Chapter 355: Rose Gold Brooch

After Sasha’s farewell party ended, all the gifts he had received were carried to his room, leaving a hall filled with several adults partying happily. Arielle rushed to tell Sasha to return to his room when William and Lazarus brought more beer into the hall.

Ronan had also returned to his room, leaving Kael, the only person he could trust, to keep an eye on William and Lazarus so as not to make a mess.

Arielle, Tania, and Lucas kept Sasha company to open his gifts. The boy couldn’t stop exclaiming happily when he got a new toy. Arielle was curious. Where did the knights get the toys in such a short time?

However, whenever Sasha got a book as a gift, he didn’t say much. He just put it aside, then opened the next gift.

"I heard Lazarus gave you his armor. You look very handsome in that outfit," Tania said while putting that child’s clothes into a wooden luggage.

"Right, that’s really cool," Sasha said as he tried out his new block toy.

"You don’t sound that happy," Arielle replied, making Sasha laugh.

"Honestly, I didn’t expect much from Lazarus. The fact that Lazarus isn’t Crimson’s father is enough for me. It was a great relief. I couldn’t imagine if that man becoming a father. I think I’m going to age quickly," Sasha said in an exhausted tone.

Tania and Lucas burst out laughing, but not Arielle because she didn’t know anything. When she went out of the palace with the king, Tania, Lucas, and Sasha had witnessed how bad Lazarus was in handling Crimson.

Actually, Kael, William, and Ronan were not much different. They gave the same reaction as Lazarus. However, Lazarus was a little more exaggerating.

The man was on the verge of tears when Sasha forced him to change Crimson clothes, and Sasha purposely always called Lazarus to take care of the baby.

At least, if it was proven that Lazarus was Crimson’s father, the man should learn to take responsibility for his child without the help of the princess. That was what Sasha thought.

"What about the gifts from Lord William and Lord Kael? Which of the three gifts did you like the most?" Lucas asked, helping Sasha to put all his toys in another luggage.

"Hm..." Sasha thought for a moment. "Out of the three, I liked the gift from Lord Kael. I’ve been training with a wooden sword, but this time I’m holding a real sword that fits me. Besides, this sword is proof that I have become an apprentice knight appointed by His Majesty the King."

Arielle smiled, seeing Sasha looked happy when he told about the king who appointed him as an apprentice knight.

"But, Your Highness, do you know what apprentice knights means? I’ve never heard of this term before," Sasha asked in confusion. He didn’t understand what his future duties as an apprentice knight would be.

"Um... His Majesty the King said that after you graduate from the academy, you will immediately train to become a full pledged knight. But that’s if you still want it. Your name is already registered as a knight, but you have to study hard to pass the final stages," Arielle explained.

She added, "That’s why I hope you study diligently and prove to your other friends that an apprentice knight’s status is not something anyone can get easily."

Sasha nodded in understanding. "I know I’m not good at studying. I quickly get bored when reading a book, but for the sake of His Majesty’s trust in me, on behalf of the knight, I promise to become the best graduate in the future."

Arielle patted the boy’s head lightly. "As long as you don’t stop trying, you will surely find a way to achieve your dream."

Sasha helped Tania and Lucas tidy all the gifts he got into his luggage. Since the gifts he received were quite a lot, Arielle said she would send them to Viscount Ferdi’s residence.

The moon had risen high in the night sky, and it was time for Sasha and Arielle to rest because she also had another schedule for tomorrow.

Arielle touched something from her pocket. She did not have time to prepare anything for Sasha. Her gift wasn’t that special or maybe it was the most weird thing Sasha will received, but Arielle had no other choice.

"Sasha," Arielle called, asking that kid to come closer.

Arielle took out a jewelry box. She opened it and there was a rose gold brooch inside the box. Arielle found the brooch from a row of jewelry that Ronan had bought for her. She thought the brooch was more suitable for Sasha because she couldn’t give Sasha a necklace, earring, or bracelet as a gift. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"I don’t have anything, this is all I can give," Arielle said while attaching the gold brooch to the vest that Sasha was wearing.

Sasha touched the brooch gently.

"This brooch is so pretty," replied Sasha, who couldn’t stop admiring the little thing attached to his chest.

"I’m glad you like it."

"Princess, I promise to take care of the brooch as best I can. This is a sign that I still hold on to my goal of becoming the greatest knight to protect you in the future."

"Thank you, Sasha. Get some rest. It’s getting late."

Arielle pulled the blanket to Sasha’s chest, making sure Sasha was warm. Lucas put in more firewood, so the fire in the fireplace wouldn’t go out at night. Tania also checked Sasha’s luggage one last time to make sure nothing was left behind.

"Good night, Sasha," Arielle said, then she left the boy’s room.

Sasha covered his face with a blanket so the princess wouldn’t see his crying face.

"Good night, Your Highness," the boy replied in a hoarse voice.

Although Sasha was very happy to get a lot of new toys, there was still a heavy feeling when he remembered he was leaving the palace tomorrow. The palace was a warm home for him. It had a lot of happy memories that he held dear, and Sasha got many friends here.

If that night, the princess didn’t come and help him, maybe Sasha would freeze to death on the side of the road after escaping from the orphanage.

Or maybe he would become a thief. In the worst case, someone would take him back to the orphanage, and he would get a harsh punishment for running away.
