Chapter 461: On The Way To Birwick Village

The carriage was pulled by two horses. The journey to Birwick Village turned out to be quite difficult. After passing through the forest where she first released Ronan’s deer, they had to go around one of the hills. Because if they used the normal route, it would take up to three days to reach the destination village.

Thus, Kael took them through a more complicated shortcut. They passed through a part of the forest that was not too dark. They also passed ravines and wooden bridges that were rarely used.

Arielle tried to look out the window and was amazed to see a row of hills that were quite high and steep. Below them flowed a river. Arielle frowned, feeling strange. Ronan said the Birwick area was very cold, and Arielle had confirmed it. It got cold easily here, but how could there be a river that flowed here? Meanwhile, they had just passed through a frozen lake.

The wind was blowing so hard that there was a crackling sound from outside. Arielle asked Namina and Aimee’s permission to open the window for a while.

"Can I open the window for a moment? I want to make sure everything is okay," Arielle said.

Aimee nodded, giving permission.

However, when the window was opened, Arielle was surprised because the cold wind slapped her face so hard that it made her instantly shiver. She hurriedly closed her carriage window again. Namina rushed to do his duty to warm the princess’s body.

"Whoa... what was that earlier?"" Arielle asked with a laugh.

"Princess... I thought it was quite dangerous. You were shivering... I’m sure everything is fine. My older brother is taking care of our luggages."

Arielle nodded in understanding. The carriage also managed to pass the wooden bridge and the rattling sound that Arielle heard earlier was no longer heard. After crossing the ravine earlier, the carriage was back in the forest area right now.

The wind that was blowing hard began to be blocked by the many trees, so the atmosphere felt calmer. When the light could no longer be heard, Arielle felt the air around her get heavier. There were no lights in the carriage, only the light from the crystal had been filled with mana by the priest Elis.

Aimee’s breathing seemed to get heavier too, and so did Namina. Haze came out of the mouths of the two as the two spoke. Arielle then touched Namina’s hand and thanked him.

"I’m warmer now. Now help Aimee to warm her body. After that, you can rest," Arielle said, feeling sorry to see the girl was trying as much as possible to hold back her sleep.

Arielle could see Namina several times, forcing his eyes open. THe had also helped her a number of times, so of course Namina’s strength would be drained. Maybe now he was also starting to feel tired now...

"Thank you, Namina," Aimee said when she felt her body was warm again, making her sigh in relief. The blushes on her cheeks came back, making Aimee look fresher now.

It was still dark outside. It wasn’t night yet, but they passed through a forest that was dense enough, making it difficult for the minimal northern light to penetrate the thickness of the twigs and leaves there.

Arielle, who was busy looking outside, suddenly blinked her eyes when she seemed to see the figure of a man dressed all in white in the distance.

Arielle’s heart was pounding because she seemed to see a pair of quite large yellow eyes behind the man’s shadow.

However, the shadow only lasted for a moment because the carriage kept moving, making it difficult for Arielle to focus her eyes. When Arielle tried to look through the back window of her carriage, she found nothing there.

"Lord Otis?" murmured Arielle because Lord Otis did live on Mount Birwick. However, according to Kael, the forest they passed was still very far from the real Mount Birwick.... Maybe this is only five percent of the outskirts of Mount Birwick.

Besides, that pair of yellow eyes earlier... maybe it was the dragon lord who was often with Lord Otis....

Arielle shook her head. There was also no way that Lord Otis was around here because the place where Lord Otis lived didn’t have snow at all.

"Oh, isn’t that one of the mountain guards?" Aimee asked, making Arielle turn quickly.

The mountain guard?

She squinted her eyes and saw a man dressed as a cathedral priest, but in white. The man waved his hand, which Aimee replied with a wave too.

Oh, Arielle almost forgot... maybe the shadow of the man she saw earlier was a mountain guard too...

Arielle had learned about them. They were priests trained in the cathedral chosen to protect the territory of Mount Birwick. When the discovery of a mysterious man during the reign of Ronan’s grandfather, the mysterious man who was found to have melted the thick snow of Mount Birwick, was also found by the mountain guards.

Arielle was calmer now.... And for the rest of the journey, she saw nothing else... not even a boar. The forest was quite deserted, as if uninhabited.

Until the night came, Arielle’s group did not rest at all. They had to pass through the forest before dawn so they could catch up with Ronan because the man planned to return before Arielle’s coronation day.

However, in the middle of a very cold night, Arielle, who was worried about the condition of the coachmen and knights, asked Kael to stop for a while to warm them up. Even the doctors who had never travelled far expressed their gratitude, as they also felt cold in the other carriage.

"You’re not hungry?" Arielle asked the knights who were waiting in line to be warmed by the priests and apprentice priests.

"No, Your Highness. We’ve been trained for these conditions," replied one of the nearby knights, who was resting by the window of Arielle’s carriage.

Arielle smiled at hearing that. "If you need anything, feel free to knock on my carriage. We go to Birwick Village to help others. But before that, we also need to pay attention to the condition of our bodies. I don’t want any of you to get sick," Arielle said.

"We understand, Your Highness," the knights replied in unison, including Kael.

"Alright, then I will go with Kael’s decision. Since it’s very late at night, I don’t mind continuing our journey after this..."

Kael nodded in understanding.

"We are still very capable of continuing our journey, Your Highness. That way, we can arrive before morning comes."

Arielle nodded in understanding. "In that case, alright. I understand," Arielle replied, then got back into her carriage.
