Before Leo’s eyes, Noelle moved far too fast for him to even register her specific trajectory.
It was as if the girl had suddenly been seized by madness, her sudden movement defying all tactical reason.
Taking more than two steps from their current position was normally tantamount to a death sentence, as that boundary marked the beginning of Selene’s absolute range of lethality.
And yet, Noelle pressed ahead bravely or... perhaps foolishly.
Nobody could even shift from their spots, let alone attempt to reach out and pull her back from what appeared to be a suicidal maneuver.
All they could do was watch in frozen horror as she crossed the threshold, entering deep within Selene’s killing zone.
It was crushing for Leo to witness, as he felt he knew exactly what would follow.

Though she was not his biological daughter, he had spent years of his life looking after her, grooming her into the warrior Selene demanded.
Moreover, he had dedicated two intense months to training her, pushing her to break through to the next Yun stage while imparting the secrets of the clan’s technique.

A sharp cut opened on her arm, drawing a thin line of crimson.
She tried to force her legs to move again, but more and more shallow cuts began appearing across her body, her face, and even her legs as the density of the barrier increased.
Crossing her hands in front of her face while coating them with a dense layer of Ki, Noelle continued pushing forward even as her whip began cracking more and more under the atmospheric pressure.

Another larger, horizontal slash landed on her thighs, causing her to tumble for a fleeting moment until she stabbed her second foot into the ground to regain her stability.
With every injury she sustained, Leo’s counter-slashes from the perimeter became more and more erratic.
He increased his output, his strikes crossing more distance than the previous ones in the desperate hope that one would at least catch Selene unaware.
Lilly, on the other hand, let out a sharp sigh and pulled three arrows from her quiver at once.
Nocking them simultaneously, she allowed her Ki to flow into both the shafts and the bowstring.
Pulling back with all her might, she focused.
Her eyes sharpened into needles, and her breathing became perfectly even.
Then, with a powerful release, the arrows screamed through the air, pulling a small gale of wind behind them as they flew past the point where the previous projectiles had failed.
As they delved deeper into the zone, one arrow splintered under the barrier’s weight while the remaining two kept flying.
Getting farther ahead, a second was struck down, leaving only the last arrow, which was beginning to lose its momentum the deeper it penetrated.
For some reason, it felt as if the barrier possessed a mind of its own; it focused its invisible slashes entirely on the arrow, refusing to let it get any closer.
But as if possessing the same indomitable will as Noelle, the arrow refused to fall.
This forced Selene’s sentient whip to act on its own accord, striking the projectile down immediately.
Meanwhile, Noelle was currently on her knees.
Her teeth ground together repeatedly as her lips were busted and bruised.
Her arms were bleeding profusely, but the fire in her eyes remained undiminished as she clawed at the ground, trying to shove herself back up.
"No-No matter what, I-I will be the one to take-take you down, Selene!" Noelle roared into the air, her eyes shining fiercely.
The protective Ki suddenly left her body, robbing her of the shielding she had enjoyed.
Now, she was left unprotected, forced to suffer the full force of the barrier as it aimed directly at her vitals.
But with a mind of its own, her own barrier decided not to battle the others; it chose instead to focus entirely on protecting Noelle’s vital organs.
This tactical shift allowed her to flow the remaining Ki from her body into her feet.
With an explosive bang, she shot forward with the speed of light.
It was obvious to everyone watching—in this deadly situation, Noelle was growing at a rapid, terrifying pace.
"MORE SLASHES!"
Leo instantly replied to the call, unleashing more than twenty Ki slashes that rocketed forward to collide with the barrier while more Ki-infused arrows from Lilly sped toward the center.
Now, the invisible field was torn between the multiple incoming attacks, forcing the crushing pressure on Noelle to recede.
Still, Selene’s whip was there, moving with predatory grace to intercept Noelle before she could close the final gap.
An arrow broke through the barrier, sending the whip veering to the side just long enough for Noelle to act.
She grabbed her own whip, swung it around to wrap it against her mother’s weapon, and then hurled it away with all her might.
All of this transpired in a mere two seconds.
And now, the distance was finally crossed.
The onslaught at this range was intense; without the protection of her own barrier, Noelle coughed out two mouthfuls of blood as her mobility was restricted by the sheer density of the air.
But she didn’t care. She only grinned at her motionless mother.
"So I was right, eh?" Noelle muttered as a surge of Ki flooded her hands.
"... Maintaining the barrier and moving at the same time is impossible for you, hence you got a sentient weapon protecting you."
Hearing her words, Selene’s eyes rolled downwards to stare at her daughter in front of her for the first time during the entire battle.
A smirk curved Noelle’s lips, bloody and defiant.
"Good. Because this is the LAST THING YOU WILL SEE! MY FACE!"

Noelle’s fist smashed into Selene’s abdomen with the concentrated strength of two bulls.
The force of the impact proceeded to lift the woman off her feet and hurl her several meters away into the debris.
