Chapter 460: Arielle Making Her Own Decision

Ronan was resting with Arielle after their endless lovemaking. He hugged Arielle from behind tightly. However, the comfort did not last long because the day had changed, and in the early morning, someone knocked on the door again.

Arielle groaned softly because her sleep was disturbed. Ronan, who felt sorry seeing his wife’s tired face, stroked Arielle’s hair gently.

"Go back to sleep. Maybe the maid brought our breakfast," Ronan said, then got up first.

He grabbed his pants, which had fallen to the floor and fixed his tunic modestly. In front of the door, Ronan found William whose face was still swollen after his fight with Kael and Lazarus two days ago.

"Who else is fighting today?" Ronan asked, half annoyed because if William came to call him, something might have happened.

"N-no... this is something important."

"What is it?"

"Birwick village experienced an avalanche from the nearby Birwick hill, and almost half the village area was covered by dirt and snow."

"WHAT!?"

Ronan’s scream earlier woke up Arielle. She looked back, but she didn’t find her husband’s firm back. Because the door to their room was open, Arielle pulled the blanket she was using up to her neck, so people outside the room wouldn’t see her naked body.

Arielle couldn’t hear clearly what they were saying.

After talking to the person, Ronan closed the door to his room. He squeezed his hair, feeling annoyed because something unexpected had happened again when he wanted to enjoy his honeymoon with Arielle.

"Ronan, is everything okay?" asked Arielle, who was worried at seeing her husband’s annoyed expression.

Ronan took off his shirt and took a thicker black clothes. The man sat on the side of Arielle’s bed, then kissed his wife’s lips gently.

"With a great regret, my love, I want to apologize because it seems that our honeymoon day has come to an end. I have to go to Birwick to see something."

"Something happened there?"

"William said there had been an avalanche which left half the village covered with dirt and snow."

Arielle gasped at that. Avalanche? It was a terrible disaster. In Nieverdell, there was once an avalanche in an outskirt village. The news spread in the newspapers, saying hundreds of people were seriously injured. She hoped the people there could save themselves before it happened.

Her coronation day was only five days away, but she couldn’t have the heart to be happy when someone else was suffering.

"William and I will probably be going right now to check things out there. After making sure everything is alright, I’ll be right back before the coronation day."

Right now, Arielle wasn’t worried about her coronation day at all. Ronan kissed Arielle’s shoulder and rubbed his wife’s arm a few times.

"Are you okay? I will send a letter to Viscount Ferdi, asking Sasha to stay longer in the palace to accompany you during my absence. I’ll also invite Crimson, so you don’t get bored."

Arielle nodded in agreement. "You don’t have to worry. I’m fine. There’s still Aimee, Tania, Lucas, maybe Kael, and also Lazarus," he replied.

Ronan rested his forehead on Arielle’s shoulder with a long sigh.

"When I was enjoying my honeymoon, why did something like this happen? It’s hard to leave you alone. If it weren’t for the disaster, I’d be happy to take you with me, but it will take quite a while to get there."

Arielle stroked her husband’s hair to encourage him. "You have to help them, Ronan. I also want to visit there once things get back to normal."

Ronan stood up and kissed Arielle’s forehead.

"I will be back. I love you."

"I love you too," Arielle replied sincerely.

After Ronan left her alone, Arielle got up to get ready. She cleaned herself, then put on warm clothes. She woke up earlier than usual. After hearing the news that Ronan conveyed earlier, Arielle couldn’t sleep again.

She thought about the fate of the citizens of Birwick. She imagined the old people who had trouble running for their lives. Or maybe children who lost their parents. Arielle looked at the back of her hands that looked soft. She wanted to help, but how?

She saw a vase of roses on the table. What if the child’s rose garden was also damaged by the avalanche? Had Sue and her father returned to Birwick or not?

Arielle couldn’t sit still. If Ronan got mad at her, she didn’t care. She went out of his room and found Ronan, William, and a group of knights had left the palace.

Arielle came to Aimee’s room, who had just finished cleaning her body. She also summoned Lazarus, Kael, Lucas, Tania, and Priest Elis to gather.

"I need you to collect lots of warm clothes, blankets, crystal stones filled with heat mana, and various food supplies for hundreds of people," Arielle said without further ado, making them confused.

