Chapter 237: MOTHER FIGURE

KIM HEEDO went home in a hurry because he was worried about Park Sohee.

Hyung isn’t picking up my call.

He had already called Kang Sul, his husband’s bodyguard, and Kang Sul assured him that Park Sohee was safe at home.

After that, he called the nannies.

Mrs. Go and Mrs. An informed me that the twins have finally had their first meal of the day. They also said that Sohee Hyung is just in the dining hall, eating.

That was a huge relief.

Even so, Heedo was still worried.

Hyung won’t ignore my calls on purpose.

Hence, as soon as he got home, he practically ran towards the dining hall— barely acknowledging the household staff members who greeted him.

And he was right to hurry.

Hyung?

Park Sohee was, indeed, having dinner in the dining hall.

However...

"Hyung, why are you crying?" Heedo asked worriedly, kneeling before his husband while looking up at him. "Are you hurt? Should we go to the hospital?"

Park Sohee looked down at him, and then he cried harder.

"Hyung..."

Heedo immediately stood up and pulled his husband into a hug.

Park Sohee wrapped his arms around his waist and buried his face against Heedo’s stomach— still crying.

His husband was crying so hard that his shoulders were shaking.

This is the first time in a while that I’ve seen Hyung cry like this.

"It’s alright, Hyung. Just cry. I’m here for you," Heedo said while gently running his fingers through Park Sohee’s hair in an attempt to soothe down his crying husband. "I’ll wait until you’re ready to tell me what’s making you sad."

A WARM bath with your hot husband is always a good solution.

Sohee could internally joke with himself now that he had calmed down.

After crying his heart out earlier, Kim Heedo gently ushered him to the bathroom.

And, now, they were soaked in the tub.

Warm water, fragrant bath bomb, pretty bubbles.

Sohee, who was sitting between Kim Heedo’s legs, leaned against his husband’s sturdy chest. The warm water and the warmth of Kim Heedo’s body made him feel like he was melting. In a good way, of course. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

This wasn’t the first time that they took a bath together.

But the feeling was still the same— still melt-worthy.

"Have you calmed down, Hyung?" Kim Heedo asked, kissing his nape. "Can you tell me who made you cry?"

"And what are you going to do to that person?"

"I’m just going to have a long conversation with them until they cry more tears than you had shed."

Pfft.

So overprotective.

"Heedo-ya, you know that Go Gunjoon paid us a visit earlier, right?"

"Was it Go Gunjoon?"

"Yah. Of course not."

"Oh, I see," Kim Heedo said, kissing Sohee’s nape as if he were apologizing for thinking that Go Gunjoon made him cry. "Yeah, you told me this morning that Go Gunjoon would visit today."

"He brought the egg and tofu porridge that I had for dinner," Sohee explained. "That’s also the porridge that Woochul and Woosung had for their first meal today. The twins really liked it."

"Really? Can you ask your brother what store he brought the porridge from? Our babies might crave them again later."

"The porridge was cooked by Go Gunjoon’s mother."

"Oh... then Hyung’s eomma... the twins’ grandma..."

"Yes, that person," Sohee said, nodding. "Apparently, it was also my favorite dish when I was a toddler. I only remembered when I had a taste of it earlier."

"Is that why you cried, Hyung? From nostalgia?"

"I kind of missed my eomma."

Kim Heedo suddenly hugged Sohee tighter, pulling him closer to his body. "Hyung, you can always invite your mother here. I know you already decided to cut her off from your life. But please know that you’re allowed to change your mind."

Aigoo.

When did this brat grow up?

"To be honest, the thought crossed my mind," Sohee said, sighing. "But, in the end, I decided that I like the distance between my mother and I. Plus, I don’t think I’d like to introduce her to our sons. Not now, at least."

"May I know why not?"

"We’ve already confirmed that Woochul and Woosung have a Secondary Gender. But we don’t know yet what exactly their Secondary Gender would be. Dr. Seong said that there’s a high chance that one of the twins might manifest as an Omega since I’m a Dominant Omega."

To be fair, Dr. Seong Kyungmin also clarified that it was just his educated guess.

After all, this was the first time the doctor had seen one-year-old babies developing pheromones already.

But I trust Dr. Seong’s judgement.

"If I let my mother into our twins’ lives, there’s a chance that she might be fond of them since our babies are lovely," Sohee said, and then he started to get anxious. "But what will happen if Woochul or Woosung manifests as an Omega? What if my mother rejects them the way he rejected me for my Secondary Gender? I don’t want her to hurt my children the way she had hurt me in the past."

To be fair, Sohee knew that his mother abandoned him because she couldn’t afford to raise an Omega.

His mother wasn’t financially, mentally, and emotionally prepared at the time.

That wouldn’t be a problem now because Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung belonged to one of the richest families in the country.

Hence, his mother wouldn’t have to worry about how to protect her grandchildren.

Even so, he still wasn’t comfortable with the idea of introducing his mother to the twins.

"Am I being too cold-hearted, Heedo-ya?" Sohee asked worriedly. "I’m aware that the situation is different now. Plus, people change. Maybe my mother has already the way I did. Even so, I don’t want to risk it."

"Hyung, it’s up to you whether you want your mother to be involved in our twins’ lives. I’ll support you either way."

"Thank you."

"But are you really okay with this, Hyung?" Kim Heedo asked carefully. "You said you miss your mother."

"I miss the woman who was a mother to me— not the woman who abandoned me because she realized she wasn’t ready to raise an Omega," Sohee said. It still brought a pang in his heart. However, it didn’t hurt as much as it did before. Moreover... "I’ve already found the person I can call a mother."

***

"OH, you’re awake? You should sleep in since you don’t have classes today."

Sohee smiled at the precious guest they had that early morning. "How can I not get up and greet you, Mother-in-law?"

Yes, the precious guest was President Kang Nari.

"Did you bring food for the twins, Mother-in-law?" Sohee asked while looking at the stuff that his mother-in-law had put on the kitchen island. "Fortunately, the twins’ appetite is back. I’m sure they’ll love the food you brought for them."

"Most of the food here is for you, Sohee-ya."

"For me? But I’m not sick..."

"Do you have to be sick for me to feed you?" President Kang Nari asked teasingly. "You worked hard taking care of your sick babies, Heedo-ya. Come here. Let me feed you."

Aigoo.

Sohee was suddenly overwhelmed by the warm feeling in his chest.

He really lucked out with his in-laws.

I wanna cry.

However, that wasn’t really what he wanted to do.

"Mother-in-law, can I hug you?"

President Kang Nari looked surprised by Sohee’s request at first, but only for a moment. She then smiled and opened her arms.

"Come here, you big baby."

Sohee smiled, and then he shyly hugged his mother-in-law.

Then President Kang Nari hugged him back tightly.

That was one of the warmest hugs he ever had.

Ah, my mother-in-law is truly my mother now.
