Chapter 211: Memories of friendship 6

River screamed when he saw this. "Ophelia!" Then he charged at Cyrus, punching him hard on the cheek, but the dark mist around Cyrus blasted him again, knocking him to the ground.

When Ashton saw Ophelia, he stopped fighting Esteban. His large dark angel wings appeared, which he flapped powerfully lifting himself off the ground. He caught her, cradled her little frame in her arms, and sighed as he saw how she was covered in bruises, which had gotten worse as she had taken a blow for her brother.

Ashton looked down to see Cyrus standing in front of River, who was struggling to stand on his own. He noticed Cyrus’ eyes, one of which was in demon form and the other with a blue slit.

"That’s never happened before," River grumbled, squinting his eyes.

Cyrus walked slowly towards River, who finally stood up panting heavily.

Ashton’s eyes widened in surprise. "He’s going insane!" He was ecstatic.

Cyrus’ dark and demonic states were never meant to coexist. Their union would transform him into a mindless beast resembling a dragon with a black heart.

He was beginning to become unstable.

Who knew a poison could have such an effect? Except... He was also triggered by his negative emotions, which had accumulated as a result of River’s departure from Antica.

Ashton flew to Esteban and glared at the terrified man staring at Cyrus.

"Transform and return them home." Ashton hissed at him.

Esteban moved his gaze to Ashton and nodded slowly before transforming into his dragon form and lifting himself above the ground. Ashton immediately threw Ophelia, allowing Esteban to carry her in one of his hands.

Cyrus was oozing an uncontrollable amount of darkness.

Ashton appeared next to River and stared at Cyrus. "Stop it."

"Hm?" Cyrus raised an eyebrow, his gaze fixed on River.

"I am going to kill him!" He harmed my sister!" River yelled, and Ashton could hear pain in his voice.

"He’s not in his right state of mind, little one," Ashton sighed and looked at River.

"What?" River’s pupils dilated as he gazed at the demon.

"Cyrus is still in there, and I invite you to return whenever you want to play with him." Ashton spoke quietly.

"No! He should keep his distance! He despises me now!" Cyrus yelled.

Ashton sighed and shifted his gaze to Cyrus, then dashed behind him and smacked him on the neck.

River stood there watching Cyrus go completely still. He noticed those eyes change into blue slits and sharpen dangerously before closing up.

He exhaled deeply. "Draco."

Ashton laughed, his wings disappeared, and he carried Cyrus in his arms, allowing his head to rest on his shoulder.

"Did you call him Draco just now?" River nodded slowly, while Ashton laughed.

"He injured Ophelia," River explained slowly.

"There is more to this arrogant kid here, and you will understand if you want to be his friend." River, who had his lips pursed, was informed by Ashton.

"Cyrus is my friend, not Draco." He muttered.

"His dark and demonic state is still Cyrus, little River." Ashton smirked.

"No! He is something different. He’s sick... like a virus." River spoke up, refusing to believe that his mindless side was still his friend Cyrus.

"All right, think whatever you want." Ashton laughed.

"I’ll be back." River sighed and lowered his head. "However, I will never forgive Draco for hurting my sister." He lifted his head, and his golden reptile-like eyes narrowed, eliciting a deep laugh from Ashton.

At that moment, Esteban roared, carried River and flew into the grey sky.

The remaining Firerian dragons who were still alive followed him, and Ashton saw a lot of dragons dead on the battlefield. The minority of them were killed by fighting, but the majority were shredded into pieces, blood splattered everywhere.

Ashton let out a long sigh.

It was the work of the dark mist emanating from Cyrus.

.

Over the following few years, River kept going back to Antica, and even though Cyrus was once again trapped in his dark state, River made an effort to get to know him because every so often, Cyrus would transform back into his normal state.

But for two years, Cyrus ruled Antica primarily in his demonic form as a tyrant who lived off of terror, carnage, and blood.

When Cyrus was acting out of control, Ashton prevented River from visiting Antica because he couldn’t control Cyrus himself until the portal elves decided to intervene.

.

Cyrus, who now appeared to be at least eighteen years old, was seated at the stairwell leading to his throne, staring at a certain nonchalantly looking black nine tailed fox with fierce black demon eyes identical to Cyrus’.

Two white demon panthers slept silently on the left and right sides of this throne.

This stare-down lasted a long time until the nine-tailed fox finally blinked.

"I’m not going to call you weak." Cyrus smiled and chewed his lower lip before picking up the nine-tailed fox and placing him on his lap.

He narrowed his eyes as he saw Sergio walk into the throne room, terrified and trying to hide it on his face.

Cyrus smiled, enjoying the fact that he had failed miserably.

Sergio approached and lowered his head. "Sire, the portal elves have arrived." He informed.

"Where has Ashton gone?" Cyrus asked, his voice eerily calm, and began to stroke the nine-tailed fox’s fur.

"He um.. went to the brothel." Sergio replied nervously.

"I’m sorry, but I killed all of the elders and advisers." Cyrus muttered, his face devoid of regret or guilt.

"Well, they all t..ried to k..ill you," Sergio said, his voice shaking.

"Please inform them that I will see them tonight." Sergio bowed once more as Cyrus sighed then dashed out of the throne room.

Cyrus looked back at the nine-tailed fox. "What do you think they’re here for?"

"Draco!" River’s voice shook the throne room.
