Madam's Awakening Shocks The Whole World-Chapter 115 - 113: Good Intentions Repaid with Resentment
Chapter 115: Chapter 113: Good Intentions Repaid with Resentment
Upon reaching the second floor, Lee Fong expertly dashed into the supermarket to buy some necessities, with Qin Qin trailing behind the pair. Watching them discuss which ingredients were fresh and how some should be used, she felt utterly clueless. Alright, forgive her for not understanding a single word; she might as well stick to her roles as a divine doctor and part-time Swindler.
But this world was truly fascinating, a supermarket where you could buy everything.
Having been reborn into this world, it was her first time shopping in a supermarket, which she couldn’t help but find quite peculiar.
Just then, a ball rolled to Qin Qin’s feet, and she squatted down to pick up the ball by her foot.
"Sister, the ball in your hand is mine," a cute little boy pointed at the ball Qin Qin was holding.
The little boy was chubby, and Qin Qin smiled as she handed the ball to the little boy and tousled his hair.
The little boy looked at Qin Qin shyly, "Sister, you can’t touch my hair. Mommy said boys’ hair shouldn’t be touched casually by others."
Qin Qin raised an eyebrow and laughed, "Then what should your sister do now? I didn’t know."
The little boy seemed not to have expected Qin Qin to respond in such a way, his little brows furrowing, "Nannan doesn’t know either, but sister, you shouldn’t touch boys’ hair from now on."
"Nannan, what are you doing? Who allowed you to talk to strangers?" A plump middle-aged woman angrily stepped forward, seizing the little boy Nannan by the arm and glancing up at Qin Qin with a look that seemed to suspect her of having bad intentions.
"Nannan, where did you run off to? You had mommy worried to death!" A beautiful woman in her thirties hurriedly came running over, grabbing hold of Nannan.
She had been shopping with her mother-in-law when Nannan suddenly disappeared, prompting her frantic search.
"Mommy, Nannan’s ball ran away, so Nannan went to find the ball. It’s this sister who helped Nannan find it," Nannan ran into his mother’s arms, acting spoiled.
Nannan’s mother was about to thank Qin Qin but was preempted by her mother-in-law speaking first.
With a stern glare at Qin Qin, Nannan’s grandma warned him, "Nannan, in the future, don’t just call anyone sister. Who knows if they have ulterior motives? Didn’t grandma tell you not to talk to strangers?"
Nannan, scared by his grandma’s loud voice, hid in his mother’s embrace.
Nannan’s mother smiled apologetically at Qin Qin, feeling slightly embarrassed. Her mother-in-law was like that, suspicious of everyone. She would see someone dressed poorly and immediately suspect them of harboring bad intentions.
"Mom, she didn’t mean anything by it, please don’t talk like that," whispered Nannan’s mother.
Nannan’s grandma shot a glare at her daughter-in-law, "What do you know? You can’t even keep an eye on a child properly; it would be better if I were in charge of him."
Nannan’s grandma took hold of Nannan and was about to leave when Qin Qin softly called out to her.
"Old lady, please watch your grandson carefully; there are many people who will take children these days." She had taken a closer look at the boy named Nannan and noticed a foul aura between his brows, then through her ghost eyes she saw him being forcefully snatched into a car by a gang of human traffickers.
After hearing Qin Qin’s words, Nannan’s grandma stared at her angrily, "You and your ill-omened words, how dare you curse my grandson?"
Qin Qin, having meant well by her warning, was met with such words from the elderly woman in front of her, and her expression soured.
If it weren’t for finding that boy named Nannan quite cute, she wouldn’t have bothered to warn them, and now her good intentions had been met with such misunderstanding.
Nannan’s mother, after hearing Qin Qin’s words, also looked unhappy. Just a moment ago, she had felt slightly guilty towards the girl, but upon hearing her say these things, her mood naturally couldn’t lift.
"Old lady, whether you believe it or not is up to you!"
"What happened to Qin Qin?" Lu Xue Zhen and Lee Fong had just finished selecting their groceries when they noticed a conflict brewing and hurried over.
"What happened? Let everyone judge for themselves. I merely criticized her a bit, and she actually cursed my grandson with being kidnapped by traffickers. It’s simply outrageous," Nannan’s grandma yelled loudly, directly addressing the crowd around her.
A crowd gathered, and upon hearing Nannan’s grandma’s words, they all started pointing and gossiping about Qin Qin.
"Such a young age and already learning to curse others."
Lu Xue Zhen and Lee Fong felt upset upon hearing such words. They unconditionally supported Qin Qin. If she said something, it must be because there was a reason for it.
"Old lady, if Qin Qin said this, it must be because something is going to happen to your grandson. You should believe her; she is a very capable fortune-teller," Lu Xue Zhen said with a stern face.
On hearing what Lu Xue Zhen had said, Nannan’s grandma spat out in disdain, "Ptui, fortune-teller?! I might as well be a fairy. With the way she looks, she’s more like a swindler to me."
Lu Xue Zhen glared angrily at this ungrateful woman, about to step forward and argue, but Qin Qin caught hold of her.
"Forget it, there’s no need to argue with these kinds of people. I’ve done what I needed to do. Whether they believe it or not is their problem. Have you finished shopping?"
"Yes, we’re done."
"Then let’s go and pay."
Although Qin Qin felt a moment of anger, she soon regained her usual composure. She thought it was understandable that they didn’t believe her; she had given her warning and saw no need to argue with the crowd any further.
Lu Xue Zhen and Lee Fong nodded, and the three of them left directly.
Behind them, Nannan’s grandma continued to curse at Qin Qin and her friends, while Nannan’s mother stood there with an embarrassed look on her face. With such a mother-in-law, there was nothing she could do. But what did that girl mean by her words? To curse her son out of the blue—it was infuriating!
After paying, Qin Qin and her friends encountered Nannan and the other two just leaving the supermarket.
"Hmph!" Nannan’s grandma snorted upon seeing Qin Qin.
Qin Qin didn’t pay any heed to Nannan’s grandma. Instead, she sighed internally, hoping they would take her previous warning to heart. It would be a pity if such a lovely boy were to be kidnapped. She wasn’t a saint and wouldn’t go out of her way for a stranger. If it weren’t for the boy’s cuteness, she wouldn’t have bothered to warn them at all.
Nannan’s grandma led Xiao Nannan off in another direction, with Nannan’s mother heading to the car.
Nannan’s grandma stood by the roadside waiting for Nannan’s mother.
At that moment, a woman with a non-local accent approached, "Excuse me, grandmother, could you tell me how to get to XX Road?"
The woman handed a map to Nannan’s grandma, hoping for help.
Although Nannan’s grandma was somewhat reluctant, she released Nannan’s hand to examine the map, "Oh, you go straight down this road, then turn a corner, and turn another, and you’ll be there."
"Ah... child snatching!"
An alarmed cry of a passerby rang out from somewhere.
Nannan’s grandma felt the sound of crying next to her. When she turned around, she saw her grandson, Nannan, being snatched into a gray van, which then sped away quickly.
"Nannan, Nannan, what are you doing? Give me back my Nannan! Damn human traffickers." Nannan’s grandma tried to chase after the van but simply couldn’t catch up and could only watch as the van disappeared from her sight.
