Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 198: Limitless
It was midnight, but the mansion was as bright as day, giving Sage the impression that she hadn’t been unconscious for nearly the entire day. It was all very peaceful, but Sage could feel her heart thumping nervously knowing she was going to see Katherine.
Why was she so tense? What on earth was she worried about?
She took a deep breath to calm herself, then turned to face Cyrus, who was staring at her. "Calm down," those darkly glimmered eyes were telling her. And she gave him a faint smile before turning away.
They arrived at the hallway opposite there’s in no time, walking side by side while holding hands and not saying anything to each other.
Sage felt more at ease, but a large part of her hoped Katherine would not pose a threat to her or the other mages. She had to be worried... she wanted to rebuild Credia with her friend.
A lot had changed since the moment she laid eyes on Cyrus in that frozen lake, or was it since the moment she laid eyes on him as a child?
Credia’s demise was something she had wished to avoid for as long as she could remember, but everything she had done to protect her had been in vain. She had been fighting with the fire dragons, who were obsessed with destroying Credia, and she had spent her entire life believing that the fire dragons were her only foes, not realizing that the Statkus mages existed, and honestly, the Statkus mages were far scarier.
She smiled faintly, tightening her grip on Cyrus’ hand, which was linked to hers as if he would never let her go.
She wasn’t afraid because of him, even when she should have been.
The thought of him killing her on his birthday did not make her heart skip a beat, nor did she feel a tingle of fear; instead, she wished for him to kill her rather than those Statkus mages.
Cyrus abruptly came to a halt, catching Sage off guard and jolting her out of her reverie. She looked at him with widened eyes, his neutral expression causing her to raise her brow.
’Why?’ She inquired via their mind link.
"We have arrived." Cyrus smirked, and Sage turned her gaze away from him to see that they were standing in front of a beautiful carved door.
"Oh." Sage laughed and shook her head, chastising herself for delving too deeply into her thoughts.
’Did Cyrus hear everything I was thinking?’ she wondered as she raised her hand to knock on the door.
"Most of it," Cyrus said quietly, before gently knocking on the door.
Sage pursed her lips and looked at him, who was teasingly smiling at her. "It feels like my privacy has vanished."
"I am surprised you don’t have any lewd thoughts about me right now. Sigh." Cyrus feigned sadness, and Sage burst out laughing.
"Focus." She giggled.
Cyrus placed his fingers on her cheek and slowly traced them down to her neck. "Oh, love, I can’t." He hissed, staring at her with those intoxicating blue slits that spilled desire.
His touch sparked the fire he’d been igniting lately. Her heart skipped a beat as his inviting lips parted, and as his cold fingers settled at the side of her neck, right where he had bitten her, she released a shaky breath as that fire erupted even more.
"I adore how my touch affects you." He leaned in close to her, whispering. "I told you that even your breathing causes me to lose my mind..." He trailed off, his voice husky, and his eyes sparkling with desire.
Sage could sense his desire for her. It felt limitless... And she felt the same way probably even worse.
"Sage," he called soothingly, and the way he called her name gave her goosebumps. A dimpled smile spread across his lips as he moved his hand away from her neck, resting his palm on her cheek and slowly carressing her.
Sage’s eyes glowed with excitement. "Yes?" Then she closed her eyes and relaxed against his large cold palm.
"Will you accompany me to Videnia?" He asked abruptly, and her eyes fluttered open, flickering in confusion because it was the first time she heard that.
"Videnia?"
"Yes." He nodded, his smile still on his lips.
"Alright." Sage reciprocated the smile. He mentioned Videnia almost identically to how he mentioned her name, implying that it was a special place to him.
"I appreciate it." He whispered and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
Her smile brightened as his lips touched her brow, and she closed her eyes unconsciously.
The door suddenly opened, revealing a startled-looking Katherine who appeared to have just woken up from a deep sleep.
Her expression changed from stunned to a smile when she realized that the couple in front of her didn’t notice her presence. Sage’s radiant smile made her heart leap with joy.
"Katherine?" A deep, familiar voice called from behind her.
"Huh?" Katherine turned to look around the room.
Hmm?" While still holding Sage’s hand, Cyrus withdrew from her and turned to look at Katherine, who was still scanning the space.
His aura became harshly cold, and it was as if a force blasted out of him, blowing through the room like the wind.
Katherine slowly turned her gaze to Cyrus, who was now wearing a flat expression but his blue slit eyes were narrowed to her like a beast preparing to rip her into shreds.
Katherine was immediately overcome with fear and was unable to look away.
Sage sensed Cyrus’ hostility towards Katherine, and when she noticed Katherine’s fear, she shook Cyrus’ arm, directing his attention to her and glaring at him.
’Do not frighten her!’ she mind linked as she frowned at him.
Cyrus’ lips twitched and he returned his gaze to Katherine, who sighed deeply, but his gaze was drawn immediately to River, who was standing behind her with a deep frown.
"Do not frighten her." He snarled at Cyrus.
"I make no such promises." Cyrus spoke calmly.
"Cyrus," Sage seethed in an intimidating tone, causing him to sigh in frustration.
River’s frown vanished, replaced by an amused expression, while Katherine looked stunned.
