Chapter 761: Irene’s Departure

"Are you ready to start your day at the dormitory?" asked Arielle.

"Yes. Aimee will accompany me for a few days at the dormitory. I can learn a lot from her."

Arielle nodded. Aimee was the best teacher Irene could have. Aimee had experience going to the same academy. At least with Aimee’s help, Irene could adapt to her dorm life.

Arielle never went to school, so she wouldn’t be able to help much. She could only help Irene from a distance.

Arielle then helped Aimee and Tania to put on Irene’s uniform. The uniform consisted of a white long-sleeved shirt, a black sleeveless dress that reached to the knees, warm white long socks, and a thin red tie forming a butterfly.

On the chest was a pin showing the class of nobility, while the red ribbon on Irene’s left hand showed the class in which she would study.

Irene stood up and twirled her body briefly, causing everyone in the room to applaud.

"Wow... you are very beautiful," praised Tania, who was moved to see Irene looked much braver than before.

If there was still time, Arielle wanted to paint Irene. It was the day that Irene would always remember and Arielle wanted to enshrine it into a painting. However, they didn’t have much time. Arielle didn’t want Irene to be late for the welcoming ceremony for the new students at the academy.

After a while, Lucas came with the news that breakfast was ready. Aimee rushed to carry Irene’s academy coat, while Arielle and Irene walked hand in hand towards the dining hall. Every person they met greeted Irene and praised her because she looked very beautiful that morning.

In the dining hall, everyone was already waiting. Their breakfast this morning looked livelier than usual. Several high priests, including Priest Louise, Elis, as well as Priest Jill were present. William, Kael, and Lazarus appeared neat in their own uniforms. Viscount Ferdi’s couple along with Sasha also joined them. Arthur and Ronan sat at the end of the table.

Seeing how lively the dining room was, Ireen gasped and turned to Arielle with a surprised expression. Arielle just gave the young girl a subtle smile.

Arthur stood up to invite his daughter to join them. Arielle approached her husband, and Ronan quickly got up to pull a chair for his wife. He refused when Lucas offered to pull up Arielle’s chair.

After everyone sat down in their seats, Ronan clinked his glasses with a fork.

"This morning, we will send off two Northendell youngsters to shine at the academy. They had gone through quite a difficult test and passed it excellently. Irene and Sasha are about to start their life as a student. I hope that the knowledge they gain at the academy will be of use to Northendell in the future. Then, let’s cheers for Princess Irene’s and our Apprentice Knight Sasha’s success."

Arielle raised her glass. So did everyone else at the dinner table.

"For Princess Irene and Sasha," exclaimed Arielle.

And everyone did the same. "For Princess Irene and Sasha!"

After having breakfast together, Irene and Sasha were invited to go to the cathedral. They were given a blessing by Priest Louise before they left for the academy. Each of them got a necklace with a small crystal containing mana to accompany them so they wouldn’t get cold on their way to the academy.

Irene and Sasha set off on two different carriages. Aimee was with Irene in the first carriage, while Sasha was with her parents. Crimson, his baby sister wasn’t invited because the journey to the academy was quite long. And William would guard them from behind.

Arielle gave Irene one last hug before the young girl got in her carriage.

"Arielle, I’m going to miss you."

"I am going to miss you too. When the holidays come, I’ll be waiting for you at the palace."

Irene curtsied to Ronan who was standing beside Arielle. The young girl looked like she wanted to say something, but she was hesitant. Ronan took the initiative by extending his hand. Irene looked at the large hand for a moment before welcoming it in a handshake.

"Take good care of yourself," said Ronan.

Irene only answered it by nodding her head. She didn’t know if this could be called a farewell. When their hands finally separated, Irene worked up the courage to spread her arms and hug Ronan into a tight embrace.

Everyone was astounded. Likewise Arielle who was surprised at Irene’s courage to hug her brother.

"Thank you for everything. I will study hard and make you proud of me."

Ronan returned Irene’s hug and patted the young girl’s back awkwardly. It had never crossed his mind that Irene would hug him like this. His heart was pounding. He felt like someone who was proud of something. Ronan eventually nodded.

The warmth of his sister’s embrace was gone when Irene let go of her hug. Irene had to leave already. Now it was Sasha’s turn to say goodbye. Arielle gave a brief kiss on Sasha’s cheek, making the boy blush.

"Your Majesty, you are a queen. Ekhem, I... still want to marry a princess, not a queen," Sasha said shyly.

Arielle curled her lips into a subtle smile and let Sasha say whatever he wanted. She waved her hand to Irene who opened the carriage window. The two carriages then left the palace grounds. Somehow, her heart felt a bit heavy.

Arielle wouldn’t be able to see Irene and Sasha for a few months. If only time could go faster.

Ronan invited Arielle to come inside because it was snowing harder outside.

The roar in the sky made Arielle stop her steps. She looked back and saw the sky darken. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Let’s go. I already miss you. It feels so lonely when you don’t sleep beside me," Ronan whispered in his wife’s ear. Arielle just chuckled and followed her husband into the palace.

Arielle still had much to do. One by one the mysteries of the curse began to reveal. She just needed to be patient and more persistent in getting information from Maxieno. The stubborn dragon. However, it was very difficult to talk to him.

She just wanted to ask a few things, but the dragon seemed to really hate seeing her face.

"What are you going to do after this?" Ronan asked as he took off his wife’s warm coat, which was covered in snow.

"As usual. There’s nothing special."

Ronan smiled and pulled Arielle to sit on his lap.

The roars could be heard again. Arielle and Ronan looked back at the glass window once again.

"Somehow I have a bad feeling," said Arielle, who was uncomfortable with the atmosphere that morning.

Ronan looked at the darkening sky once more. It was an ordinary sight. However, he couldn’t deny that he felt the same way. He also had an inexplicably bad feeling.
