Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 230: Rightful home
The temperature dropped unexpectedly, and the cold was so intense that even the statkus mages became distracted. The wind became harsher, the darkness thickened, and heavy snow began to fall from the horrifyingly angry clouds.
River was too shocked to feel the threatening cold that was being activated by Cyrus. The world seemed to have stopped and he was alone in complete darkness. His eyes sharpened into their golden reptile-like form, sharpening with murderous intensity, and he immediately transformed into his dragon form, flapped his powerful wings, and lifted off from the ground, roaring with extreme rage that everyone present could feel.
Meanwhile, Cyrus’ eyes were completely black in their demon form before he vanished without a word.
Darren, who had been watching everything, froze in shock, unable to process it all at once. His body trembled as he tried to convince himself that his best friends had not vanished from his sight, but he was only dreaming.
Feeling the intensity of the cold, Darren wrapped his arms around his body, fearing he would freeze to death.
His gaze was drawn to the sky, where River was unleashing raging golden fire from his mouth without remorse on the remaining statkus mages. He was afraid that the innocent mages were among them, but hearing only pain shrieks from the statkus mages calmed him down.
He couldn’t quite understand Cyrus and River. Just seeing their lovers vanish in front of them turned them into raging beasts. It was terrifying because it was obvious that they couldn’t see the light any longer.
He swallowed, remembering Cyrus’ eyes turning to the exact type of demon who would clear every impediment on his part without any emotions, and River unleashing his golden fire with such mindlessness that it gave him chills.
"Why did they suddenly vanish?" he asked slowly, moving towards where Sage and Katherine had stood before they vanished.
A drop of thick blood and a faint glow of ice blue twinkled in that thick blood.
Darren let out a long sigh. "I have no control over this. They had to be summoned." He hoped it wasn’t to the land of the sea of blood or the statkus portal, but he couldn’t help but wonder why Katherine had been abducted as well.
"Darren!" Roselle’s panicked call drew his attention to her, Jovan, Alistair, and Lohan. They were all covered in bruises, indicating that they had engaged in the battle.
"Where has Kion gone?" Darren immediately asked, recalling Katherine’s question about her mother.
"In the forest, he and the other mages are safe." Jovan panted in response.
Alistair approached him and put his hand on his shoulder. "We have been looking everywhere for you." He said, concerned, and Darren couldn’t help but scoff.
"Are your parents safe?" Darren inquired, returning the care they were showing to him.
"Yes, everyone is safe, but we lost a lot." Lohan responded with a deep sigh.
"We should leave now. All by himself, that golden dragon is ruthlessly killing all those repulsive creatures. He might mistake us for one of them because he doesn’t appear to be thinking at all." Roselle spoke up immediately, her gaze fixed tensely on the black dragon, which appeared to have a few golden scales visible.
"Alright." Darren gave a nod.
...
Cyrus returned to the forest, which was devoid of snow. His eyes were fixed on the glowing water in their demon form, but it didn’t reflect in his eyes as it should.
Whoever had taken Sage was naive to believe he wouldn’t find her. They were soulbonded, and he would find her even if he wasn’t soulbonded to her.
His demonic state was currently attempting to gain control of his anger and unleash it. He gritted his teeth, rubbed his brow, and inhaled deeply as his eyes returned to their blue slit form. He could feel her close, but she was still far away, which is why he couldn’t read her thoughts.
Finally, the water’s gleam began to reflect in his eyes. His heartbeat was in sync with Sage’s. She was calm, but it felt forced because she didn’t want him to go insane. It was something she couldn’t easily conceal from him. He could feel her suppressed emotions just as she could feel his. She’d always been easy to read, but he realized the soulbond would be extremely useful because she’d be able to read him. No matter how hard he tried to keep his emotions in check.
He was being watched from the trees behind him, but he stood, unbothered.
"Come on out." He let out a sigh and put his hands in his coat pocket.
"As usual, you’re astute." Behind him, a deep, amused laugh could be heard.
