Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 397: Lazarus’s Regret
Ronan and WIlliam had gone to the western border since yesterday. Arielle did her day as usual. Sometimes, she invited Kael to have tea together so she could get closer to him and Aimee.
On the second day without Ronan, Arielle invited Sasha. She got the first letter from Sasha saying that he had learned to write neatly. Both of them spend time from morning to evening studying together.
Lazarus almost had a heart attack seeing Sasha, who appeared again in the palace.
"Again? What are you doing here?" Lazarus asked Sasha, who was about to return to his residence.
Sasha just glanced at the man without saying anything, then looked away, making Lazarus hold his own nape to stop himself from getting angry.
"What is this? Do you want to have a fight with me?" Lazarus said in a high tone.
"So childish," said Sasha. It made Lazarus lose his control.
The man tied his long hair with rubber bands that he always had on his wrists, then punched the wind a few times to warm up.
"Come here, fight with me."
When Lazarus wanted to grab the collar of Sasha’s coat, Aimee appeared while calling out to Sasha. Lazarus instantly turned around and pretended to lean on the pillar while looking at the grey sky.
"Sa... Sha?" called Aimee, who lowered her voice when she saw the back of a man she knew well.
"Yes, Miss Aimee?"
"You forgot your book. Good thing Princess Arielle saw it while tidying up your toys, so you can study again when you get home."
"Ah!" Sasha immediately reached into his bag and, sure enough, his notebook wasn’t there. He accepted the book from Aimee and thanked her. "Thank you, Miss Aimee!"
Aimee stroked Sasha’s head gently. "Be careful on your journey. I look forward to your visit again."
"Of course! And don’t forget to tell me about the way you beat someone almost to death ten years ago," Sasha said in a loud voice.
Honestly, Aimee didn’t want to laugh. However, Sasha was so adorable that she couldn’t hold back her laughter, even though she bit her lips hard.
"Hahaha, of course! With pleasure."
Sasha waved his hand and said goodbye to Aimee. Aimee did the same as the boy got into the carriage, then left Whitethorn Palace’s yard.
Lazarus, who had been holding back his annoyance, turned around as Aimee walked past him without saying a word.
"Aimee," called Lazarus.
Aimee took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. Two days ago, the two had agreed to pretend they didn’t know each other, but it seemed that Lazarus couldn’t do it. Whenever they passed, Lazarus automatically called out her name.
Yesterday, Aimee had been trying desperately to deafen her ears. However, to this day, Lazarus still called out her name, although it wasn’t with a shout like when he found out her identity. Still, it was very annoying for Aimee...
"Don’t you have a job?" Aimee asked.
Lazarus was still where he was, not sure if he could come closer.
"Don’t come closer," Aimee cut in as the man almost took a step closer.
"Um... I was doing my job. I mean, while I am in the Palace I helped Kael with the patrol."
Aimee felt they didn’t need to have small talk, so she took another step backward to leave Lazarus. Lazarus, who panicked, ran after her, then grabbed Aimee’s hand, asking the girl to stop. However, Aimee quickly released herself.
"Aimee, I’m sorry!" Lazarus said while bowing his body in front of Aimee.
"Sorry for what?"
"Sorry for being so childish and yelling at you yesterday."
Aimee observed Lazarus silently. "Only that?"
Lazarus shook his head. "I also apologize for calling you fat since you were a child and teasing you until you felt offended."
"Then?"
"Then, I apologize that I haven’t had the chance to apologize in ten years."
"Then?"
"Eh? Then?" Lazarus raised his head in confusion. Seeing Aimee’s sharp gaze, Lazarus lowered his head again in a deep thought.
"Sorry... because... I touched your hand without permission?" he replied with uncertainty.
"Then?"
"Um... sorry... because..." Lazarus racked his brain out, trying to remember what else he had done to Aimee in the past. However, he couldn’t find it.
"Sorry for everything," replied Lazarus.
Aimee shook her head then walked away, leaving Lazarus, who was still looking down on the floor. The man chased Aimee again and stopped her by pushing her gently against the wall. Aimee widened her eyes in surprise.
"What are you-"
"Listen Aimee, I am very serious when I said that I wanted to make up with you. Thus, if I did something wrong, tell me. I will correct my past mistakes. I’m serious."
"Why do you suddenly want to apologize now?" Aimee asked suspiciously.
"Because I just got the opportunity. We had a fight yesterday, didn’t we? I was too shocked to grasp that you are Aimee."
"Oh really? Then, what about your mistake ten years ago? Why didn’t you apologize earlier?"
"Hmph! I started sailing ten years ago, and you’re already in the academy, right? We haven’t seen each other since that time. Besides, I only come home once a year for Ronan’s birthday. If Ronan hadn’t married, maybe I’d have been back sailing since last month, and I wouldn’t have had the chance to see you again."
Aimee looked into Lazarus’s sparkling eyes.
"Hmm? How? Did you forgive me?" the man asked, looking hopeful.
Aimee pushed Lazarus’ face away. "You’re too close."
"I won’t forgive you until you remember all your deeds from the past!" Aimee said, making Lazarus let out a long sigh.
He looked at Aimee’s back that was drifting away. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Lazarus didn’t know what he had done to little Aimee other than bullied her by calling her fat. He swore he had never physically abused her. He only teased Aimee verbally.
Lazarus couldn’t meet Kael if this continued. Aimee might have told Kael about yesterday’s incident, so he couldn’t possibly ask Aimee about his past mistakes.
While Lazarus was deep in thought, someone’s name popped into his head.
"Princess Arielle!"
