Chapter 353: Princess’ Power

(Author’s POV)

"Ain’t no way," the twins’ simultaneous voices reverberated in the air. "You are not going to put your life and limb at risk here," Alaric added in a stern voice, resembling his father, Noah Everests.

Fabian was too stunned to think about anything, his eyes never leaving the newcomer. On the other hand, Chris was skeptical about the claim they were making. ’Can there really be someone who could overcome such harsh conditions and rescue his majesty from this ghastly ordeal? Even if it is~ .... no~ .... it’s just not possible. Only someone with a death wish would pretend to help right now.’ He was not convinced at all.

"I apologize in advance, Lycan princess. I respect you, but~ .... You should listen to your brothers. Right now, ~ .... it isn’t the time to show your bravado," Chris said. He really wanted to save Jacob as well, but this idea sounded absolutely absurd to him. He knew all about Nora’s past. Her family found her just a year ago, which meant she must be going through basic werewolf training, so how could she help here? ’The coddled princess, is she just trying to pose as a hero here, huhh.’

At this point, a sudden intense downpour of rain had started, making the situation more intense and serious. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Secretary Shadow," Alaric gave Chris a death stare for talking like that to his dear sister. Chris pursed his lips tightly as if Alaric had invaded his inner thoughts.

"Mr. Shadow, I am not trying to play anything. I really can help here," Nora tried to assure him, her voice gentle yet resolute.

"Nora, listen to me. I know you want to assist, but~ ...." Brave spoke, trying to reason with her, but she intervened mid sentence, "Brother Rave, don’t you trust me at all?" She glanced at her brothers and then sighed. ’I guess I will have to show you then.’

Closing her eyes, she took a deep, long breath and clasped the aquamarine stone pendant around her neck. For the first few seconds, nothing seemed to happen. The look on everyone’s face was filled with disappointment as the slight ray of hope they were holding onto was snapped away from them.

"Nora~ .... Don’t exert yourself," Alaric said as he walked towards her. He recalled how the first time she told them about her elemental powers, she passed out.

But Nora was in her zone. Still focusing on summoning her power. When Alaric was just a few inches away from touching her, something astounding happened. The stone glowed radiantly, and the next moment, the rain droplets that were settled on her eyelashes and brows started reversing. Slowly, the water beads resting on her entire body took a U turn and started going upwards, making her brother halt his action midway.

Chris and Fabian were left flabbergasted, too speechless to utter even a single syllable. Their breath caught in their throat. They have never seen something like this before. This was something truly out of the ancient alchemy scriptures.

Feeling proud of herself, Nora opened her eyes slowly, her body dry now. She looked at all four of them and said, her voice laced with confidence and conviction, "I~ ...Nora Everests, the Lycan princess, possess the power to tackle and manipulate water at my will. So, now~ .... ~do you guys trust me?"

The lightning flashed, followed by a heart wrenching rumble of thunder, turning the atmosphere ominous. Seeing the shift in weather, she added, her voice filled with urgency, "Make a decision~ .... fast. Mr. Larson~ ... he might not have much time left. We need to start as soon as possible."

Her words sounded portentous to them. She looked at her two brothers and, seeing the assertiveness in her eyes, they relented, "Okay~ .... Nor, I am with you, but~ ... you won’t be the one to go inside the water. I will," Alaric was the first one who spoke.

"I will come with you as well," Brave joined in. A sense of relief washed over Nora when she heard her brothers’ words. Then, she turned to the other two and asked, "Mr. Shadow~ .... What do you say?"

Before Chris could answer, Fabian said, "I will be going with you as well." Chris looked at him, his eyes bulging out. With gritted teeth, he muttered, "Prof~ ... Stephens~ ... you are just a human. You cannot go with them."

Fabian’s life was as important as Jacob’s. After all, though concealed, he was Fabian’s legal heir. Jacob, as if foreseeing the future, had already made it clear to Chris that if any such situation arose where both of their lives were at risk, he had to save Fabian, even if he had to discard his master.

