Chapter 52: Burglar

What was Olivia doing here?

Olivia had went to meet with Leo’s family as instructed by Axel. Leo was more than surprised to see her here. What other strings is this woman going to pull?

He thought that after that day, she would come to him again but instead she decided to go to his parents.

His eyes glared down at her.

"From your expression, you must definitely know her," his mother started.

"What are you here for?!" Leo directed to Olivia.

"She came to tell us how you want to escape your responsibilities, Leo. We never raised you to be such!" his father said this time.

"Is it true that she’s carrying your child?" his mother asked.

"For all I know she might be carrying another man’s child or maybe she really isn’t pregnant," Leo answered.

"I am pregnant and you’re responsible. You know I was a virgin when you slept with me and I haven’t been with any other man. If you want, to avoid issues of forgery, I can go to any hospital you want.

"We’ll get a pregnancy test and know the duration of my pregnancy matching it to the night we slept together or better thanks to our advance technology, we can get a paternity test," Olivia responded. Leo looked like he was ready to pounce on her.

"Did you or did you not sleep with her Leo?" his father asked. Leo gritted his teeth.

"I did," he answered within gritted teeth.

"Good. And you wanted to deny the pregnancy? Leo? You do know how much I want a grand child from you guys," his mother, Helen Yul chastised him.

"Especially from you Leo. You are the heir, none of us are getting any younger, we need to see a heir from you before we leave this world," his father, Dante Yul added.

"We’ll get the tests done to be accurate about the issue," Colleen Yul, Leo’s sister mentioned. From the way she looks at Olivia since she arrived, you can tell she took a dislike to her immediately.

Olivia nodded.

"But father, I can’t accept this pregnancy," Leo said.

"And why?" Helen asked.

"Because this woman has a motive in getting pregnant for me," he replied.

"What motive? Is it really that ill that you refused to acknowledge your own child?" Helen asked further.

"She’s the Shipman’s daughter," Leo said.

"We know."

"It’s no longer news that the Shipmans are going bankrupt," Leo continued. Olivia really didn’t appreciate him repeating those details of her family everytime.

"Her motive was to get pregnant for me and peradventure if she is able to get married to me. She will use all that to get money to fund her dying company," Leo added.

"So?" his mother responded.

"It really doesn’t matter. It wouldn’t take anything from us to help her. She’s carrying your child and that automatically makes her family and yes, you will get married to her because never in our lineage has there been a child born out of wedlock," Dante added.

Leo was torn. He has no other comebacks to back his claims.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Yul. My family is looking forward to a dinner with the Yuls," Olivia told.

"That will be lovely. We can use it as a medium to start discussing about the wedding. It should be as soon as possible before your belly bump starts showing. How many weeks gone now?" Helen inquired.

"Over four." Olivia responded getting really well with Mr. and Mrs Yul.

Leo couldn’t believe this. Was this woman really that despicable? Was this real? Without even caring about his opinions or choices, they were about to marry him to this woman.

He walked out, Zane who was waiting outside the sitting room was welcomed by his boss’s angry aura and look.

"Wait Leo," they heard his sister, Colleen call. He halted.

"All you said in there? Was it true?" she asked.

"Yes, that woman played me for a fool," he answered.

"(Scoffs) I expected more from a woman of a noble family. You should have been more careful, you knew her motives yet you still slept with her and not only that, but you succeeded in also getting her pregnant," Colleen uttered.

"I didn’t know her motive at first but I should have suspected something. She urged me not to use protection on her that night and even took some pills saying it will prevent her from getting pregnant-"

"You should have been smarter, checked the pills or something to confirm," Colleen said.

"I know, but I wasn’t. She deceived me and I fell for it," Leo replied.

"And you know our parents, they are not going to back down now. They will make you marry her," she continued.

Leo gazed at her. Angrily, he left with Zane.

***

It was over midnight.

A black limo sped off on the almost empty roads as only a few vehicles were still seen. The skies were dark with the moon and the stars shinning brightly. Lights of the roads were still on but most of the lights from buildings were off.

"Are we still far off from the safehouse, Caleb?" a young man who was seated powerfully at the back seat of the limo, said to another man, who was his trusted personal bodyguard and friend.

"Yes, Fi. We didn’t leave the transaction venue on time. Big boss isn’t going to be happy with our late arrival, he must be eager to hear how the transaction wen-" Caleb was cut off as the car came to a halt suddenly, hitting something or somewhere.

The sounds of cars screehing before coming to a stop was heard. A car had overtook and blocked their way, armed men came out of the car and started firing at them.

"Argh, boss. It’s some men from the Z-group!" one of the bodyguards informed Fi.

Z-group? It was the people they just made transaction with. How dare they try to double cross them?!

Fi brought out his weapon ready to fire back. His men did the same bringing out their weapons, they came out first to level the shooting ground in attempt to protect their boss before he came out of the limo to join them.

"Argh-"

"Boss!" Caleb called as a bullet finally hit his boss at the stomach. He went towards him, Fi held his abdomen putting pressure on it.

"Fi you need to get out of here, leave this to us but you need to leave, go anywhere away from here," Caleb said, he continued shooting covering for Fi as he prepared to run away before things gets out of hand.

If anything happens to him, Caleb would be held accountable and the big boss wouldn’t be happy with it.

"Call me once you’re safe," Caleb yelled after Fi who struggled to flee away from the scene despite being shot.

"Finland Lee is getting away, the target is on the run!" one of the enemies announced and was ready to go after Fi but Caleb stopped him as they engaged in a combat fight, Caleb was also shooting whoever attempted to follow Fi, as he fought.

Fi continued running, he could feel the bullet in his abdomen as he bled profusely. The heat from the bullet still hurt with a stinging sensation. He ran until he was tired of running. His vision was starting to blur in and out.

The area he has found himself in after some while of running, was a residential area. All the lights from the houses were off, he stayed off the light from the streetlights so that the street cameras won’t catch him if there were any.

’Going to the hospital wasn’t an option,’ he thought as he held one of the fences. He stared at the house inside the fence.

His blood trails was everywhere, he would be putting the owner(s) of the house at risk but he didn’t care. He needs to save himself first, then he will try to protect whosoever was inside that house.

He climbed over the small fence and because of his condition, he landed on his back, on a soft ground which seems to consist of finely mown lawn or flowers, maybe.

He struggled to stand up. He went towards the house. There was a glass wall and door, you can clearly see everything inside if the lights were on.

He pushed on the sliding door and it opened. The careless owner must have left it unlocked. He walked in, when he got to the sitting room, his eyes glanced at the items on the drawer below the TV, hung on the wall.

He swayed feeling dizzy out of losing too much blood. He knocked down a flower vase in the process which smashed on the floor.

Oops!

That must surely have alerted the owner(s). They might be awake now, which is good so that they will help him attend to his wound. But what if they call the cops instead, thinking it’s a burglar.

This wasn’t all too good, he has to hide!

Meanwhile, Sentencia’s eyes shut open immediately she heard something break. She sat up on her bed.

’What the hell was that?!’ she thought on alert.

’Is it a thief or robbers?’ she continued.

Her hand searched on the drawer where she usually puts her glasses on. She touched it and collected it wearing it, her vision became clearer almost immediately she put it on.

She stood up from her bed and began searching for her phone to call the cops. When it dawned on her, she’d totally forgotten that she was charging it at the sitting room.

Oh no! What is she going to do now?
