Chapter 366: Aimee’s First Impression of Arielle

Aimee lowered her gaze, and she smiled dejectedly. "I will tell you the truth, Your Highness. After I graduated from the academy last year, I didn’t have any goals. No matter how much I studied and had a lot of knowledge, my father would never let me work. My dream was to become a teacher, but my father turned it down. And a few months ago, my father planned to marry me off to a son of a Duke.

"At that moment, my hope to build a school and become a teacher had shattered. I also tried to run away to prove to my parents that I could live without a title. Then, Kael helped me to negotiate with my parents. I would come back home on the condition that they would not marry me off again.

"For me, if I can’t do the job I want, then at least I want to marry the man I love. However, until now I hadn’t found that particular man. All the men I met were completely unreliable. They always showed their disinterest when I expressed my desire to work after marriage.

"Then, the talk about marriage came back. I refused, but this time, my father didn’t want to back down. He gave me a condition ... If I can find a job, it’s okay for me not to get married. However, if I don’t find a job before my birthday, then I have to marry the man my parents chose.

"So I came here to accept the job that His Majesty the King offered... to avoid the marriage that my father had set."

Arielle nodded in understanding. Aimee seemed to be someone with a free spirit. She didn’t want to be tied down by other people. She lived by her own rules.

"I’m sorry, Your Highness, but I’m not a free-spirited person," Aimee continued with a small laugh. Arielle blinked in surprise because Aimee could understand what she had just thought.

"No-no... I can’t read people’s minds. It’s just ... your expression is very easy to read," she continued, looking at the princess who looked so innocent.

"Ah, I’m sorry," Arielle replied while covering her blushing face, making Aimee chuckle.

"You don’t need to apologize, Your Highness."

"Er... then... What about your desire to become a teacher? Are you okay with being my personal assistant?"

Aimee nodded confidently. "Whatever it is, I will do it as long as I can avoid the marriage that my father had set."

"Miss Aimee, I am very grateful for your answer. However, before that, I want to say that I am not someone who has much knowledge. I... am still learning from the very basics right now, so maybe in the future I might trouble you a lot."

Aimee smiled. "I’ve heard a lot about you from Kael. You don’t have to worry. Isn’t it my job to help you?" she asked, making Arielle smile in relief.

"Thank you very much, Miss Aimee." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Arielle reached for the porcelain teapot in front of her to pour tea for Aimee.

"Let me do it, Your Highness," Aimee said. She approached Arielle so that the princess would not have to bother pouring her the tea.

"No need, Miss Aimee. At least this way I can get closer to my new friend," Arielle said, making Aimee silent in her place.

"Friend?" the girl asked in confusion.

Arielle chuckled, seeing Aimee’s confused face. She poured tea and gave it to Aimee.

"We will be together in the future. So, I prefer to think of the people around me as my friends. Because having friends is fun," Arielle replied, making Aimee’s heart beat faster.

Aimee was quite skeptical when Kael said that almost no one could hate the princess. She had thought that Arielle was just a spoiled royal princess who could only trouble her in the future.

However, when she first saw the princess’ smile, Aimee immediately knew that she was different. There was a level of sincerity that ordinary people didn’t have, and Aimee was immediately convinced that she liked the princess.

The girl had a high enthusiasm for learning new things, and Aimee liked people who liked to learn.

Aimee really didn’t think she would like someone so quickly. She had wondered how long it would take to get used to the princess. The girl took a sip of her tea with a smile, feeling touched because on the first day they met, the princess had considered her as a friend.

After talking about her goals, Aimee talked about a lot of things with Arielle so they could get to know each other. She could see that the princess was a passive person, so she listened to Kael’s suggestion to always take the initiative.

And as time went on, Arielle had to return to meet Ronan. It was time for the man to have lunch and see the doctor again.

Arielle escorted Miss Aimee to the front of the Whitethorn Palace.

"Miss Aimee, thank you very much for your answer. I will tell this good news to His Majesty the King."

"With pleasure, Your Highness. Then, I bid my goodbye."

Aimee gave a curtsy to Arielle, then she left while wearing the hood of her coat because the snow had fallen again. Arielle looked up at the sky. It was dark, although it was still noon. It seemed, in the next few days there would be an extreme blizzard, she thought.

After she saw Aimee get in the carriage, Arielle turned towards the Blackthorn Palace. She was surprised to see Lazarus, who suddenly appeared in front of her with breathless gasps.

"Lazarus?"

"Where is Aimee?" he asked hastily.

"She just got home. Where are you from? Didn’t you want to meet her in the waiting room?"

Lazarus groaned in annoyance.

"I was dragged by Kael, so I couldn’t meet Aimee!" The answer made Arielle silent.

Arielle had also heard from Aimee that she didn’t want to meet Lazarus so Arielle was a little relieved that Aimee had returned before Lazarus arrived.

Well... she couldn’t do anything for that matter....
