Chapter 111: Eira Meets Elias

Eira and Callian stepped into their home. For once, everything felt perfect. Callian’s hand rested on her back as he guided her inside.

"I still can’t believe it," he said, shaking his head. "We’re going to have a baby."

Eira laughed lightly, her hand resting on her belly. "It feels surreal, doesn’t it?"

Callian pulled her into a brief hug, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Surreal? It’s a miracle, Eira. You—you’ve made me the happiest man alive."

Her heart warmed at his words, and for the first time in a long while, she felt like everything was falling into the right place.

But then Callian straightened, glancing at the clock on the wall.

"I need to head to the office," he said regretfully. "There’s a meeting I can’t miss, but I’ll be back in time for dinner. We can celebrate properly then."

Eira nodded. "Go. I’ll be fine. Besides, I need some time to process all of this myself."

He hesitated for a moment, his thumb brushing her cheek. "Promise me you’ll rest, Eira. No overthinking, no stress."

"I promise," she said with a soft smile, gently pushing him toward the door.

As he left, she stood by the window, watching his car disappear down the street.

Her fingers brushed against the edge of the dining table.

She wanted to share this news with someone, but everyone was gone.

After a moment, she picked up her phone and dialed Sana. Her friend answered after the second ring.

"Eira! I’ve been waiting for you to call. How are you?"

Eira smiled at the sound of Sana’s voice. "I have some news. Big news."

"Oh? What is it?"

"I’m pregnant," Eira said, the words felt strange yet wonderful.

There was a pause, and then Sana squealed loudly enough for Eira to pull the phone away from her ear.

"Oh my god, Eira! That’s amazing! How do you feel? How’s Callian?"

"Over the moon," Eira replied softly. "It’s a lot to take in, though. I wasn’t expecting this."

"You have to tell me everything," Sana said. "Let’s meet up. I’m dying to see you."

Eira glanced at the clock. "Okay. How about the café near your house? I’ll leave now."

"Perfect! I’ll be there in twenty."

After hanging up, Eira quickly changed into a simple dress and grabbed her coat.

She felt lighter than she had in weeks, excitement bubbling in her chest as she stepped outside.

The city streets were busy; the cars and chatter filled the air.

Eira walked briskly, thinking about the conversation she was about to have with Sana.

But as she turned a corner, she felt it—a presence. Someone was following her.

She glanced over her shoulder and froze.

"Konrad?"

He looked rougher than she remembered, his sharp suit now wrinkled, his hair unkempt.

But his eyes were the same—cold and locked on her.

"Eira," he called, his voice smooth yet unsettling.

She quickened her pace, her heart pounding faster in her chest.

"Don’t walk away from me," Konrad said, his steps quickening to match hers.

Eira didn’t respond.

She needed to get to the café, where Sana would be waiting.

She needed to get away from him.

"Eira!" His voice grew louder, more insistent. "We need to talk."

She turned down another street, but he was relentless, closing the distance between them. freēnovelkiss.com

"Stop running," Konrad hissed, grabbing her arm.

Eira yanked it free, her voice trembling. "Leave me alone, Konrad."

"You owe me an explanation," he said, his grip tightening as he tried to block her path.

"I don’t owe you anything," she snapped. "You lost the right to talk to me a long time ago...especially after Marion’s funeral!"

"You think you’re safe with Callian?" he sneered. "You don’t know him like I do. He’s not the savior you think he is."

Eira’s blood ran cold. "What are you talking about?"

Before Konrad could answer, a strong hand clamped down on his shoulder, yanking him back.

"That’s enough," a deep voice said.

Eira turned to see a tall man with dark hair and blue eyes that matched Henry’s.

He was standing between her and Konrad.

"Who the hell are you?" Konrad snarled.

The man didn’t flinch. "Someone who doesn’t like bullies."

"It’s you from yesterday? Go away!"

"You should go before I call the police."

Konrad glared at him, but after a moment, he stepped back. "This isn’t over, Eira," he threatened.

The man watched him until he disappeared down the street.

Eira let out a shaky breath, her knees weak. "Thank you," she turned to him.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded, though her hands were still trembling. "I think so."

"Do you know him?"

"Yes," she admitted. "Unfortunately."

The man extended his hand. "Elias."

"Eira," she replied, taking his hand.

"You shouldn’t be walking alone if people like him are around," Elias said, his tone gentle but firm. "Let me walk you to wherever you’re going."

Eira hesitated. "I don’t want to trouble you."

"It’s no trouble," he said. "Besides, I’d rather not leave you alone after that."

"I’m meeting a friend at a café nearby."

"Let’s go," Elias said, falling into step beside her.

As they walked, Eira couldn’t help but glance at him.

There was something reassuring about his presence, a quiet strength that made her feel safe.

When they reached the café, Sana was already waiting outside, her eyes wide as she saw them approach.

"Eira!" she called, hurrying over. "What happened? You look pale."

Eira forced a smile. "It’s a long story. I’ll tell you inside."

Elias gave her a small nod. "Take care, Eira. And if you ever need help again, don’t hesitate to ask."

Before she could respond, he handed her a card with his name and number on it.

"Thank you," she said sincerely.

He nodded once before turning and walking away, disappearing into the crowd.

Sana grabbed her arm, pulling her into the café. "Who was that?"

Eira stared at the card in her hand, her mind swirling. "I don’t know," she said softly. "But he saved me."

She looked at the back of the card that had a handwritten note on it: "For my little sister."
