Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 499: Something Happened With Abigail
Arielle planned to keep this secret until Abigail finished laying her eggs, but she did not know when exactly Abigail would lay her eggs, while Arielle also did not know how long she could master her power.
Arielle still wished she could get through the days here as quickly as possible.
"Besides, there is something strange," Luffy continued.
"What’s strange?"
"When we arrived at the cave where Abigail lived, Abigail immediately became very weak. Otis didn’t seem to notice it. I’ve also never met a pregnant dragon before. My mother laid five eggs at a time and was not pregnant anymore. However, the female dragon mother said that she would suffer a lot before the day of laying her eggs. I’m just worried because there’s no male who can move quickly to help Abigail if something happens."
Arielle stood up and wiped the dirt off her clothes.
"Luffy, do you remember the direction to the cave where Abigail lives?" Arielle asked.
"Yes, why?"
"Take me there. I want to make sure that Abigail is completely fine on her own."
"But, Arielle... your training..."
"I can continue after I return from visiting Abigail," Arielle replied, then went to the forest where she took Abigail yesterday.
Luffy wasn’t sure if Arielle was allowed to go there because he remembered Otis said that a pregnant female dragon would be very sensitive and didn’t like other creatures coming into her lair. Usually, there would be a male who guarded them, but Abigail was alone, and it would make her feel more uncomfortable.
However, it was Arielle who visited. Luffy thought that everything would be fine...
He immediately turned into a yellow dragon and flew behind Arielle. The young dragon offered Arielle to ride on his back, but she refused. Luffy had been carrying a lot of things since yesterday. The boy was also having a hard time flying high, so Arielle didn’t want to burden Luffy even more.
Arielle and Luffy entered a dense forest. The sunlight was starting to be covered by the shady leaves of the tall trees. Luffy remembered all the turns with certainty. Their journey was quite far because Abigail wanted to be away from the crowds of other dragons centered in the area around the Birwick Kingdom’s old castle.
"Is it still far away?" Arielle asked as she stopped in front of the river that was flowing quite swiftly in front of her.
Arielle, who was wearing men’s clothes that afternoon, folded her pants and jumped over every rock to cross the river.
"Yeah, it’s still halfway through."
Arielle shook her head in disbelief. Did every time the food ran out, Abigail always crossed this path alone without protection just to ask Maxieno to provide food supplies for her?
Maxieno really had gone too far. Even though Abigail was his younger brother’s mate, who would add a new generation to the dragon clan and gave him nieces, that man had absolutely no intention of doing periodic checks.
As an older brother, Maxieno supposedly visited Abigail and provided all her needs without waiting for Abigail to come out of the cave herself.
Arielle didn’t know how many hours they had walked. She looked up at the sky. The sun was out of sight even though it was still bright, which meant it was already late in the afternoon. Luffy and Arielle arrived outside the forest and found a rock hill.
"Abigail is up there!" Luffy pointed towards a cave that was on top of the rock.
Luffy turned into a human again. "I’m sorry, Arielle. I can’t lift you up that far," he said regretfully.
Last night, Luffy couldn’t lift Abigail and food supplies up, so he had to turn into a human and carry them by hand. Luffy really felt ashamed because as a dragon he was the real evidence of a failure. His other relatives and friends would laugh at him if they saw his current situation.
Arielle could see the sadness on Luffy’s face, then grabbed his hands, holding them tightly.
"Let’s climb it together. Walking is better because it is healthier," Arielle asked the young dragon to climb the rock together.
Luckily, on the hill, there was already a circular path, so Arielle could easily climb it.
She arrived in front of the mouth of the cave with a ragged breath. This was a really tiring activity. Her breath hitched as if she was out of breath. Arielle rested for a while to neutralize her heart rhythm. Luffy was also tired, but not as tired as Arielle felt.
When everything calmed down, Arielle suddenly heard a soft cry.
"Abigail?" called Arielle softly.
No answer. Arielle then went in to look for Abigail’s whereabouts.
Luffy was right. The cave was very dirty. The remains of rotting fruit mixed with the remains of rotten food that were not eaten were in every other part of the cave. There were also remnants of fruit that had been bitten. Beside her was a thick blanket placed on top of a haystack. It looked like it was Abigail’s bed. But, where was the woman?
The further Arielle went in, the louder the cries she could hear. Arielle touched Luffy’s shoulder to stay behind her.
Behind a fairly large stone partition, Arielle saw Abigail curled up alone with a trembling body.
"Abigail!" cried Arielle in panic.
Abigail looked up, and the tears fell even harder. "Arielle!" shouted the woman. She hugged Arielle very tightly. Her body was drenched in sweat and shaking violently.
Abigail looked very frightened.
"Abigail, what happened to you?" Arielle asked.
"Arielle... something in the forest... I feel like... something watching me... There’s no Xavier here! Arielle... There is no Xavier who will take care of me!!!" cried Abigail desperately. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
What? Arielle didn’t quiet get what Abigail’s mean. She looked at the surrounding and didn’t find anything suspicious. She need to made Abigail calmed first and asked about what she mean by now.
Arielle continued to gently rub Abigail’s back. "Shh.... Don’t worry... I’m here, Abigail... I’ll protect you," she said. Arielle felt sad because Abigail looked so fragile right now.
