Chapter 349: What Did You Learn Today?

Ronan had never been to this place. This was one of the places his mother spent most of her time, and Ronan never wanted to visit it.

When his mother died, Ronan also began to forget about the existence of this library until one day he thought Arielle would be more comfortable if she had a special room for study. So she didn’t have to go to the library at Blackthorn Palace.

Ronan ordered Lucas to revitalize that place, and now everything looked new. He nodded contentedly to see some shelves attached to the wall filled with books. At the corner of the room, there was a ladder to help Arielle take the books on the top shelf.

Ronan walked to the couch to take a closer look around the room. A subtle smile appeared on his lips when he saw the pen he gave was neatly placed on the side of the blank paper. There were also three stacks of books with different cover colors on the table. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"What did you learn today?" that man asked as he patted the couch beside him so that Arielle would sit with him.

Arielle took her notebook and flipped it to the first page.

"Today I learned about royal finances. Sir Edmund taught me the types of funds I will use in the future."

Arielle pointed to a simple chart showing the funding flow. "Then, I was also taught who was responsible for handling finances."

"Sir Edmund also asked me to discuss what activities I would do in the future. I told him the truth that I hadn’t thought about it that far. However, if I look at the financial report of the former queens, I will cut some events such as parties or tea parties."

"Um... I know that I have to build bonds with other nobles, but for now, I want to focus on knowing more about my powers. I want to follow what Queen Unor did. She spent ninety percent of her funds on cathedral activities," Arielle explained.

She added, "Maybe I’m not planning to do the same because I thought not only for the Cathedral but also for the orphanage, so there are no more abandoned orphanage cases like Sasha..."

Arielle continued to tell Ronan what she had learned. She also had an assignment from Lord Edmund to memorize financial terms and financial sources. Arielle flipped through the papers one by one, and Ronan could see the girl’s effort.

"Sir Edmund also said that the queen’s fund was independent. Even so, all the reports I write will be given to you. That’s why I want to help you by not making too many events so we could have a lesser amount of reports."

Ronan touched Arielle’s chin to make her look at him. "You don’t have to think about it. Use the funds however you like. If you want to buy a lot of dresses, just buy them. If you want to buy more jewelry, buy them too. You don’t have to hold yourself just because you don’t want to trouble me."

Arielle didn’t even think about those two things at all. "That’s not what I mean. I just wanted to make a simple report so you can skim it easily, then you’d have more time to rest."

Ronan just smiled then. He let Arielle tell him about her meeting with Miss Dressrosa. The man looked at Arielle in amazement until the door was knocked from outside.

After giving permission, Lucas came in with a food trolley. He put the food on the table and Arielle helped him by moving her papers and books to another place.

Seeing that, Ronan decided to add a workbench for the girl. Maybe a smaller one like the one he had in his office.

Before leaving the library, Lucas turned to face Ronan. "Your Majesty, Lord William said that the two guests you have been waiting for have arrived."

Ronan nodded in understanding. "I am going to have lunch with Arielle first. I will meet them after lunch."

Lucas nodded in understanding, then bowed respectfully. "Very well, Your Majesty. Enjoy your lunch. Please, excuse me."

Arielle sat in her chair, waiting for Ronan to join her.

"Who are the guests who came to visit?" Arielle asked as she grabbed the fork.

"Viscount Ferdi and his wife."

"Eh, has Lazarus already done with the investigation?"

"Yes since this morning, the woman named Cathy admitted that Sasha and Crimson were her and Viscount Ferdi’s children. It’s too long to explain. If you want to know, you can join me."

"And you will give Sasha and Crimson to them?" Arielle asked.

Ron nodded. "I told William to call them to the palace. Arielle, we don’t have much time to prolong this matter. Sasha and Crimson need to know who their parents are, especially Crimson, she needs her mother."

Arielle put her fork back. As Ronan watched her, Arielle hurriedly ate again. She didn’t know what kind of emotion she was feeling right now. She should be happy after hearing the news. That meant Sasha and Crimson would be back with their families. However, the thought of it made her heart throb uncomfortably.

Ronan put down his fork and touched Arielle’s chin.

"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly.

Arielle nodded, feeling that there was nothing to worry about. After their brief conversation, Ronan could feel Arielle’s change in attitude. The girl’s fiery spirit instantly faded.

Even when Ronan offered her to look at their rabbits’ new cages, Arielle refused, saying that she didn’t want to make Viscount Ferdi wait any longer.

Ronan knew Arielle was worried about Sasha and Crimson. However, he couldn’t force Sasha or Crimson to stay in the palace when they had known who their parents were.

When they arrived at the meeting room of the Blackthorn Palace, Arielle saw Viscount Ferdi and the woman named Cathy was bowing deep in front of Lazarus.

Arielle knew that there was no way Crimson was Lazarus’ child because the woman named Cathy had blonde hair, and so did Lazarus.

When the two of them saw the king and Arielle, they both knelt. At first, Viscount Ferdi was completely clueless. He was also very surprised that the king summoned them to the palace.

He had asked Cathy, and there was nothing the woman could hide anymore. With the direct king’s order, she could no longer lie and hide Viscount Ferdi’s children.

Ronan sat in the farthest chair, and William pulled the chair beside Ronan for Arielle. The man then asked Viscount Ferdi and Cathy to sit down. Meanwhile, Lazarus was standing beside Ronan with his hands resting on the back of the king’s chair casually, knowing well the king will have his back.
