Magus Supremacy-Chapter 834: A Dismantling Mistress
Chapter 834
The crushing pressure suddenly reduced.
The barrier was nowhere to be seen or felt anymore, causing everyone to pause for a momentary heartbeat as they stared at Noelle’s battered back.
The girl was huffing and panting in ragged, shallow breaths while blood rolled down her body as freely as sweat.
Her clothes were barely hanging on at this point, shredded by the invisible blades.
Her face was now so thoroughly covered with crimson that the fluid was dripping into her eyes... or rather, her eye.
Through the red haze, it became clear that one of Noelle’s eye sockets was now missing its orb, leaving her with a singular, bloodshot eye—a horrific injury that had likely occurred during the barrier incident.
She was barely standing, appearing like someone who had been sliced in a hundred places by a master’s katana.
Her knees buckled, and with a final, weary sway, she landed on them before collapsing face-first onto her abdomen.
A small pool of blood began forming beneath her almost instantly.
Even though she had been evolving mid-fight, it was painfully obvious that she might not live long enough to enjoy the benefits of her growth.
Meanwhile, a few meters away.
"Ackk....."
Selene spat a mouthful of blood.
It wasn’t solely from the punch her daughter had dealt her, but from the immense strain of using her technique repeatedly.
Noelle had been right.
Her technique required her to remain rooted in place while her barrier dismantled anything that entered its range; she could not maintain the field and move simultaneously.
This was why, whenever she intended to take a step, she had to temporarily deactivate the technique before re-triggering it.
Why it functioned with such a limitation, she did not know.
It was this very flaw that had driven her to search for two years for a sentient weapon to complement her style—a quest that eventually led her to the whip she now wielded.
Crafted from the core of a rare beast she had hunted herself—a creature that only surfaced once every decade—she had obtained the perfect safeguard.
None of the other leaders knew of this specific vulnerability.
In fact, no one who had ever discovered it remained alive to tell the tale, as they were usually diced into ribbons before they could speak.
Under normal circumstances, her technique was a last resort—a hidden trump card.
And yet, not only had Noelle deciphered the mechanics, she had managed to bypass the barrier with the help of Leo and Lilly to deliver a punch that sent her reeling.
How?
With another ragged cough of blood, Selene rose to her feet with a visible stagger.
The others, however, were not about to squander the golden opportunity Noelle had provided.
Whether Selene could reactivate her technique or not, they didn’t intend to wait and find out.
Immediately, three Ki-infused arrows flew toward Selene at the speed of light.
The woman lightly tilted her head from side to side, dodging the projectiles with practiced ease, only for Leo to close the distance in a matter of seconds.
He arrived with a vicious swing of his slender sword. Selene was prepared to take the hit head-on when she felt a sudden distortion in the air.
Leo’s own version of the technique!
Hastily, Selene leaped to the side just in time as the ground where she had stood was precisely diced into stone dust.
As she landed, her foot shot toward his exposed flank with full force.
Before the strike could connect, Leo twirled, intercepting the kick with the flat of his blade.
Riiiiing—!
Unfortunately, the impact was too powerful.
A violent vibration coursed through his bones, and he was sent sliding backward, his heels digging deep trenches into the rugged terrain.
Reaching behind her back in a blur of motion, Selene caught two more arrows in her bare hands that had been whistling toward her head.
She spun around, intent on hurling them back at the archer, when she felt her ankles being seized.
Looking down, she saw Noelle’s pale, trembling fingers wrapping firmly around her legs.
The girl looked as though she were knocking on death’s door, her life force flickering.
However, her iron resolve to finish what she started kept her fingers clamped tight.
"Don’t touch me!" Selene hissed.
With a powerful kick, Selene sent Noelle’s body flying into the distance—far away from her.
Unfortunately for her, it was all a distraction.
Slash—!
Leo’s sword was inches away from her neck when she narrowly evaded by leaning her head backwards.
Even with her reflexes, the blade bit deep into her chest, drawing a jagged gash across her sternum with blood spraying into the air. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Ack..."
She staggered backwards, clutching the wound in sharp pain.
Leo panted in absolute exhaustion.
His face looked cadaverous at this point, the skin pulled tight over his bones.
From the initial start of the fight to the countless slashes of Ki unleashed, he was running on low fumes; if something wasn’t done soon, he would surely meet his end here.
Fury contorted Selene’s features as she prepared to strike back, but she suddenly felt her movement restricted once again.
Looking down, she saw a pair of arms wrapping around her in a desperate hug from behind.
Turning her head, she saw the figure in the dark robe, his face still hidden behind his hood.
Ash!
Before she could react, his pale, greenish fingers dug into her , causing her to let out a strangled moan of pain.
Blood dribbled down her mouth for a moment before she gnashed her teeth in defiance.
She swirled a torrent of Ki around her legs and, with a violent twist of her body, sent Ash flying.
He crashed into the earth in front of her, causing a wide fissure to spiderweb beneath him.
She was about to move to finish him off when a barrage of arrows kept her at bay, forcing her to leap backwards, bending and twisting in a frantic attempt to dodge the projectiles.
Leo appeared again, launching a sweeping slash from below, only for his arm to be caught in Selene’s iron grip.
In a brutal display of strength, he was instantly dismantled.
His sword fell, the guard of the slender, fencing-like blade tearing into the ground while the tip faced the heavens.
With a loud, sickening crack, Leo’s arm was roughly torn from his body before he was sent hurtling away, blood spraying from his lips.
Throwing the severed limb aside, Selene’s eyes landed on Lilly.
She was about to lunge when she suddenly stumbled.
Blood began pouring from her mouth in waves.
’Wh-What is going on? Why do I suddenly feel so weak? What did they do to me?’
Another cough of blood erupted, and she saw that the crimson fluid was stained a sickly green.
’Poison? That hug from earlier?’
Unfortunately, the realization came far too late.
Another pair of arrows whistled toward her, forcing her to flip backwards like an acrobat.
Landing back on her feet, her toes dug into the ground, cracking the stone massively.
It was clear as day; despite the toxin, she was determined to finish Lilly off.
Only for something to wrap around her legs again.
With a deep frown, she glanced down to see Noelle’s half-cracked whip curled tightly around her ankles.
Tracing her gaze forward, she saw Noelle standing on her feet with grim, unbreakable determination.
All the Ki the girl had left flooded into her hands and the weapon as blood began pouring down her chin.
"JUST GO TO HELL!" Noelle screamed.
One last, desperate barrier attack from Noelle’s whip tore through Selene’s ankles.
Her balance destroyed, Selene’s body went crashing forward, unable to stop her momentum.
And then...
TCHAKKK—!
She drove herself directly into Leo’s sword where it remained jutting out of the ground.
The slender blade passed through her head, bursting out the other end in a spray of gore.