For Lazarus, Kael, and Priest Elis, who had heard the news about the avalanche disaster that had occurred at Birwick, they immediately agreed without asking anything.

Aimee raised her hand, asking permission to ask.

"Your Highness, but what is all that stuff for?" she asked in confusion.

"I’ll send it to Birwick village," Arielle replied.

The girl also explained to Aimee, Tania, and Lucas, who did not know anything about the incident earlier. Before leaving, Ronan gave an order to Kael to take care of Arielle wherever the girl went. There was no direct prohibition for Arielle to leave the palace.

So, when Arielle said she would go after Ronan, Tania and Aimee a little bit hesitant to let the princess fo, but Lazarus and Kael were willing to protect Arielle and they had no choice when Arielle already convinced herself to go.

"If you have useful items like clothes that you don’t use, you can put them here. Maybe it’s just secondhand things, but they really need our help right now. The slightest help we provide might change their lives," said Arielle, making everyone nod.

Tania and Aimee circled the palace to ask all the maids and servants whether they had blankets or warm clothes to donate. Kael and Lazarus gathered the supplies of the knights they never used.

Lucas visited the inventory room and took out all the blankets and warm clothes the palace’ people no longer used. He also asked Chef Michael to set aside some of the groceries in the warehouse to give to the Birwick people.

Priest Elis summoned the apprentice priests to help him replenish mana crystals so they could be distributed to the Birwick people. Sasha, who had just woken up, could only donate some of his toys that were left in the palace. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Is it okay for me to donate this? I can go back to my house to bring all my toys here," said the child, making Arielle smile.

"You did a great job, Sasha. This is quite enough. They will definitely be happy to receive a new toy."

Sasha blushed. "Princess, I promise to contribute more when I grow up," Sasha replied. He also wanted to be included in the busyness of the palace that morning.

Archie, who had just left his room, frowned when he saw his sister standing in the palace garden with several piles of empty chests. He rushed downstairs to approach his sister.

"Good morning, Sister. You look busy this morning," Archie said from behind, causing Arielle and Sasha who were holding hands to look back.

"Oh, I heard that one of the areas in Birwick was hit by an avalanche, so I gathered some things they will needed to take there."

"Gosh... but you just got married."

Arielle chuckled, then turned to her brother. "Whether I have married or not, when someone needs my help, I will help them, Brother. Besides, I will be crowned soon. I don’t want anyone in the North to be left behind."

Archie smiled faintly at his sister’s maturity. The man saw what Arielle needed. Since Nieverdell had experienced the same disaster in the past, Archie knew quite well what items people needed.

"And don’t forget the medicine. Maybe there will be a doctor, but they will have a hard time treating a lot of patients. You can also ask some doctors in the palace and send them there," said Archie, giving some useful advice.

Arielle snapped her fingers. "Oh, right! I almost forgot about it! I will find a doctor who is willing to come with me."

"Just let me do it!" Aimee exclaimed, after placing a pile of blankets into one of the open chests. Archie nodded and pulled Arielle’s hand to help tidy up the blanket that Aimee had brought into the chests so that it could fit a lot.

"Archie... thank you very much for helping me."

Archie smiled, then patted the top of his sister’s head gently. Sasha, who didn’t want to lose, also helped Arielle to fold the blanket that Tania brought into a smaller size to fit in the chests.

One by one, the chests were filled with all that was needed. Aimee brought three doctors who could accompany Arielle. Priest Elis also sent Namina as well as some apprentice priests.

"Kael, Ronan said it would take three days to get there," Arielle said.

"I have a quick way, Your Highness. You can rest assured. Leave it all to me for this journey."

Lazarus helped Arielle get on the carriage then Aimee. An apprentice priest, Namina, was also joined in the carriage to warm the princess if the princess started to feel cold. Lazarus would stay in the palace with Lucas, Tania, Archie, and Priest Elis.

Several chests filled with necessities were pulled by four freight carts. After making sure everything was ready. Arielle was ready to follow Ronan to Birwick Village.

"Ready?" Kael asked.

Arielle nodded from her window. Then Kael lead the group leaving the palace.

Maybe when she got there, Ronan would be angry, but Arielle wouldn’t be able to stay in the palace without doing anything. She would also be safe because Kael was with her.
