Chapter 439: Zoe

"My father is a shy person," said the child, making Arielle chuckle.

"You’re only with your father?" Arielle asked.

"Yes, my mother died a long time ago. Dad said mom fell ill after giving birth to me, so I just live alone with my dad. We planted roses to remember my mother."

"Oh, I’m sorry," said Arielle, who did not expect that the child’s mother had long died.

"Then, since when did you come here?"

"Actually we’ve been visiting the capital since last week because dad needed a priest. After getting one, we will go back to Birwick. However, we wanted to celebrate the royal wedding day, so dad invited me to come here. It turned out to be very crowded, but I liked it," The young girl answered, making Arielle’s heart warm too.

"Have you sold a lot of your flowers?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

The girl lowered her shoulders dejectedly. Arielle looked at her and thought the young girl was really adorable. "Only a few people. Look, my flowers are still full," said the young girl, making Arielle not have the heart to let her remain sad on this happy day.

"Then, I’ll buy all of them," replied Arielle, making the girl widen his eyes in surprise.

"Eh? Everything?" the young girl asked in surprise.

"Ah... I can’t?"

"Of course you can! I’m just surprised because so many people don’t like roses."

"I like it very much. It reminds me of where I lived before going to the North."

"Oh, you’re not from the North, Miss?"

Arielle covered her mouth feeling guilty for blurted it out. "Ah,.., I just moved recently," she replied in a low voice.

"Then, just wait a moment," she added so that the child would ask further about her origins.

Arielle stood up to approach Ronan who was waiting for their food to ask for money. At first, Ronan frowned as to why Arielle asked him for some gold coins. However, when he saw the girl helping another random little girl, Ronan couldn’t help but sigh.

Luckily, Ronan brought a lot of money that night so he didn’t have to worry if the rest of the night, he would spend his money to fulfill Arielle’s desire to help many small children. He already knew his future wife’s habit, and Ronan didn’t mind it at all. Instead he felt proud of her....

Arielle gave ten gold coins to the young girl which she refused.

"I’ll only take three."

"Eh, but..."

"Miss... I was grateful for your kindness, but father always taught me to take the money for what we have given. We shouldn’t be greedy, so we will not get karma in the future."

Arielle was silent in her place. The boy closed ARielle’s hand which was still holding the side of the seven gold coins. The boy put the basket filled with roses beside Arielle.

"What is your name?" asked Arielle, holding the young girl’s arm.

The young girl smiled. She stood up then bowed respectfully to Arielle, making Arielle widen her eyes. "Zoe, Your Highness."

"Eh?"

The girl named Zoe turned around, and Arielle chased after her.

"You... how do you know if I..."

Zoe turned around and gave a very pretty smile. Her jet black hair shone under the capital’s dazzling lights.

"I’m just guessing because I’ve seen your portrait in the newspaper. Also not many people have sky blue eyes as clear as yours," said Zoe, who then asked permission to leave the place.

Arielle was still too shocked that she didn’t realize Ronan was already beside her.

"Arielle?" Ronan called while holding their food. "Everything is fine?"

Arielle nodded, not wanting Ronan to worry. "The girl who sold the roses earlier was pretty, so I was a little taken aback."

Ronan chuckled and handed Arielle the pancakes. "Don’t be like that, there is no woman prettier than you," he said, making Arielle forget about Zoe a little.

Ronan looked at a basket full of roses that Arielle had carefully bought. He smelled a familiar scent, like the roses he had found on his mother’s grave when he visited the chapel two weeks ago. However, when he tried to find the whereabouts of the young girl who was selling the flowers, he only saw many people were selling various kinds of fresh flowers other than roses.

Arielle held his hand tightly and dragged him towards other people selling food. Until midnight, where the food stalls began to close one by one, both Arielle and Ronan no longer crossed paths with the flower seller’s child.

After inviting Arielle to eat as she pleased, Ronan then brought the girl back to the palace. However, he didn’t think that their arrival had been awaited by Aimee, Tania, William, and Lucas.

"What are you guys waiting for under the snow like this?" Ronan got off the horse, then faced William. "Did you finish the task I gave you earlier?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. I have put it on your table. You can check it out tomorrow morning," William said.

Then, Ronan helped Arielle get off the horse.

"Your Highness... Could it be that you ate too much tonight?" asked Tania, who saw Arielle holding her stomach, which felt very full.

Arielle laughed softly and glanced at Ronan, who was looking at her as well.

"What’s wrong with Arielle eating a lot? I noticed that tonight my fiancé was skinnier than usual. Don’t tell me you guys forbade Arielle to eat?" Ronan asked sharply.

Aimee came forward to face the king.

"Your Majesty... we absolutely do not forbid Princess Arielle from eating, but Princess Arielle has to go on a little diet to be able to wear her dress beautifully," Aimee replied.

Ronan frowned. He couldn’t relate to the reason Aimee gave. What did this have to do with dressing beautifully and eating to her heart’s content? He spent his money, so that they made a dress for Arielle, not made a dress for Arielle to fit the shape of the dress.
