Chapter 120: The Price of Love, I’m Leaving You, Eira

The next morning, Callian sat in his office, phone pressed to his ear as he spoke in a measured tone.

"No, Malcolm, I need those papers finalized by tonight," Callian said.

He tapped his fingers rhythmically on the edge of his desk.

"Yes, the property transfers too. I don’t care if it’s late. Make it happen."

The conversation was clear in his sharp, clipped words.

The business at hand wasn’t just urgent—it was personal.

"I’ll call you back," Callian said, ending the call abruptly as the office door opened without a knock.

Mita stepped inside, her red dress clung to her body like armor, and her smile was clever.

"What are you doing here, Mita?" Callian’s voice was ice.

He leaned back in his chair, glaring at her up and down like a predator cornering its prey.

Mita sauntered closer, ignoring the obvious distaste in his expression.

"Good morning to you too, Callian. I thought I’d drop by for a little... chat."

"There’s nothing we need to talk about," he replied curtly. "Get out."

Mita’s smile widened, "Oh, but I think there is. You see, I have something you’ll want to see."

Callian’s jaw clenched. "I don’t have time for your games, Mita."

She pulled a tablet from her purse, tapped the screen, and placed it on his desk.

The live feed played immediately—a view of a rooftop overlooking a bustling street.

Callian’s blood ran cold as he recognized the person walking on the sidewalk below: Eira.

"Eira," he whispered, not being able to believe it with his eyes.

"That’s right," Mita said. "And if you look closely, you’ll notice something very interesting."

The camera zoomed in, revealing a man in black tactical gear, crouched on the rooftop with a sniper rifle.

"Meet my friend," Mita said casually as if she were introducing someone at a cocktail party.

"He’s a professional. Never misses."

Callian shot to his feet, his chair toppled over behind him. "Mita, what the hell is this?"

She leaned against the desk, not intimidated by his rage.

"Insurance. You’ve been so stubborn, Callian. But now, I think you’ll finally listen."

"If you hurt her—"

"Hurt her?" Mita interrupted innocently.

"Why would I do that? I love Eira. But the thing is... accidents happen. Especially when people don’t cooperate."

Callian’s hands balled into fists, his knuckles turned to a cloud white. "What do you want?"

Mita’s smile returned, colder this time. "Simple. You divorce Eira and marry me."

His heart pounded in his chest, his thoughts flew over as he tried to find a way out of this nightmare.

"You’re insane."

"Maybe," she said with a shrug. "But I always get what I want. And right now, I want you."

Callian’s eyes darted back to the screen.

Eira paused on the sidewalk, glancing at a shop window.

She was oblivious to the danger above her.

"Mita, this is low—even for you," he hissed. "You think I’ll just agree to this?"

She leaned closer, whispering. "I think you will because you know what’s at stake. That’s your wife down there, Callian. That’s your baby."

Callian’s breath hitched, her words slammed into him.

"How do I know you won’t hurt her anyway?"

"Because I’m not a monster. I don’t want to hurt her. I just want you. And as long as you do what I say, she’ll be fine."

"You’re playing with fire," Callian growled.

"I’m not the one who’ll get burned," she replied.

The room felt suffocating, the walls seemed to close in as Callian raced for a solution.

He couldn’t risk Eira’s life. He couldn’t risk the baby.

"Fine," he said through gritted teeth.

Mita’s smile widened. "I knew you’d see the reason."

"But know this," Callian continued, his voice low and deadly. "If anything happens to her—if she so much as stubs her toe—I will destroy you. Do you understand me?"

Mita’s laughter filled the room, light and mocking.

"Oh, Callian. That’s what I love about you. So protective, so passionate. Don’t worry—your little family will be perfectly safe. As long as you keep your end of the deal."

Callian’s stomach was destroyed inside from rage and helplessness as Mita sauntered toward the door.

"I’ll have the divorce papers sent to Eira," she said over her shoulder.

"And don’t keep me waiting too long on the wedding arrangements. I’m not a patient woman."

She left, her heels clicked down the hallway, leaving Callian alone in the deay silence of his office.

He sank back into his chair, his head dropped into his hands.

For the first time in his life, he felt truly powerless.

But deep down, a fire burned—a will to protect Eira and their child at any cost.

"This isn’t over," he whispered to himself.

Callian’s phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen.

It was a message from Malcolm, his lawyer:

-Papers are ready. Call me when you’re free.-

His jaw tightened as he stared at the screen.

"Not yet," he muttered.

He needed a plan.

Mita might have the upper hand now, but Callian Blackstone wasn’t a man who stayed down for long.

As Callian walked into the house with heavy and hard steps...

He couldn’t believe that Mita’s words wrapped around him like a heavy fog, pressing him, not allowing him to breathe.

His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he pulled it out with trembling hands.

-The man will always have his eyes on her. If you try anything—police, tricks, anything—she’ll be gone in a second. Don’t test me.-

The message blurred as Callian’s grip tightened on the phone.

Callian’s stomach twisted violently, a gnawing pain that clawed at him, bile rising in his throat as dread consumed him.

Every instinct screamed at him to fight, to protect Eira, but the image of her walking unaware beneath that sniper’s scope haunted him. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

He had no choice.

Eira was waiting in the bedroom, her face lit up when she saw him. "Callian?" She smiled.

Eira was excited to share the news with him about what Vanesa split last night.

But she saw the dark circles under his eyes. He seemed in a bad mood.

What’s wrong?" she asked.

He sat on the bed beside her, staring at his hands as they clenched and unclenched.

He couldn’t look her in the eyes.

His throat burned with the words he didn’t want to say.

Eira touched his arm gently. "Callian, talk to me. Are you okay?"

He gritted his teeth, fighting back tears. Finally, he looked up, and in a hollow and cold voice, he stated.

"I broke the contract a long time ago. I want a divorce. I don’t love you anymore."
