Mage Legend-Chapter 398: Travel and Travel Beyond Travel - Ten Curse_2
"I’ve never seen anything like this," the old sailor said. "Even an ordinary child shouldn’t suffer from heatstroke so severely. But when it comes to this little winged child, I don’t know what to do."
"This isn’t like an illness," Zilvra said. "To me, it seems more like a curse." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"A curse?" Lynch furrowed his brows. "Who would curse an angel? And how would they cast such a spell?"
"If I’d studied a few more years at ’that’ temple, I might be able to answer your question," Zilvra said regretfully, gently stroking Soka’s little face.
The mage walked over to Soka, placed his hand on her forehead, and concentrated on feeling the energy within her. The powerful magic resistance of the angel tribe made it challenging for this observation, but the continuous flow of Magic Origin Power supported Lynch’s will. The little angel moaned in pain, her face alternating between red and pale. Zilvra and Van Dijk held their breath, anxiously waiting.
"No, there’s no trace of magic in her body. Whether it’s a mage’s arcane arts or a priest’s Divine Arts, I couldn’t find anything," Lynch shook his head, lifting his hand from Soka’s head. "I didn’t detect a curse, unless the one who cast it is far beyond my power."
At this point, Lynch recalled Cicy, who was still sailing outside, and thought that this old dragon, who was almost like a living fossil, might have a solution. He immediately left the cabin.
Just as he stepped onto the deck, Cicy’s voice, like a storm, greeted him: "Mage, why have you come out again? Have you understood the loneliness in my heart and decided to empathize with my solitude by staying to chat with me? You’re too kind. I’m always torn, wanting you to tell novel stories but afraid this vicious sun will roast you. Now that you’ve come out, you’ve given me a dilemma. What should I do?"
Lynch ignored him and waved his Magic Wand at the ship’s anchor, allowing the heavy anchor chain to plunge into the water. The speed of the Seashell gradually slowed and finally came to a halt.
"Cicy, there’s a patient who needs your attention now. If you still go on and on at a time like this, I will consider it intentional manslaughter. Whether according to the mage and giant dragon alliance or your brass dragon’s benevolent nature, this is unacceptable. Even if my power is low, I will drive you away at that time!"
Staring at the mage’s determined eyes, Cicy remained motionless. His pupils narrowed into vertical slits, flashing with yellow light. The brass dragon was contemplating what qualifications this young man in front of him had to challenge him. The dragon clan’s dignity and pride kept his head raised, fixed to the deck like a nail, unmoving.
Lynch watched the brass dragon, observing his behavior. A trace of doubt about the curse still lingered in his heart. Soka’s symptoms were too similar to the late Ida Eagle Head’s. The mage found no traces of external harm on either of them. Initially, he thought the druid was acting, but the fact that Eagle Head could accurately sense the approach of dragons through "pain" was undeniable. Although there was no reason to believe the brass dragon had cast a spell on the angel Soka, it couldn’t be ruled out that he had tampered quietly.
The mage intentionally used such impolite language with the dragon to test Cicy’s character and limits of patience. If it was indeed related to him, Lynch wouldn’t hesitate to challenge the dragon.
The Eye of Insight kept a close watch on Cicy’s every move, with the black whirlpool in its pupil spinning rapidly. The brass dragon was astonished by this phenomenon, unable to figure out what it was. Looking at Lynch, he remembered his former master, Casus. Known as a mighty force even in the era of the Great Arcanist, Casus’s refined gold arm was now in the hands of the young mage opposite Cicy.
"Mage, your tone when asking for help is not friendly," Cicy remarked. "But compared to your firm resolve to save lives, it’s not much. As a brass dragon, and one who existed when the mage alliance was signed, I will tolerate your rudeness this time." He slowly walked down from the helm position and stood in front of the mage. "Young human, you should thank your predecessors. Their long-standing efforts allow you to stand safely before me now. Remember, even a benevolent dragon can kill in anger."
