Chapter 362: He Woke Up

Arielle stared at the fire in the fireplace. She could harm many people just because she didn’t want Ronan to be locked up. If he had agreed, then Arielle couldn’t argue anymore. She sighed tiredly. She massaged her temples, still feeling heavy for letting Ronan stay in a cage.

"Oh by the way, I forgot to ask. What are you three doing here?" Arielle asked, trying to change the gloomy atmosphere.

"I thought you still didn’t know Ronan’s current condition. That’s why I took Kael and Lazarus to comfort Ronan, but when we came to visit, he fell asleep," William replied.

Seriously... Arielle had always been amazed by their friendship. There was a hint of envy because she didn’t have close friends. She only had Tania. Back in the South, some maids also became her friends. However, because they were busy, they didn’t have much free time to play with Arielle.

"It used to be like this, too. When he had a continuous fever after the incident that happened to his family, the three of us accompanied him like this. Every night, Lazarus, Kael, and I kept watch over him to make sure Ronan’s fever didn’t rise too high. Whenever Ronan had a high fever, we immediately called Priest Louise to lower the man’s body temperature again," William said.

"Waaah... wasn’t that a long time ago? How come he hadn’t been sick for years when I always catch a cold if I stayed in Northendell too long?" Lazarus asked in amazement.

Because of Lazarus’ voice, Ronan’s sleep was disturbed a little. He could vaguely hear the nostalgic chatter of William and Lazarus about him. Ronan frowned when he heard Arielle’s laughter.

Still with his eyes closed, Ronan trailed his hand on the bed, searching for Arielle’s whereabouts.

"Arielle?" he called in a hoarse voice.

Hearing the call, the four of them immediately stopped talking and turned to the side. Ronan woke up with messy hair. He blinked, then his eyes fixed on Lazarus’s hand on Arielle’s shoulder. His gaze sharpened as he growled angrily.

Lazarus swallowed his saliva with difficulty. "Is the full moon coming tonight?" he asked, muttering.

Kael, who realized what made Ronan angry, pulled Lazarus’ hand from Arielle’s shoulder, making Ronan’s expression relaxed a little.

"What are you doing here?" Ronan asked sharply. "Not you, Arielle," he continued in a softer tone.

Arielle and William stood up to approach Ronan. She put her palm on Ronan’s forehead, checking the man’s temperature, then she jolted.

"William, should we call a priest again? His body temperature is very high," Arielle asked, panicked because Ronan was burning.

William did the same, and he was startled to find Ronan’s body was burning. He ordered Lazarus to call Priest Elis.

"You are really exaggerating," Ronan said, then brushed William’s hand away from his forehead.

"Exaggerating? Ronan, a normal human, would have fainted if his body was this hot!" William exclaimed.

Arielle pushed Ronan’s body back to lie down on the bed. "I’ll get water and cloth." When the girl was about to leave, Ronan immediately grabbed Arielle’s hand.

"Don’t go anywhere, just stay here," he pleaded.

Kael took the initiative to take the water and cloth as Arielle wanted. Without saying anything, Kael left Ronan’s room to find Lucas to ask the man the things Arielle needed.

Lazarus arrived with Priest Elis breathlessly because they had run fast. Arielle gave a room for Priest Elis to lower the king’s body temperature. After forming a trigram and touching the king’s arm, Ronan’s body temperature was getting normal again, making Arielle and William sigh in relief.

"Priest Elis, is this high temperature normal?" Arielle asked anxiously.

Priest Elis did not dare to answer. "I am not a doctor, Your Highness. However, the doctor in charge has informed me that the blood sample taken shows everything is normal. This is just a normal fever," Priest Elis replied.

"But it’s been three days. Why is it still this high?" William chimed in.

"Normally, a fever caused by the flu will last for seven days. Let’s wait for seven days."

"But tomorrow..."

"Priest Elis, that’s enough," Ronan cut Priest Elis’ words.

For him, William and Arielle were worried too much. He knew he was sick, and his body felt weak. However, he wasn’t that frail to make them worried this much. If Arielle allowed him, Ronan would work again. The fever didn’t bother him at all.

Arielle just kept quiet. She didn’t ask again. When Ronan’s temperature returned to normal, William allowed Priest Elis to leave the room. Lazarus, who was standing at the end of the bed, looked at Ronan with pity.

"Lazarus, I hate getting that look of pity from you," said Ronan, making Lazarus jolt in surprise.

"I was concerned about you!"

"And that’s annoying," he replied.

Lazarus huffed in annoyance. Then, he chose to sit on the couch. Kael came back with Lucas, carrying a basin of water and a piece of cloth.

"What is that for?" William asked Kael.

"I heard the Princess needed these things, so I called Lucas to prepare it."

William turned to Arielle, who was standing beside him.

"Priest Elis has lowered Ronan’s temperature, but his temperature will rise again slowly. I want to keep Ronan’s temperature low using those," Arielle replied.

William nodded and gave Arielle space to take care of Ronan, who was lying on the bed.

Arielle dipped the cloth into the basin. After she squeezed it, she put the damp cloth on the man’s forehead.

"I’m not used to just lying around doing nothing like this," Ronan said weakly.

William shook his head. "Then, do you want me to bring you a book?" he bargained.

"Please do not," Arielle cut him off. "If you feel bored just lying down, then close your eyes and sleep," she continued, making Ronan smile.

Arielle turned to William. "Maybe I’ll need your help to look after him for a while."

"Where are you going?" Ronan asked as he removed the cloth on his forehead and sat while leaning his back on the headboard. Arielle turned around and pushed the man back down, and she placed the damp cloth on Ronan’s forehead again.

"I’m just going for a bit. Didn’t you make an appointment with Miss Aimee today?"

Hearing his sister’s name being called, Kael looked up. So did Lazarus, who was reclining on the couch. Then, he turned to Kael.

"Aimee? Is the princess talking about your sister?" he asked.

Kael nodded.