"It hurts sometimes." Cyrus grumbled and turned to face Anghel, whose bright smile made Cyrus frown. "Your head will be up next." His threat was firm, but Anghel’s smile remained unwavering.
"I want to go into Videnia, or else I’ll kill the queen and that water mage." Anghel made a threat.
"You will not enter Videnia, you will not touch a hair on my wife, and I will not be the one you will face if you in any way harm the water mage." Cyrus spoke casually, but the cold oozing from him revealed his deep rage.
Anghel’s smile faded. "I’m hoping that piece of her soul will bring her back completely." He mumbled.
"You’re deluding yourself. If you really want to talk to her, she will come to you willingly, but she isn’t coming to you because she knows you’ll hurt her." Cyrus growled, and Anghel smiled again.
"My brothers dispatched the statkus mages. They are enraged that you broke the seal on me and wish to harm the mages in order to harm their queen, but they should be aware that the queen has her own demons, and you, Cyrus Dragos, are one of them."
Cyrus shook his head, causing the strands on his face to fall backwards. "I’m sorry, but I don’t have time for this. I want my wife. NOW!" He thundered impatiently.
"You won’t trust me after this." Anghel erupted in laughter.
"You talk too much and don’t think enough." Cyrus hissed angrily at the dumb god. "I despise repeating myself."
Anghel clenched his teeth. "I want to bring my sister back! I only want to hear her voice once! How did she give birth to such an arrogant being as you?" He grumbled, but Cyrus only saw him as pitiful.
If he was someone she could trust, his mother would have appeared to him. He was clearly a moron. Cyrus was irritated because Sage saw him as someone who could protect him.
"My. Wife." Cyrus’ voice came out firm and unstable, indicating that he was about to snap.
He couldn’t believe the foolish ice god had driven him away from the battle for such a silly request.
"I’m not going to let you into Videnia until you prove your worth." With a deep growl, he added.
Anghel laughed. "Your birthday is in a week, dear Cyrus, and you are going to murder your wife very soon, very soon." He then laughed heartily in delight. "Come to think of it, a big storm is coming that will take a lot of precious lives, don’t you think?"
Even though the god’s words had an effect on Cyrus, he remained silent.
Anghel waved his hand, and Sage and Katherine appeared in front of Cyrus, stunned and relieved.
"Dumbass!" Katherine abruptly snapped at Anghel, whose eyes widened slightly.
Sage smiled and moved her gaze to Cyrus before sprinting up to him and tightly hugging him.
Cyrus returned the hug and turned his gaze to Katherine. "Go meet River before he starts killing innocent people." He told her, and she nodded and then vanished from view.
Cyrus closed his eyes and hugged Sage tightly, relieved that she was fine. He ignored the thick blood on her clothes. It stained both his and Katherine’s clothes.
"I’m fine," she said, sighing.
"I know,"
Anghel watched the couple hug as if they hadn’t seen each other in years. It was an extremely warm sight, and he immediately felt the temperature drop, indicating that Cyrus had calmed down. They were madly in love with one another. He could see how terrified they were of losing each other, and a large part of him felt guilty for suddenly abducting Sage.
"What is the connection between the ice gods and the land of the sea of blood?" Sage abruptly inquired of Anghel. She and Cyrus drew away from each other, staring at the ice god, who had his gaze fixed on them.
"In the books, the land of the sea of blood appears to be hell for mages, but it is actually a cursed realm and It is the rightful home of the mages which was cursed by a powerful mage millions of years ago." Sage’s eyes widened as Anghel revealed.
"It is the mages rightful home? Who placed the curse?" Sage was taken aback.
"Ioas, the most powerful fire mage that ever lived. He was also referred to as "the most powerful mage." Anghel replied calmly.
Sage let out a long sigh. "How come I have such a strong connection to that place? It can’t be because of the Ioas flare in me, I was summoned there before I was given the flare." She muttered.
"The person summoning you must be an ancestor or a relative clo..."
"Just like my mother!" Sage gasped and Anghel narrowed his eyes at her, full of curiosity.
