Chapter 342: Gabriel’s helpless state

Gabriel wanted to laugh. It was the woman he wanted to marry and give all his properties to her and the baby in her womb, thinking she was carrying his child. However, the truth had shattered his dream and his plan.

Tania had approached him to exact revenge, not out of love. That child she was carrying wasn’t his. And now she wanted everything he had.

’This is ridiculous,’ a voice in his head whispered.

But he had no choice. In this state, he could only think about how to survive and find a way to get out of there.

"How would I trust?" Gabriel sneered. "You are not pregnant with my child. After you get everything, what is the point for you to keep me around? You already poisoned me. I am like this now. I don’t even know how long I’ll survive. Why would I listen to you and fulfil your demands?"

Tania’s expression changed. She had thought a selfish man like Gabriel would easily agree to her as long as she threatened him. But he was retaliating. He was not even caring about his life as if he had already accepted his fate.

It was frustrating.

Tania understood it was useless to threaten him to hurt him. This man had already lost the fear of death.

’I need to change the strategy,’ she thought.

"Fine, don’t sign it. But let me tell you a secret." She leaned forward and hissed, "My boyfriend, Vlad, isn’t an ordinary guy. He is the head of the Black Pearl Gang. If he wants, he can destroy the whole Beaumont family in a snap. You have already caused so much destruction to the family. Can you see Denis crumble into dust?"

Gabriel’s heart shook at the name Black Pearl. It was the biggest land mafia racket in town. He remembered the problems that the gang had caused when they started the model city project under the Sphere Group. They had to pay a hefty amount of money to the gang to get the land free from their grasp and let them work there without an issue.

But now Vlad against the Beaumonts could raise problems for the project and also for Denis.

’No, I can’t let Denis fall into further danger,’ he thought. ’I have to find a way to warn him.’

The rumors said the leader was very cruel, and Gabriel had seen him with his own eyes.

Vlad looked really dangerous. When Gabriel thought about those grey eyes, he couldn’t help but shudder. But still, he couldn’t fulfil her demands.

Hiding his fear, he scoffed scornfully, "So what if your boyfriend is the head of Black Pearl? He is a criminal. Sooner or later, the police will nab him. And Denis is not as weak as you think. Both Augustine and Denis are enough to expose you and defeat your criminal boyfriend."

"Shut up," Tania roared, losing her patience. She raised her hand and delivered a slap at him.

Gabriel’s face twisted into a raw anger. No one had ever dared to lay a hand on him. But because of his own stupidity, he was now in this helpless state. Even a woman like her could bully him, hit him, and threaten him. And he, the once proud Gabriel Beaumont, lay there in a helpless state, not even able to move without someone else’s assistance.

It was so humiliating. At the same time, it was frustrating.

"You are now at my mercy." Tania leaned forward and squeezed his jaw. "So you should behave. Don’t make me angry. Or you will regret it."

Gabriel was weak, but this weakness only made his determination stronger. He laughed sarcastically, pushing her hand away. "Regret? Yes, I regret ever falling for your lies. I regret liking you and deceiving the woman I’ve been with for nearly three decades. I regret trusting you over my family. And I regret pushing Denis away – the son I raised for so many years."

His mouth twisted into a sneer. "I did so many bad deeds just to have my own son. But I forgot that I already had one who trusted me, devoted to me. Because of my selfishness, I lost my family. I am completely ruined. Even if I die now, I won’t be sad. But I’ll regret not being able to see your downfall."

"You..." Tania’s whole body trembled in rage. "Seems like you still don’t understand what kind of danger you are in. I won’t let you die. But I’ll make your life miserable."

She clasped her fingers around his throat and strangled him. Grabiel tried to push her away, but her grip only tightened. His already weak muscles trembled in protest, his lungs aching.

"You think if you don’t sign the documents, I can’t get what I want?" she sneered. "We can force you to give everything to me."

Gabriel’s eyes widened in horror. ’What is she going to do now?’

"Vlad," Tania shouted.

Vlad stormed into the room.

"Hold him tight for me," she demanded.

Vlad followed her words without delay and pinned him against the bed. His force was brutal, his hands pressing on Gabriel’s shoulders.

Gabriel couldn’t move, his strength seeping away quickly. He had an impression that his bones were about to crush. "What are you doing?" he yelled desperately when he saw Tania grabbing a knife from the side table.

Every cell of his body screamed at him to break free and run, but he couldn’t move.

With a menacing smile on her face, she approached. "You said you wouldn’t sign the documents. Now I want to see how you can defy me."

As soon as she finished speaking, she grabbed his thumb and sliced it with the knife.

"Uh..." A cry tore open Gabriel’s mouth instantly, blood trickling down his finger.

Tania didn’t waste time. Picking up the file, she pressed his thumb at the place where his signature was needed. She laughed loudly.

Vlad finally released Gabriel and pulled Tania flush to his chest, crashing his lips against hers. The file dropped from her grip as she coiled her arms around him and drew him in closer as she kissed him back with equal fervor.

Gabriel gritted his teeth; his heart burned with anger and shame. This was the woman for whom he had gone against his family, destroying his marriage. Tania didn’t hesitate to display her intimacy with another man in front of him.

How blind he was!

He clasped the bedspread tightly.

Tania enjoyed kissing Vlad in front of Gabriel. She had never felt so thrilled before. She glanced at him through the corners of her eyes and saw Gabriel’s flustered look. It only added to her excitement.

Vlad was one step ahead. He pressed her against the wall and deepened the kiss. Lifting her one leg, he leaned in closer to her.

Tania gasped as he pressed his lips on her neck, her gaze moving to Gabriel. She quirked her lips. Instead of stopping him, she pulled him in closer, enjoying it. But the sharp ringing of his phone interrupted them.

Vlad pulled back, his eyebrows pulling together in frustration. He pulled his phone out, only to see the number of his guard. "What the hell happened?" he growled. "Why are you disturbing me?"

"Sorry, boss. But Denis Beaumont is here, demanding to see his father."

Vlad turned his eyes to Tania. "Denis is here."

"Oh?"

When Gabriel heard the name, he grew restless. He wanted to rush to him and ask for help. But at the same time, he was worried Tania and Vlad would hurt him.

"What to do, boss?" The guard’s voice came through the phone. "Shall I drive him away?"

Tania took the phone from Vlad and issued a command. "Send him in. Let me see what he has to say."

She ended the call and smirked.

Gabriel grew excited at the prospect of seeing Denis. ’Maybe I’ll get a chance to escape.’

But that excitement didn’t last long. "Don’t even think about telling Denis anything," Tania’s warning tone dangled on his head like a sword. "If you say something that raises his suspicion, he will be shot dead."

Gabriel’s face paled in fear. "You are threatening me! This is ridiculous. I am lying here, can’t even move my legs. Do you think he won’t notice it? He will suspect you have done something to me. I don’t have to say a word."

Tania snorted. "You still don’t understand, do you? Gabriel, no one is going to help you. And no one will suspect you are in danger. Everyone will believe you have married me and are living a happy life with me. Denis will hate you to the core. He will never look for you after this meeting."

She took a step closer to him. "And you have to ensure this. Or he will be dead – right here, right now."

"No, no..." Gabriel shook his head. He had committed many sins. He couldn’t let these people kill Denis. His bravado crumbled, his confidence receding.

Casting a pleading look at Tania, he said, "Don’t hurt him. Please."

"As long as you send him away, I promise he won’t die today," Tania said.
