Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 488: Arielle First Lesson

After talking to Ronan for a while, Arielle came back out and apologized to Luffy about what had just happened that made the young dragon almost burn again. Luckily, Otis was quite skilled and had quick reflexes, so the fire was quickly extinguished before burning Luffy’s body.

"Ahahahaha! It’s fine... I can understand it. You’re still learning, aren’t you?" said Luffy who tried to encourage Arielle.

The girl then helped Otis spread more frog slime over Luffy’s scaly skin.

"Luffy, thank you for wanting to be my friend here," said Arielle who accepted Luffy’s gentle head rubbing on her palm.

"I should be the one thanking you, Arielle. Because I am disabled, I am always bullied and end up having no friends. The young dragons tend to avoid me. Luckily, you helped me at that time..."

Arielle and Luffy’s first meeting was quite unique. In the afternoon, after Arielle fetched water from the lake to fill the water jar in her hut, she saw dozens of young dragons flying over the lake. They looked very beautiful with a variety of colours.

However, there was one young dragon that made Arielle amazed. The dragon was on the other side of the lake. It had bright yellow scales with pink hues. A unique mix of colours, Arielle thought at the time.

The other young dragons seemed to be having so much fun, spitting their little flames at each other while chasing happily, but the yellow dragon remained silent with his head up. Arielle wondered when the dragon would fly?

Arielle had to stop even longer just to wait for the dragon to fly. Behind the tree, she silently gave the dragon spirit as he spread his wings very wide then started to flap them.

Arielle frowned in confusion because the young dragon couldn’t catch up with the others. He only flew a few meters in the air. Sometimes, when his wings did not flap, he would fall with his feet slightly hitting the surface of the lake. Then, the yellow dragon fell to the lake.

Arielle was shocked half to death. She thought the other dragons would come down to help, but they came down to laugh at the dragon. The yellow dragon seemed to be having a hard time swimming on the surface. He kept drowning deeper. Arielle then jumped into the lake without a second thought.

She had almost forgotten that she couldn’t swim, but her determination to help the young dragon was so great that her reckless action could still push her body forward. Arielle grabbed the dragon’s neck, and the young dragon’s body instantly shrunk and turned into a human.

Arielle, who couldn’t swim, felt cramps in her legs and almost drowned if Otis, who was with Xieno didn’t show up at that time. Xieno didn’t help. He just laughed contentedly by the lake while flapping his wings like a chicken. Meanwhile, Otis with his old body had to pull two people at once.

Since then, Luffy had helped bring Arielle some types of fruit that he got in the forest as a token of his gratitude for helping him. Luffy also accompanied Arielle to practice at night several times when Otis gave a task for her to be able to light a bonfire using the palm of her hand. Arielle failed to make a bonfire, but at least she made the firewood in front of her feel quite hot.

"Arielle, you can’t control your power yet. You have to focus on imagining a door, and you also have to make sure that the mana inside your body doesn’t get out of the way. You have to absorb it."

"I was already starting to feel it, but the voice in my head made me lose my concentration," replied Arielle regretfully because she had thought that she could absorb the heat left on Luffy’s wings.

"Voice?"

Arielle nodded. Otis understood what the girl’s meant. Arielle and Ronan had done the marking procession and their communication was completely open now.

"It looks like before we continue learning to control your power, it’s better if we do something more with it." Otis pointed at Arielle’s forehead.

"What do you mean, Lord Otis?"

"Arielle, now your line of communication with Ronan is completely open. It’s vulnerable to use by someone who can read minds."

Arielle frowned, not understanding what Lord Otis meant by it.

Otis then explained that one of the dragon clan’s abilities was reading minds. Reading other people’s minds without permission was forbidden by Xieno, but it was allowed during an emergency or they needed some important information. The dragon clan had learned how to close and open their minds so that no one could read their heads.

Otis told Arielle about an incident several decades ago. It was well known that the dragon clan was a clan that was quite full of pride, arrogant, and had high self-esteem. Then, one day, there were two dragons who hated each other so that when they overheard each other’s heads, they both got into a life and death battle.

From then on, Xieno ordered all members of the dragon clan to cover their minds, so that no one else would know the contents of each other’s heads and only opened them if they needed something urgent. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Otis was worried that some mischievous dragon would read Arielle’s open head and listened to the secret conversation between husband and wife. Besides that, Otis was more worried that something like this would happen again. While Arielle was focusing on concentrating, the voice on the other end disturbed and ruined all the progress that the girl had made.

"How do I do that?" asked Arielle.

"It was quite easy. Close your eyes. Concentration. Focus your thoughts on yourself and when you feel like there is a soft curtain descending your two dark eyes, it’s a sign that you have closed your mind. If you want to open it again, do the same process."

"That’s very easy, Arielle. I learned it when I was only six years old," Luffy chimed in, making Arielle chuckle.

"Well, if you can, I’ll give it a try."
