Chapter 414: [Bonus Chapter]Another Chance To Apologize

"That one was funny," Lazarus commented, trying to stop his laughter.

"By the way Lazarus, I want to have a serious talk," said Aimee making Lazarus stopped his laughter

Lazarus took a deep breath, then exhaled it slowly. He returned to his seat and nodded.

"Then... let me speak first," Lazarus said seriously.

Aimee also gave the opportunity for Lazarus to speak first.

"For the umpteenth time, I really want to apologize to you. About what I did in the past until what I did when I met you again. I am an adult, who was much older than you, but I behaved like a child. If given the opportunity to turn back time, I really wanted to apologize before you enter the academy."

Aimee listened carefully. "I don’t have a younger sister. I only have younger brothers. Whenever I teased them, they would hit me for real. That’s why when I met you, I often teased you because I knew you wouldn’t hit me like my younger brothers."

Aimee laughed cynically. Did that mean Lazarus only treated her like a toy?

"I care about you. When I said I thought of you like a little sister to me in the past, I said it sincerely. I always wanted to have a younger sister, but even after my father remarried, my stepmother only gave birth to another younger brother."

"Why do you want a little sister so much?"

Lazarus shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t know either. Back then, he was not mature at all. He only thought about what he wanted. Or maybe because between Ronan, William, and Kael, he was the only one who didn’t have a younger sister?

Ronan had the late Princess Irene, Kael had Aimee, and before William’s family left Northendell, William had many younger sisters. Whereas only Lazarus had no younger sister among them. Maybe it was like that... but Lazarus wasn’t quite sure.

"I had teased you outrageously in the past, and I regret it now. If I knew you would hate me, I would never have done it. I don’t have a younger sister, so I don’t know how to get closer to you. I only know how to wrestle with my little brother. That was how siblings work in my house."

The consequences and regrets always came at the end. That was how Lazarus felt when Aimee beat him that day. He couldn’t respond and only accepted every punch of the eight-year-old child with resignation. However, when he wanted to apologize, it turned out that Aimee had left for the academy.

"Aimee, will you forgive me? I promise I won’t bother you anymore after this. After the coronation of the queen, I will return to sailing, and I want to return to sailing without any regrets."

Aimee clenched her skirt tightly.

"I will forgive you, Lazarus. But, after you remember one last mistake you haven’t mentioned."

"I’ve been trying to remember it, but I can’t, Aimee."

Aimee stood up when the cake shop owner called her to finish the payment because the pancakes had been made. She turned briefly toward Lazarus.

"Because of what you did back then, I became the laughingstock of many of my peers. I had to shut myself off from the public and turn down every party invitation. I became a lone wolf. That’s why I decided to enter the academy. To get rid of the people who make me uncomfortable and learn to move on from the past."

Lazarus had just heard that. He did not expect the consequences of his actions were really that bad. He grabbed Aimee’s hand quickly before the girl crossed the road and left him.

"Aimee! If I remember it and apologize again, will you really forgive me?"

Aimee smiled as she let go of Lazarus’ hand that was tightly gripping hers.

"It depends on what you’re going to do in the future. If after you apologize, you made a mistake again, maybe I’ll get even more angry than before," Aimee replied curtly.

Elsewhere, William had arrived at the accessories shop. He bought some hair ties for the girls and a bow tie for the boys. Every child would get one. William had never done this before. It seemed that in the history of the Northern nobles, no one had ever given a small gift for the citizens.

After getting what he needed, William stood for a while outside the shop, looking for something to eat. He had not had breakfast because he was in a hurry to invite the princess to follow Ronan to the chapel. Then, his eyes caught a small restaurant.

The shop was very small, only fit five to ten people. Luckily, that morning the restaurant was still empty, so William could easily choose a seat. He chose to sit at the bar table beside a young girl who was waiting for her food.

"Good morning," William greeted her.

The young girl looked at him for a moment, then returned William’s greeting with a smile. "Good morning, Sir."

William glanced at the basket near the young girl, then he asked, "Are you the owner’s daughter?"

"Nope, I’m just a florist having breakfast," she replied kindly. The young girl opened the cloth covering her basket and revealed red roses that was so fresh.

William rarely saw flowers at Northendell. Perhaps the young girl’s parents were priests who could control mana and had a flower garden, like Priest Louise, who had his own flower garden.

"Oh... do you sell it?"

The young girl nodded. She accepted a bowl of soup and a loaf of bread brought by the restaurant owner. William ordered the same. He watched the young girl with interest.

She reminded him of Sasha who couldn’t eat leisurely. The young girl was probably three or four years older than Sasha, almost reaching the teenage years.

"Do you live here?" William asked, planning to visit her parents’ flower garden to have a look.

The girl shook her head.

"I’m from Mount Birwick," she replied simply.

William nodded. Of course, she wasn’t referring to the real Mount Birwick because it was so cold and dark that no human could live there. However, on the slopes of the foothills of Mount Birwick, before entering the forest, there was a village. And people used to call it Mount Birwick village.

"Who are you here with?"

"My father."

"Oh... where is your father now?"

"He’s looking for a priest."

William nodded again. Maybe for his garden needs.

The shop owner came back with his breakfast. William ate it heartily, and their brief conversation had to stop for a while.

After finishing his meal, William paid for his meal and also the young girl’s meal. The young girl wanted to thank him, so she gave William a red rose in return. William accepted the flower with pleasure.

William frowned for a moment. Since earlier, he could not see the girl’s face, and when the sun rays illuminated her face, William looked at the child in amazement. Her jet black hair reminded him of someone, as well as her piercing gaze that looked ambitious, elegant, and beautiful at the same time.

"Sir, thank you very much. I will remember your kindness."

William just nodded and got on his horse.

"With pleasure."
