Chapter 425: Kiss And Punch

Lazarus took a slow sip of his drink. He stared at his drink keenly. He had a hard time following Aimee and Dylan’s conversation. There was nothing he could do but play with the drinks and listen to their stories.

Lazarus was quite sensitive when both Dylan and Aimee try to avoid some sensitive topics from him, such as Aimee’s real reason for going to the academy and Aimee’s childhood because Lazarus knows for sure they didn’t want Lazarus to know about the grave mistake he had made in the past.

Lazarus had never been hurt this deep before. He wanted to join in the conversation, but he realized that it would only irritate Aimee more. Even though they went to the same academy and studied from the same teacher, Lazarus couldn’t be on the same frequency as Dylan and Aimee.

He knew several teachers mentioned by them, but he chose to remain silent. Even though Aimee knew that Lazarus had attended the same academy, the girl didn’t try to ask Lazarus at all. Aimee didn’t even glance at him.

"I don’t know. I’m starting to like my current job. But if given the chance, I still want to be a teacher," said Aimee, making Lazarus frown.

"You don’t want to try it, Aimee? You are a smart girl, and you definitely deserve to be a teacher."

Aimee chuckled, embarrassed at Dylan’s compliment.

"Maybe later. After I have my own money without asking my family for money, I will build my own school," Aimee replied.

"You want to be a teacher?" Lazarus suddenly asked, interrupting Aimee and Dylan’s conversation. The two fell silent for a moment and turned to Lazarus, who finally opened his mouth to speak after hours of silence.

"Yes," replied Aimee curtly.

"I have an unused building. If you want, I can give it to you, so you can make it into a school," Lazarus said, making Aimee frown.

"Thank you, but I still want to work with Princess Arielle right now," Aimee declined gently.

"Oh, I see..."

Lazarus closed his mouth again for the rest of the conversation.

"Oh, Aimee. It’s night already! I forgot about the time. Do you want me to take you back to the palace?" Dylan offered.

Aimee refused because she didn’t want to trouble her old friend more. Dylan had already treated Lazarus and Aimee with a lot of food and drink. Besides, Lazarus was with her, so she didn’t have to worry about going back to the palace alone.

Lazarus asked for Dylan’s address again, but Dylan refused politely. He had absolutely no problem paying for Lazarus’ food, but Lazarus kept insisting on paying him back. Aimee then intervened, but Dylan refused Aimee, who wanted to pay for Lazarus’ food.

"I do it sincerely. Think of it as a thank you because you have made me realize that not everyone can accept us as we are," Dylan said before boarding his carriage.

"With pleasure, Dylan. If you need someone to talk to, send me a letter so we can make an appointment to meet again," Aimee replied, making Lazarus grip the reins of his horse tightly. He really was jealous of the man named Dyan.

Aimee waved her hand after Dylan’s carriage left. After confirming the carriage carrying Dylan had gone, Aimee walked towards Lazarus.

"Shall we go back now?" Lazarus asked.

Aimee just nodded her head.

So cold, thought Lazarus.

Aimee got on Lazarus’ horse first and Lazarus followed, sitting behind the girl. This was the second time Aimee had sat on one horse with Lazarus. It was nothing for her. She just felt uncomfortable being this close to Lazarus.

The two rode in silence. Not a single word came out of Aimee’s or Lazarus’ mouths. Lazarus was busy arranging sentences to apologize to Aimee. After all, he had already remembered what he did ten years ago to Aimee. The reason the girl hated him so much.

From Aimee’s coldness, it seemed like it would be difficult for Lazarus to get a forgiveness. He was very pessimistic, but as one of Northendell’s admiral knights, he had gone through many unpredictable conditions in the sea because the waves kept moving erratically. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

So Lazarus had to take the opportunity to apologize properly.

After they arrived at Whitethorn Palace, Lazarus helped Aimee down. The man planned to return his horse to the stable first, but Aimee suddenly left, making Lazarus panic.

"Aimee!" Lazarus called before Aimee entered the palace.

"What is it?" asked the girl with a flat expression on her face.

"Could we talk for a minute?"

"Could we do it tomorrow? It’s getting late, and I have to check on Princess Arielle."

"Just a moment! I promise it won’t be long!" Lazarus begged for a chance to speak.

Aimee thought for a moment, then let out a long sigh. "Okay, but if it’s not important, I’ll just leave."

"Of course! Thank you for the opportunity."

Aimee turned to approach Lazarus, and the two of them were standing under the falling snow.

"What is it?" Aimee asked hastily.

"I already remember what I did to you ten years ago."

Aimee turned around and Lazarus quickly grabbed the girl’s arm, so she wouldn’t run away. This was an important conversation, so Aimee couldn’t leave until the girl heard his genuine apology.

"Aimee, I will not try to justify my actions ten years ago. However, back then you were very young, and you shouldn’t have feelings for a grown man like me. But, I was also wrong for rejecting you meanly in front of your friends. Even after remembering it, I found it difficult to look at you because of the overwhelming guilt."

Lazarus slowly lowered his hand and gently gripped Aimee’s fingers. He took a few steps back, then bowed his head deeply.

"Aimee, I am truly sorry for what I have done to you."

"Now, you know why I hate you so much, right?" Aimee asked in a cold tone.

"Sorry." That was all Lazarus could come up with.

"Because I used to like you. I got the attention I didn’t get from my other brothers, but you just brought me down. My heart hurt so bad."

"Aimee, can I fix all my mistakes?"

"How?" Aimee asked sharply.

Lazarus straightened his body and looked at Aimee gently. "Any way you want. If you want to hit me one more time right now, I’ll take it. If you don’t want to see me again right now, I will go. Whatever it is, Aimee... I’ll do it for you."

"Lazarus... you..." Aimee clenched her fists and felt angry at Lazarus’ words just now. Lazarus really was so insensitive!

Aimee grabbed up the collar of Lazarus’ coat and brought his face closer to her. She clenched her jaws in anger. "You should understand that I hold a grudge against you because I still like you, idiot!"

"Eh?"

Aimee pulled Lazarus’ collar harder and pressed her lips to Lazarus’. The man stood frozen in place, feeling surprised by Aimee’s sudden reply. After their long kiss, Aimee pushed Lazarus away.

"A-Aimee..."

Aimee’s face was red with embarrassment. She didn’t do it on purpose. Now, she had revealed her own Pandora’s box. Her face felt hot and feverish.

Aimee took one step back to avoid Lazarus. Then, she immediately turned to run away, but Lazarus held her hand and Aimee spontaneously punched Lazarus in the face.

"Let go of me, you bastard!" Aimee shouted, making Lazarus fall on the snow. She ran away from the place while crying because she was ashamed and afraid.
