"Am I going to do all of this? Keeping the payment receipt and making the report myself?"
"Of course not, Your Highness. The king will form a team for you later. Your job is making sure the report they write fits with the funds you have spent. Then, give them your approval."
Arielle was quite relieved to hear that. She thought if she did everything alone, then she would never see the outside world again. Lord Edmund explained about some events that were often held by the previous queens.
Arielle was starting to understand why Ronan disliked the royal gathering so much at the palace. In the past, almost eighty percent of the funds owned by the queen were used to invite the nobles to have parties and tea together.
Besides consuming a lot of money, it also made the work piled up. Lord Edmund said the reports of all funds related to royal members would end up on the king’s desk.
Arielle’s lessons last up to several hours. The girl was very focused on absorbing all the information Lord Edmund had explained. Until someone knocked on the door.
Lucas came to tell Arielle that her lesson was over and she had a schedule to see a designer.
Arielle stood up to shake hands with Lord Edmund.
"Thank you very much for your time, Lord Edmund. I learned a lot today. I promise at our next meeting, I will have memorized all you have taught me."
"It is an honor for me to be your teacher, Your Highness. I promise to teach you better in the future."
Arielle nodded her head and watched Lord Edmund leave. Lucas helped Arielle to tidy up the table where she studied. His heart warmed seeing some of the princess’ writing. It seemed she had worked hard. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Tania was right. The princess had great potential. It was just that in the South, she didn’t have the opportunity to explore it herself.
Lucas reached into his pocket and handed Arielle a different fold of paper.
"The reply from His Majesty the King," he said, making Arielle chuckle.
The girl opened the piece of paper and read it.
(I’m glad if my reward makes you feel more motivated to study. I won’t lose either. I’ll work even harder. I’ll see you at lunch.)
"Lucas, could you wait a moment?"
Lucas nodded in understanding. He came out of the library and stood in front of the door. After Lucas came out, Arielle opened her pen again and started writing a reply.
(I learned a lot today. It turned out to be a lot of fun because I got to know a lot more. Don’t you want to choose a dress for me?)
Not long after, Arielle came out while holding a new fold of paper. Lucas had a new task.
"Where will we meet the designer?" Arielle asked.
"Your designer is waiting in the living room with Tania. Lord William has summoned the best designer in Northendell. Miss Dressrosa was the designer of Priestess Unor’s and the late queen’s wedding dresses. The dresses that Miss Dressrosa made are exquisite and unique. Miss Dressrosa will only make one type of dress for one person. Because she always makes a dress that can match the soul of her client."
"Well... you know a lot about Miss Dressrosa, Lucas."
Lucas laughed shyly. "I read her interviews in the newspapers," he replied sheepishly.
Arielle had never heard of Miss Dressrosa. However, in Nieverdell, there was also one designer who was always called to the palace. The late queen, Rosalie, used the designer to design her, Andrea’s, and Annalise’s dresses.
Arielle had never met any designer before because she never got the chance to have a dress specially designed for her.
Arielle only bought her dresses from a shop on the far end of the market with limited money from Tania. Sometimes, she sold some of the jewelry her father gave her. That was if her father remembered he had one more child.
