Chapter 367: You can do better!
Chapter 367
"And for the last time, I’m no kid. Now, I’m going to show you why I’m my dad’s son!" Finral shouted as the air around him began trembling, a smirk creeping onto his face.
"What? Is whatever you’re doing supposed to scare me?" the man asked as he bolted straight for Finral, who just shook his head with a small sigh.
Boom!
The man exploded from where he stood with so much speed and force that the ground beneath him cracked. In the next second, he was seen heading for Finral with all the speed he could muster while the crowd watched on, holding their breath.
He swung his spear in a thrusting motion towards Finral, who simply sidestepped and swung his foot in a roundhouse kick toward the man. freēnovelkiss.com
"Tsk!" The man scoffed as he quickly withdrew his spear from the thrust and swung it to the side, successfully blocking Finral’s kick with a bang that reverberated through the spear. His hand shook from the impact. "Interesting."
"Just shut up!" Finral roared as he exploded forward from his position, leapt up, and then came falling back down with his leg raised above him, descending in an axe kick towards the man’s head.
"You never learn, huh?" the man muttered with a sigh as Ki flared up from his hands and infused into his spear.
In one smooth motion, his spear shot up in a horizontal arc, blocking the axe kick from Finral. A huge shockwave shot up, cracking the ground beneath the man hard, his knees buckling under the pressure.
But with gritted teeth, he swirled his Ki around his legs to give himself a boost, pushing off and throwing Finral out of the air.
Finral tumbled and bounced across the ground for a few seconds before he forcefully brought himself to a halt, dirt and dust rising around him.
"Why?" the man asked with a raised eyebrow as he saw Finral slowly standing up, spitting out blood and saliva mixed together.
"Why what?" Finral asked, his own eyebrow raised despite the blood trickling down his lip.
"Why are you protecting a terrorist? You are a citizen of this faction, so you should know what the Red Brigade did to us. And you still oppose us?
Do you know how big the Midnight Sun clan is? Wherever you come from, whoever you are, we can wipe you all out in a second." The man threatened, his voice laced with venom.
"And still, you can’t defeat the one you call a kid. How pathetic." Finral scoffed as he shook his head in disappointment, while the man clenched his hands tighter around his spear, his knuckles whitening in anger.
"Besides, I’m not protecting that idiot. Heck! I couldn’t care less if you arrest, torture, or even kill him. I won’t care. But what I’m pissed about is that you tried to lay your hands on my sister." Finral shouted, his fists now clenched tightly by his sides.
"Your sister was opposing the law. She was obstructing me from carrying out justice!" the man retorted sharply, his tone rising with frustration.
"You call that justice? You were about to arrest someone innocent just for having red hair. It’s like arresting someone for being born." Finral facepalmed himself, sighing deeply as if it physically hurt him to witness such stupidity.
"You still don’t get it, huh?" the man sighed as he now pointed the tip of his spear forward, eyes narrowing with deadly intent. Then, he shook his head.
"You survive this," the man said as the spear began lighting up with bright yellow energy that crackled with intensity, forming streaks of power that coiled around it like living lightning.
"Maybe, I will consider that you are not a kid." The man smirked, and then—
Bang!
An explosion rang out as something bright, big, and fast shot out of the tip of the spear with so much speed that, in less than a second, it crashed into its target.
Half a building got disintegrated from the energy, and so did the ground. It looked as if acid had been thrown on the ground and building, causing them to melt down completely.
The crowd, on seeing this, gasped loudly as Finral was nowhere to be seen. Instead, there was only melted ground and crumbling building remnants.
"That’s it? The clan just killed a child? Is that how the Midnight Sun does things now?"
"Remember that the child was obstructing the law."
"Does that justify killing him? There’s something called an arrest, damn it!"
"And then what? Start arresting people with red hair? Come to think of it, don’t you think the clan might be wrong? That red-haired boy bore no insignia of the Red Brigade, and they wanted to arrest him? That made no sense."
"Hey! Weren’t you part of those that wanted to kill him just for having red hair?"
"That was when I was ignorant."
"You all will never ch—" the individual trailed off as his eyes widened in surprise at what he saw, and so did the clan member, who smirked slowly.
"I told you, I’m not a kid," Finral said as he suddenly appeared behind the clan member. His sleeves were burnt, and so was his wrist. Blood trickled down his mouth as he glared at the man.
"And as you can see, I’m not dead. So take your words back," he added.
"That’s impressive, but you’re still a kid though." The man chuckled when he noticed Finral’s eyes twitching, and so were his hands.
Ki could be felt swirling around Finral’s hands—from his shoulders down to the palms of his hands and the tips of his fingers—as he kept on glaring at the clan member in front of him.
"I already said this before, and I will say it again just in case you have bad hearing," Finral said as he raised both his hands to the sky while glaring at the man. "Don’t call me a kid again!" he shouted and then shot his hands sideways before bringing them back together in a loud, thunderous clap.
Boom!
A huge shockwave that levelled a building spread out as it hit the clan member with so much force that it lifted him off his feet and sent him crashing into another building, bringing half of it down.
After that, Finral collapsed on his knees in exhaustion as he weakly glanced at the building he sent the man into. Soon enough, the man could be seen walking out with a trickle of blood down his head.
"All that for a trickle of blood?" the man asked as he sighed, his spear pointed right at Finral, who was on his knees in exhaustion. "You can do better than that," he said, and then he exploded from his position towards the kneeling boy.
His spear thrust towards Finral’s head while he shut his eyes in fear until—
Clang!
And a voice followed:
"That’s enough from you!"