But Fabian wasn’t very trusting of the werewolf kind. In his mind, they might pull up some trick. He was adamant on following them, as he said, "Secretary Shadow~ .... I am going regardless of what you say."

"Don’t worry, Secretary Shadow~ .... I will not let anything happen to any of them," Brave reassured him. "And~ ... we will bring Sir Jacob alive. You just need to do one thing."

Exhaling a heavy sigh, Chris spoke, "What is it, Young Alpha Brave. Please go ahead."

"Clear out the entire area. I don’t want anyone other than us five here. I don’t want my sister’s power to be a center of attention," Brave said, his voice lower. Although there were hardly any human beings amongst the people present, as Chris, on Fabian’s command, had already replaced all of them with their trusted subordinates. But Chris understood the gravity of the situation and Brave’s concern for her sister’s safety. He gazed at Fabian, who gave the green signal.

Chris gave Brave a brief nod and said, "I will do that," and walked away.

Within five minutes, all the remaining people, humans, vampires, or anyone were asked to disperse from the scene, leaving only the Lycan siblings, Jacob’s grandson and Secretary Shadow.

Brave waved his right hand in a semicircular motion from left to right, and soon, a transparent barrier appeared, forming a shield. Those who were on the opposite side of the screen won’t be able to see anything that was happening there. But this sort of power had a time limit, so he said, "Let’s hurry up."

Alaric and Nora nodded in unison as the siblings marched towards the rescue boat. Fabian followed them. They all wore the safety gear and hopped on. The engine ignited as the boat picked up speed. Alaric led the boat to the place where Alex had sensed Jacob’s smell.

Nora’s hand was gripping the gemstone the entire time, as she navigated through the hefty rain. Her lips were slightly losing their colour, but as she was wearing lipstick, no one noticed. She looked at Fabian, whose eyes were filled with genuine worry and murmured, "Don’t worry, we will definitely be able to save him."

Fabian didn’t look at her, but his mind was filled with contradicting thoughts.

Meanwhile, Chris, who was left on the sidelines, was nervous as hell. He couldn’t tell what was going on as the place was at a considerable distance and the rain droplets were blurring his vision. He kept on muttering, like an incantation, "Everything will be fine~ ... he will be alright~ ... he is alive~ .... everything will be fine." Nevertheless, his eyes were glued towards the dark blue infinite abyss.

"Ms. .... please~ .... Can you tell me which floor he is staying on?" Yelena spoke; her voice filled with urgency. She was at the Crown Opulence, trying to convince the receptionist to give Alaric’s room number.

But the receptionist, ever so professional and seasoned, didn’t budge, "Ma’am, even if you have the VIP card holder who claims to be Mr. Everests’ acquaintance, we cannot provide you with any kind of information related to our guest."

"At least~ .... can you give him a call? Call him and tell him that I am Myra’s friend. Please~," Yelena joined her hands, trying to plead to her. But the other person~ .... she wasn’t convinced and remained adamant. "Ma’am~ .... We have strict policies here. If you won’t cooperate, I will have no choice but to call security."

Yelena still didn’t want to give up; she made one last attempt, "Do you know Mr. Fabian Stephens~ .... I am a close friend of his." She took out her phone and showed the receptionist her and Fabian’s photos from the gallery, "See~ .... I am not lying."

The front desk holder was a bit taken aback to see the images, but the next second, she muttered, "In the world of AI, such images can be doctored." Then, with a resonating voice, she called, "SECURITY~"

Two people, clad in all black special commando outfits, came towards them as she instructed, "Take this lady out."

"Ma’am, please~ ..." The guards gestured for her to walk out, but Yelena said, "These aren’t fake. I really am~ ..."

Her words were cut short by the security guards. Her eyes widened in disbelief as the security guards held each of her arms and started dragging her out of the hotel. She struggled, trying to break free, and as a result, her phone slipped from her hand and cracked.
