Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 498: Arielle’s Concern
Arielle woke up in a very fresh condition this morning. She picked up the banana she had taken yesterday then heard Ronan calling her. After greeting the man, Arielle was allowed to cut off their communication for a while.
While waiting for Otis, she chose to clean the yard of her hut from the remaining dry leaves, as well as the charcoal that she used to practice yesterday. Arielle also took some other firewood. Then, Luffy arrived first and followed by Otis who brought her a lot of candles.
"What is this for, Lord Otis? The oil lamp you brought is enough to light up my hut at night," Arielle said as she received many candles from Otis.
"Oh, Arielle, I’m sorry because in the next few days, it looks like I won’t be able to accompany you to practice. Maxieno told me to check the territorial border because there was a female dragon being bullied by the ape-men. The males asked for Maxieno’s help in cleaning their territory because the mate had chosen that place to live until she laying the eggs."
"Then, these candles?"
"You should practice focusing your mana on smaller and moving things. I wish when I got back you could light a fire in the fireplace and a candle too. Both of them have different point widths. So you have to manage how much mana you should take out. Practicing from big flames to small flames will help you get used to it, and it also builds your instincts. I’ve asked Luffy to watch over you."
Luffy turned into a small child with yellow skin then smiled broadly at Arielle.
"Leave it to me, Otis. I will be a very useful assistant."
"Then, I’ll go first, Arielle. I’m sorry for not being able to accompany you for the next few days."
"It’s all right, Lord Otis. I can understand," Arielle replied while waving back at Otis.
She quite understood because Lord Otis’ main job was to serve the dragons here, and the man only used his spare time to teach Arielle. Then, Arielle kept candles in her hut.
"Luffy, have you had breakfast? Ah, but I only have fruit," Arielle asked as she came back with a hair tie. She tied her hair into a ponytail before starting the practice.
"Yes, I ate a bird on the way here."
"Is it good?" Arielle asked while tidying up the firewood she was going to use.
"Of course. If you want one, I can give it to you tomorrow."
Arielle laughed and patted Luffy’s rough hair. "Luffy, don’t you think you’ve been playing with me too much? Didn’t your parents scold you because you know... my husband is a man who once fought with the dragon clan."
"It doesn’t matter. Besides, no one likes me. I have no friends. Before meeting you, I always flew behind them. Now that I have friends of my own, I’m not too desperate to ask them to be my friends. After all, I’ve only been bullied all this time because I can’t fly and spit fire like the other dragons."
Arielle rubbed Luffy’s head gently. "Yes, I am your friend. You can come visit at any time. If you need my help, you can also ask me without hesitation."
"Thank you, Arielle. You are the second person who understands me after Otis.."
Then, Arielle gathered her focus and concentration. First, she burned the pile of the firewood. To burn it, Arielle was capable enough to do it, but she was still having a hard time putting the fire out. Sometimes, if she couldn’t control it, Arielle burned the firewood in front of her even bigger.
Finally, the firewood was extinguished, and now Arielle was practicing using candles. As she did with the firewood, Arielle focused her thoughts on the palm of her hand, trying to control the amount of mana that came out of it. However, the first attempt failed because she burned the entire candle instead of the end of the string.
Luffy swiftly took another candle that Arielle had kept in her hut.
"It’s okay. Your second try will definitely succeed," Luffy said, encouraging Arielle.
On the fifth candle, finally Arielle could control the amount of flames she made to a smaller one.
She then extinguished it easily because the flames in the candle she had just lit were smaller than in the firewood.
"You want to rest?" Luffy asked while giving a glass of water to Arielle.
Arielle smiled at seeing Luffy who was so agile to help her this and that.
"Luffy, you really helped me today. Thank you," said Arielle, who was very grateful for Luffy’s help because the child did many small things so that she could focus on her practice. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Luffy always went back and forth to pick up the candles that Arielle kept in the hut so that the girl didn’t have to stand up and break her concentration just to get a new candle. Luffy also did not hesitate to get Arielle fruit and drinking water if he saw her starting to sweat.
"Yeah, maybe I need to rest a few minutes before continuing," said Arielle while stretching her arms to relax her stiff muscles.
"Arielle," Luffy called, causing Arielle who was drinking to look at the child.
"Yes, Luffy???"
"It’s about Abigail," Luffy said, making Arielle put down her glass for a while and give her full attention to Luffy.
"What’s wrong with Abigail?"
"I took her yesterday to the cave where Abigail has lived for the past ten years. The place is really not well maintained. Otis offered to tidy up the place and clean it up, but Abigail refused even though the place is so dirty, Arielle. I feel sorry for what Otis told me, because naturally, it should be her mate’s job. But, Abigail doesn’t have a mate anymore, so she just let it be," Luffy said.
Arielle had been thinking about this since last night. She planned to tell the truth about what happened to Xavier, Abigail’s mate, but it was really hard. Arielle still had a fear of being hated. Abigail was a good person. Besides, the woman was still pregnant. Arielle did not want anything bad to happen to Abigail.
