Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Winter’s forgiveness was all Sebastian wanted in his life.

He hugged Winter tightly and buried his face on her shoulder. He made sure to listen to her heartbeat, making sure that she was still alive, and he was not dreaming.

"You don’t know how many nightmares I went through just for this, Winter," Sebastian muttered. "If this is just a dream, then please let it stay forever. I don’t care if I have to be stuck in this dream for the rest of my life."

Winter patted his back and assured him, "Can you feel my body heat? That’s the proof that I’m alive, and we’ve gotten our second chance."

"Yes, I’ve gotten my second chance. I’ve mended my mistake," Sebastian mumbled, letting his words sink in completely. "Please don’t let me go, I want to stay like this for a while, Winter."

"I won’t let you go this time. I promise."

Sebastian was still holding the baby picture of him, Camilla, and Rafael while hugging Winter. He was thinking about the family he would never have, but after Winter hugged him, he slowly let it go and enjoyed the hug instead. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"It’s true that I’ve been robbed out of a family I will never have. But I have you, Winter..." Sebastian murmured. "I have you, and that’s all I need. Please see me as a human rather than a tool. Please treat me with love, as I have given my everything for you."

Winter remembered her time with Sebastian in her previous life. That man was cold and unfeeling. He was like a robot who went in and out of the office without even showing much emotion in front of her.

Thus, seeing how fragile Sebastian actually was, she couldn’t help but feel like she had control over her life once more.

"You should return to the penthouse, Sebastian," Winter suggested.

"But the guest room has been occupied by your mother. Do you want me to stay in the storage room? I thought you already have Aiden’s belongings there."

"No, dummy. You should stay with me in the master bedroom," Winter said. "You are my husband."

Sebastian’s eyes widened. He separated himself and held Winter’s shoulder to see whether she was serious or not. Ever since they got married in their previous lives, he could count on one hand how many times they shared beds.

He had given up on sleeping on the same bed with Winter, thinking it was a pipe dream. That’s why he wanted to make sure that Winter meant what she said just now.

"A-Are you serious? You can’t take back your words, you know. Once you let me sleep with you in the master bedroom, then I will stay there forever every night," Sebastian said. "I won’t allow you to kick me out too."

"As long as you don’t snore, I guess," Winter chuckled.

"I-I don’t!"

"Then, I see nothing wrong with sleeping together as a married couple," Winter stood up from the sofa and said, "Why don’t we go up now? Don’t worry about your belongings, you can tell the housekeeper to bring it all upstairs tomorrow."

Sebastian sprung from the sofa like an excited boy. He had a big smile as he nodded, "Alright then! Let’s go!"

Winter glanced at the wooden box on the table and said, "You should take that with you. Maybe keep it somewhere safe in case you want to look at the baby pictures again."

Sebastian looked at the wooden box, and nodded as he decided to take it with him.

Winter and Sebastian went upstairs to the penthouse, and as she opened the door and walked to the living room, they saw Gina sitting on the sofa, watching TV.

Gina turned her head and smiled at Sebastian whom she just met for the first time in her life.

"It seems the Mister is back in the house," Gina joked. "I’m Winter’s mom if she hasn’t told you before."

Sebastian glanced at Winter to get her approval, and Winter nodded to give him the green light.

Thus, Sebastian walked toward his mother-in-law, the woman whom he never met in his previous life. He sat next to her, covering the old lady’s wrinkly hand with his warm palms, and said, "My name’s Sebastian Saenz. I’m sorry that I never came for a visit before. I promise to treat you well this time, uh... Mrs. Hazard."

"What’s with your awkwardness? You are my son-in-law, just call me Gina," Gina laughed heartily. She looked at her daughter and said, "I didn’t expect your husband to be the shy type."

"He’s not shy, Mom. He’s just a bit nervous," Winter chuckled as she leaned on the wall. "Why don’t you two have a conversation while I prepare dinner for us?"

"That would be great," Gina smiled.

"I-I will help—"

"No, just stay there and talk to my mom. She was curious about you because she didn’t get to attend our wedding before," Winter said as she entered the kitchen, wore an apron, and started checking the fridge.

"My daughter is willful, don’t you think?" Gina teased, and Sebastian was caught off guard. He didn’t know what to say in front of his mother-in-law, so he decided to be honest.

"S-she is. But it’s part of her charm that I like."

"Really? Then that’s good. I just said that because I want you to know that my daughter was raised in a harsh place," Gina said. "She can be stubborn and willful, but she is actually very sensitive. If you make her angry, it would take a long time for her to calm down."

’I hope a lifetime is enough for her to calm down,’ Sebastian thought.

"She was a hard worker before she got married, but I hope that you don’t force her to work again. She told me once that she wants to be a homemaker instead."

"I will never let her work again," Sebastian stated firmly. "I will make sure the company that Aiden left for her will be taken care of, and she can live a comfortable life as a homemaker."

"She also told me that she wants to be a mother," Gina added. "So, if your relationship with her has been fixed, you should talk to her about it, alright? I want to have a grandchild."
