Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 440: The Birth of the Second Child (2)_1
Chapter 440: Chapter 440: The Birth of the Second Child (2)_1
Because the baby was born with a minor illness, Ji Yunhuan only got discharged from the hospital ten days later.
During the hospital stay, the expenses added up to quite a substantial amount.
However, there was no trace of distress on his face.
The weather was very cold. Coming back from the hospital, Qi Cheng parked the car directly in the garage, carried the baby out of the car, and Ji Yunhuan followed behind him, her hat on, her entire face hidden.
Back in the living room, Qi Cheng asked the servant to retrieve the items from the car. Although they had left the Qi Family, Ji Yunhuan’s life had not changed much; Qi Cheng still provided the best for her in everything.
Ji Yunhuan sat down on the sofa, saying to Qi Cheng, "Give me the baby, let me hold him."
Qi Cheng handed the baby to her. "You sit here. I’ll go get the things from the car."
Although they had only been hospitalized for a few days, they had a lot of things, and with only one servant, it was impossible to bring everything at once. Qi Cheng quickly left the living room, and Ji Yunhuan watched his back, feeling a bit sorry for him.
When Yangyang was born, the whole family was busy taking care of them, and at that time, Qi Cheng’s entire heart was focused on her.
Most of the servants had been dismissed, leaving only one, and with no family around, Qi Cheng had to handle everything personally. Even for giving birth in the hospital, he ran back and forth by himself. This time, unlike before, there were no top-tier hospital rooms prepared for them. Qi Cheng had to seek connections for everything.
Fortunately, Ji Yunhuan had a smooth delivery, with no complications, and though the baby had some minor health issues after birth, everything was fine now.
Still, it was hard on Qi Cheng.
Qi Cheng and the servant soon brought in the items from the car. Ji Yunhuan saw Qi Cheng busy back and forth and said, "Qi Cheng, you should rest for a while. Just leave the things there, no need to rush to sort them out."
Qi Cheng thought the same. He walked over, looking at Ji Yunhuan, the baby in her arms, his little face flushed and adorable.
Since he was born just over a week ago, he seemed to change every day.
Qi Cheng sat down, saying to Ji Yunhuan, "Do you want me to hold him?"
"No need, I’ll hold him." She had been holding the baby on the way back, and Qi Cheng, understanding her efforts, did not insist. But while she was merely holding the baby, Qi Cheng had to manage so many other tasks, clearly enduring much more hardship.
They had already eaten before coming back, so they didn’t ask the servant to cook. Qi Cheng went upstairs to turn on the heater and make the room comfortable, then came downstairs to take the baby from Ji Yunhuan’s arms. "Let me hold him. You should rest in the room."
She had just given birth, and he didn’t want her to be too tired.
Ji Yunhuan followed Qi Cheng upstairs.
By the bed was a crib, and Qi Cheng placed the baby inside, letting Ji Yunhuan sit on the bed.
"You should rest awhile, too." Ji Yunhuan held his hand, "Sit down and rest. I know you’re very tired."
"Me, tired?" Qi Cheng looked at her gently, his large hands wrapping around hers. "You gave birth to two babies for me; you are the one who worked the hardest."
"It’s been so many days now, and you haven’t let me do anything. I’m not tired at all." Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng. "Qi Cheng, I really feel sorry for you. If it were like before, you wouldn’t have needed to do all these things yourself."
With servants helping, she wouldn’t have to worry.
But this time, Qi Cheng managed everything himself, with only the one servant left. They had no relatives around to lend a hand.
Qi Cheng smiled, "I’m happy to serve you personally."
"I feel sorry for you."
"Yunhuan, I am a man; it’s my job to handle it all. Other men do the same."
"But..."
Before she could finish her sentence, he lowered his head and gently kissed her forehead. "Baby, don’t worry about me. You just had a baby. I certainly need to take care of you. You’re not suggesting I leave you alone, are you?"
Ji Yunhuan hugged him. "Thank you, hubby. I’ll make it up to you later."
Once she completed her postpartum confinement, she could share many responsibilities with him. Always being the one taken care of, she could hardly stand herself.
"Make it up?" Hearing this, Qi Cheng brightened up, "Then you better take good care of yourself, don’t leave behind any health issues. That would last a lifetime."
"Yes, yes." Even if she wanted to help him now, it would probably just make things worse.
Qi Cheng took a shower and came out. Ji Yunhuan had already lain down, holding the baby next to her, who was sound asleep.
Having previously taken care of Yangyang, even without servants around, the two of them didn’t get flustered.
Qi Cheng climbed into bed, looked at her and the baby, "Should we put the baby in the crib?"
"No need, I’ll watch over him." She hadn’t spent enough time caring for Yangyang previously. Now she just wanted to be a competent mother. Glancing at Qi Cheng, Ji Yunhuan tried to reassure him. "You don’t have to worry about me. Go ahead and sleep. I’ll watch over him; nothing will happen."
Since they were back home, she naturally would take good care of the baby.
Qi Cheng nodded, "I know."
But seeing that Ji Yunhuan wasn’t sleeping, he didn’t sleep immediately either. To help him sleep comfortably, Ji Yunhuan dimmed the lights a bit.
In the early morning, Ji Yunhuan was awakened by the sound of the baby crying. She opened her eyes to find that Qi Cheng had already taken their son.
"Crying?" Ji Yunhuan asked.
"He wet himself. You go back to sleep, don’t worry." He knew Ji Yunhuan had stayed up all night watching the baby; otherwise, he wouldn’t have slept so soundly. Thinking of this, he felt more guilt, not wanting to disturb her, hoping she could sleep a while longer.
Qi Cheng took the baby to the bathroom, cleaned him up, and brought him back, placing him beside Ji Yunhuan.
Qi Cheng said to Ji Yunhuan, "You get some rest. I’ll go downstairs and take a look."
"It’s still early."
"It’s okay. I can’t sleep anyway."
As soon as Qi Cheng went downstairs, the servant handed him a list. "Sir, these are the items Madam bought during her hospital stay."
Qi Cheng took a glance, his gaze deepening. "I see."
To provide well for Ji Yunhuan, they’d already been trying to save on their food and clothing. But with no income, slowly things would become tight.
Qi Cheng went upstairs, opened the box. Besides the items sold last time, there were still some things left. He thought he wouldn’t have to sell them, but now...
"Qi Cheng." At this moment, Ji Yunhuan woke up, wearing her pajamas, climbing out of the bed.
He saw her and said, "Go back to sleep."
"I’m not sleeping. I’ve slept enough." She walked to his side, looking at him, "What are you looking for?"
"Nothing."
Ji Yunhuan looked at his face, guessing he was thinking of selling items again. "These things, you always need to use them. You can’t sell them anymore."
